We also have a Dolphin Active 20, bought from Pinch-A-Penny in NE FL in early 2021. It's been a workhorse for us. It's cleaned our 19000gal rectangular pebbled pool ~3 times a week ever since and we've never had an issue with it. It's very easy to use : 1 minute to launch and about 3 to stow, including filter rinse. We store it in a plastic bin near the pool, upside down per the manual. I'd buy it again without hesitation.
Too bad the OP has not responded to your inquiry. I've owned a Polaris for 5 years and it is now time to replace it. I am considering a Maytronics Cleaner but am on tbe fence between this one and another upgraded Polaris. However, all these products work great at first but it's always best to get a review after a year or so has elapsed. Hopefully the OP will read these posts and provide an update.
@302Z Well, I've had my Maytronics Active 20 almost a year, and it's basic. It will run for about an hour. COMPLETELY random pattern. I will have to restart it a few times to clean the entire pool. It will take all day to clean the pool. It does not have a program mode. It's supposed to run automatically every day, but that is hit or miss. As far as a vacuum? Ehh, I can clean the entire pool, including brushing, vacuuming, and skimming in a quarter of the time it takes the robot to vacuum alone. It's convenient. Grab a beer, push the power button and sit back, and relax while it does the work. Grab another beer, push the button again... but if you want it clean, done right, and done fast, you're going to have to do it yourself. I have the Maytronics Active 20. I'm sure there are more high-end models that cost thousands, but I'm not sold enough to commit that kind of purchase.
Thanks for the review. how big is your pool and what did you consider before choosing this particular model? I'm also in Florida and looking for a robot cleaner replacement for my Hayward SHARKVAC XL(power supply failed and cracked cord). Thank you.
I personally think my old Letro Legend will kick this things butt. Like all new technology this thing is way overpriced, I have had a pool for 27 years an have previously had a Letro and loved it, my first one lasted 14 years. I like the old sweepers because they have a tail. I’m not impressed with my active 20 but guess what they quit making the old sweepers that cost about $4 to $500 and replaced with this crap. Like everything they force you to this overpriced junk.
This is by FAR the best cleaner Ive EVER HAD!! A workhorse. Worth Every penny.

Now that you've had the robot cleaner for awhile, what's your honest opinion about it now?

A poorly announced play by play hardly counts as a review of the cleaner, honest or otherwise.
