- Another dashcam driving tour video. Part of the Summer 2021 Bridgeport, Washington June trip. Driving on Highway Alt 97 north on the west side of the Columbia River. The tunnel was a surprise, another very scenic drive. Great views of Lake Chelan and the town. Drive virtually throughout Washington state with RV and Truck Travel.
I lived in Entiat Washington back in the 70's. Thanks for the memories and the visual.

I’ve been living here for 20 years. Stehekin is pronounced stuh-hee-kin around here. The name "Stehekin" comes from a word in the Salishan language that means "the way through".

7:31 That is the turn off to go to the State Park on the lake. If I were just sightseeing, that is the route I would take. The road from the State Park to Pat & Mikes (good ice cream) meets the road through the tunnel... and then along the lake to the town of Chelan. The route is longer, but very pretty. The drive-in across from the State Park (Alpenhorn) has good food (it is only open in the summer season), but pricy. Drive slow and enjoy the view. Make way for locals in a rush. Not a good choice in the winter though. Roads can be very slick and rock slides are a constant issue.
14:58 first saw this view in 1955. Remember it clearly.

WAAAAY better than Leavenworth... but Chelan has lousy beer by comparison. Both local breweries (1 in Chelan & 1 in Manson) are crap for beer. Just awful.

I think it is north of Bellevue. I will try, need to get the entire Redmond and Issaquah area yet.
