      Dude you're spot on. I've had a snakey piece of osage in my garage for like 5 years. Finally after finding Chris' video on it, I started working on it this week. limbs are all laid out, just gotta taper.

    Unreal, perfect for Fishing Rods too!
    Lanolin quiets everything for me, ive even soaked strings with it.
    Beauty Mate, excellent post, foiling the leather, Who would have known. Brilliant.

    Excellent job on the video sir. I am sure I will be coming back for more bow building tips one day. It is in the back of my mind to make one for myself one day. Thanks again, have a blessed week.

      Hockey tape works too. Not as pretty as leather. I like it on my framing hammer handle as well

    JD! Looks like you've lost a bit of weight, and you dyed your moustache grey! What a cool style of grip! How did you get into making those? Love, Don (PS: Hey DRT!)

    Interesting. I normally just do a half-inch buckskin or goatskin wrapping.

    Every teaching session regularly consists of two
    important part of bigining and of course ending, In this video the end part is missing. He doesn't say how to finish that strap! Should we glue it ??? Or .....?
    But in general was such nice grip . Thank you

    I was wondering if teflon tape would
    work for that bow socket.

    My grip is the spot for the spare string. Then some fake snakeskin suede over the spare. In case you have a string break in the field.

    Hey Clay, are you supposed to overlap the wrapped layers at all or just have them meet?

    That's neat, best looking wrap I've seen. In a future video, can you please show us how you sharpen your draw knife?

    • @davidbum3460
      @davidbum3460 6 років тому

      Zen Yatta he probably don’t it’s better dull cuz with a sharp one it’s a lot easier to make mistakes

    • @zenyatta3947
      @zenyatta3947 6 років тому

      David Bum No actually he has two, one sharp one duller. Ever seen him scrape a bow with it? Trust me, it's not dull.

    • @clayhayeshunter
      @clayhayeshunter  6 років тому +1

      Correct. I usually keep two. But if I had to choose one, I’d go with the not so sharp one. I sharpen it just like a single bevel broadhead. There’s an old video showing how I do that.

    That is how one would wrap a tennis racquet, but how about a two pieced wet formed wrap?

  • @bryanmckinnon8060
    @bryanmckinnon8060 6 років тому

    If a guy was to do that with hand tools, what would you suggest?

    • @SeadartVSG
      @SeadartVSG 6 років тому

      It will work with a sanding block or a sure form rasp. There are old boyscout leather working project books that show this. If you want a different look you can wet the leather and pound the edges with a hammer and anvil, and put a pattern into the wrap.

    How to bevel the edges if I don't have a belt sander?

    Tenon, not “tendon.”

  • @abrahamd2k
    @abrahamd2k 2 роки тому

    Save your money, learn to skive leather. Or better, skive your leather than finish with belt sander or manually with block and sandpaper.
