  • Whether you have ADD, ADHD or think you do, you can find ways to work within the system that seems so constricting. I share a story about how I would forget projects, papers and exams in school, make a terrible grade and then work around that bad grade to keep good grades for the semester.

I was diagnosed in my 40s with ADD. The only hyperactivity is in my mind and I don’t take medicine anymore because it didn’t help enough and/or consistently. The most striking thing I’ve read or been told is people with ADD/ADHD have an “interest based nervous system”. I too wake up in a new world every day and struggle to obtain long term goals that involve repetitive uninteresting tasks. I can lose all my energy and motivation for no apparent reason and often just starting a project feels insurmountable. The positive - most have higher than average intelligence and creativity. There are strategies that can be helpful if implemented, something I have not succeeded in, but there’s good info on UA-cam etc.
