Ryu's fighting stule (and Ken, Gouki/Akuma, and Gouken) is based on Shotokan. In Fighting game universe, I see Ryo Sakazaki and Jin Kazama's fighting styles are both based on Kyokushin.
@@MP-zt9yb Definitely not Shotokan, and by saying that you prove know nothing of martial arts beyond the surface. *Makoto* was made SPECIFICALLY to depict Shotokan Karate. Shotokan stance is wide, they are *outfighters* with an emphasis in measuring distance to blitz in lightning fast with mostly linear strikes. Traditional Karate schools don't even apply Gedan Mawashi Geri (low roundhouse kicks), whereas in Kyokushin it's encouraged. Ryu and Ken strikes are *textbook Kyokushin* like Jin Kazama. The rivalry between Ryu and Sagat was an homage to the historic rivalry between Kyokushin and Muay Thai. You really don't know your stuff.
They should have added Spin Kick (Senpuu Kyaku, F + MK) in the Unique Techniques and Jodan Sokuto Geri (B, D, DB + LK, MK, HK) in the Special Moves too.
Ryu did not master the Satsui no Hado (Surge of Murderous Intent). He rejected it in favor of Mu no Ken (Fist of Nothingness). There is a manga where Ryu specifically created a technique for himself. That technique is known as the "Kaze no Kobushi" (Fist of the Wind). The move is performed by Ryu assuming a stance, collects a large amount of Ki energy, and releases it in a single blow. This move originated in the Street Fighter III: Ryu Final manga, and he utilized it to break Dudley's arm, wound Sagat, defeat Ken, and destroy Gouki (Akuma). The move was planned to be Ryu's Finishing Move in the cancelled Capcom Fighting All-Stars. Ryu can be seen using the attack in a promotional trailer for the game. Although the Kaze no Kobushi has never been featured in a Street Fighter game, the attack nonetheless served as a inspiration for many techniques Ryu uses after the cancellation of Capcom Fighting All-Stars. Ryu's Focus Attack in the Street Fighter IV series, the finishing strike of his Cross Art in Street Fighter X Tekken, the Hanagashi move's follow-ups (Tesshin and Isshin) in the Ultra Street Fighter IV OMEGA Mode, his finishing strike against Necalli, and in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition his second V-Trigger known as the Kakko Fubatsu.
