The first century of Christianity is shrouded in mystery. What we know for sure, compared to what we are told by traditional accounts is wide ranging and extremely problematic. The earliest Christian documents we have are letters from Paul, dating to the 40s-50s and early 60s. Only 7 of them are considered to by authentic and written by one author. These letters from Paul contain the most important details about Jesus being crucified. We have letters from John and Peter, which may not be authentic, but are nevertheless, late 1st century and early 2nd century texts written by Christians. Most scholars date the 3 Synoptic Gospels to the late 1st and early 2nd century, starting with Mark around 70, then Matthew between 85-95, and Luke-Acts in the early to middle of the 2nd century. The Gospel of John also is dated by most scholars between the 90s and 140s. All four of these gospels did not have names of authors attached to them until the end of the 2nd century. So we don't even know if they really were written by Mark, Matthew, Luke or John. These titles were given by later Church fathers. The earliest physical fragments of these texts that we have are from the late 2nd and 3rd century. And the oldest full copy of the bible in existence is Codex Sinaiticus from 325 AD. The Gospel of Thomas, which was once an important early christian text, is dated between late 1st and early 2nd century (some even arguing that it could be the oldest) but was not selected among the Biblical Canon by the Church fathers in the 4th century. Although it's impact on early Christianity was massive. Outside of that, there is a plethora of gospels and texts produced by early christians in the 2nd century that will be discussed later in the video.
In the 4th century, Eusibius provides a detailed list of the early Church Bishops in Antioch, Rome, Alexandria, Athens, Corinth, Smyrna and others. These lists show a direct continuation from the apostles like Andrew, consecrating the father of the Heretic Marcion, Philologus, the first bishop of Sinope as well as consecrating the first bishop of Corinth, named Apollos, who is mentioned in Paul's letters. And Mark being the first bishop of Alexandria consecrated by Peter, with Peter being the first bishop of both Antioch and Rome, consecrating both Linus and Evodius. And of course, they list James as the leader and first bishop of the Church of Jerusalem. And from them are the 70 apostles listed in Acts, with names that look familiar to people mentioned in Paul's letters. These elaborate lists of succesion show what appears to be a United Church that has a direct line of Orthodoxy from Jesus down to Constantine.
However, the primary sources show this to be not only problematic, but impossible in some cases. Many of the sources conflicting lists with each other and people considered to be alive in certain times are somehow alive in times when they should be dead. And the survinving texts we have are so few and far between, that it becomes a nightmare to try to peice it all together.
The truth is, early Chrisitianity was far from united. It was so diverse that I would argue Christians in the first two centuries were farther apart than a Moorman is today with a Catholic.

I grew up Catholic, questioned it a lot, and decided not to be at 12. I just didn't believe a lot of what they were telling me. Eventually after much trial and error with other Christian sects and western new age, I found Tibetan Buddhism and settled for that for a long time. Then I lived in India, with Kashmiris, where Sufism is inherent in the culture, and helped Afghani refugees, for years. Both taught me much about Islam. So being constantly surrounded by Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, and other Hindu variants, and 3 different branches of Islam, all mostly on a daily basis, I couldn't help but notice the similarities, which I've been looking into since. Mostly academically through historical data. For example, just now, The story you told of being "kept in the dark" in the garden of Eden, and being liberated from it, reminded me of Siddhartha's upbringing. Very difficult to learn, and so eventually gain true enlightenment and liberation , without adversity. My biggest question now is "Why?" Why did God (or insert own ideology here) do it, knowing it was going to cause a lot of suffering? It really pisses me off sometimes, more on behalf of other sentients than for myself. I have come up with a few theories but have no actual evidence to back them up and I still can't fully wrap my tiny, fallible, human brain around the concept of an eternal universe with no beginning or end, just recycling or Nirvana, as Hindu teachings say, so the creation story you told appeased me somewhat. Makes sense along with the cult of Yahweh apparently merging with the cult of El at some point, for geo-political reasons. I think I was born Hindu/Buddhist AND Gnostic/Sufi and just didn't know it. And here I am at age 56, finding some of the holes in my understanding of what I suspect is the big picture, are covered by yet another religious ideology and lesser known doctrines. And I'm loving every moment of it.
Please pardon my ramblings. I'm trying to quit smoking and nibbling after dinner. Writing helps a lot. Keeps the hands busy.

I quit smoking at about 54, and it was very difficult. Kicked like a mule for 9 days. After that, I had to go week by week and had to re-arrange my entire life. It was based around smoking, and smoking was a consideration in everything I did and everywhere I went. After six months, I knew I hade made it and would never go back to tobacco. It's been over 11 years now, and I still think it was one of the best decisions I have made.
I felt drawn to a book, The Life and Teachings of Gautama the Buddha, in my early twenties. I stole the book from a library and read it. I understood it. The first thing I did was stop stealing. I began to wander as a homeless monk on and off for a couple years, and eventually wrote a check to the library to repay the loss after getting my feet on solid ground. it was miraculous the way God provided for me, so long as I stayed on this path. I eventually returned to Christianity because I was raised Christian, and my family claimed to be for the most part. I had corrected my errant ways and hoped I could help my family. Christianity had seemed to be a show for me. My parents always took us to church dressed up on Sunday, but they were back to smoking, drinking, and cussing by the time we got home. They were decent people, but our family was dysfunctional. I nearly died of a drug overdose at 17.
I pursued Christianity for twenty years as an adult, reading the bible, attending bible studies, tithing, all that stuff. I was on a worship team and wrote Gospel music. I eventually left Christianity out of frustration and disappointment. I learned about many of the denominations. It seemed too shallow and superficial and at times just ridiculous (speaking in tongues, fake laying on of hands, etc.). I studied other world religions, became a yoga instructor and learned a lot about Christianity by learning about the other religions. Whereas the Hindu religion grew organically from India after the Vedic texts, it became evident to me that Christianity was created by Rome for the initial purpose of ending Judaism. Later, Emperor Constantine used it as a means to consolidate the Roman Empire, replacing the many mythologies and Pagan religions with Christ. Even Islam (the Moors) once promulgated the acquisition of wisdom and knowledge, pouring through and translating Greek and Roman knowledge and advancing science and technology. And yet Christianity has always seemed to prefer keeping the masses in the dark and the clergy of the church having the knowledge to read, write, and maintain the scriptures to maintain their power over the masses.
The past twenty years of the internet has made the world a smaller place, and it has allowed many to contribute to the process of piecing together a better picture of world history. The Christian Church never mentioned the crusades, the Roman Empire's control through Christianity, or the two one-thousand year long Christian empires of the Holy Romans and the Byzantines. Once I could study world history I began to see a clearer picture of how Christianity came about, and why evangelicals seem to be so far out there. They are accepting second or third or tenth hand knowledge of those who don't know much more than they do. They haven't kept up with the advances in our knowledge and still believe that Columbus discovered America and America was founded as a Christian nation.
Now I see Christianity and it's acceptance by many in the US and its leadership positions to be in opposition to the world peace process. They refuse any sort of sharing among the nations or religions and insist upon their vision of Jesus returning to earth and ruling as a king from Jerusalem for a thousand years. I am not kidding. I watched a Calvary Chapel sermon on this a couple of weeks ago in a series on Revelations. Their vision of the future is not unlike the Timothy LaHaye "Left Behind" series, which is sadly the most common view of Revelations in America.
Before the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim peoples of the world can ever live together, they will need to stop fighting over whose scriptures are true and who really knows God. The Bahai Faith (175 years old) attempts to bring these three religions together in Baha'u'llah, and believe that God sent messengers to all the populations of the world, including Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, and others. Looking at current world events, it seems like a big challenge, one that will require the widespread deconstruction of the scriptures of the Abrahamic religions and a refitting around the Bahai scriptures. Probably more difficult than stopping smoking.

I followed many flavors of Christianity for a while and finally at 42 I found my Pagan roots, specifically Norse and even more specifically Freyja. So many stories passed down throughout humanity. The flood stories may be tied to the end of our first ice age and the melting glaciers covering so many people’s lands. The traumatic stories could be tied to the world’s peoples losing their homes and land to the rising waters. From what I saw it wasn’t a very slow process but was pretty quick. Who knows in the end since the worlds people have basically been playing the biggest telephone game in existence. LOL

    • @MrChristianDT

The way I see it is that all religion was born out of a way for people to feel like they have control over things they don't, but it always inevitably got choked up by the beliefs and ways of the culture that created it. And, when those cultures became powerful or wealthy often so too did the religious class and ot became yet another kind of chain for just as many as it gave peace to.
I sincerely believe that Christianity, Islam & Bhuddism sprang from a sort of desperate defiance of the problems of the old ways, thinking that they were making something better, when all the new ways have just as many problems as the old- maybe even moreso, since these are "conquering religions," who need to constantly move into new places & subjugate them to replace the old. While some conquerors did this, & ancient peoples might have laughed at ways that didn't match their own ways or beliefs, old religions, themselves, didn't do this & the new religion can often be devious, harsh & rely heavily on shaming basic human nature & fear mongering in order to thrive at all. That is their mistake & that is why they are just beginning to die off, today.

That’s why he talked about taking the lowest seat of honor, and why he washed his disciples feet, which was the job for a servant, not a master.

It seems to me that early Christianity was more concerned with ethics and the pursuit of finding one's connection with God and selfless service to the community. Rather, love one another and do what it good. Simple and available to all.
The Jews were relentless, waiting for their messiah, refusing to cooperate with the Greeks or the Jews. They wanted another David to defeat Rime. I can't go on. This begins in ignorance of the naming of gospels. Works of literature were named with a translation of the first words of the work, which is usually also the subject. ("In the beginning" becomes the Greek translation, "Genesis." Mark is a Hebrew word which is used in the Old Testament for our first steps in faith--preparation of the heart. Jesus began with 12 disciples/students. Evangelists were sent out and many thousands attended his meetings on the hills. 70 more disciples were called and then "the other 70." The gospel of John represents class notes of one of the most advanced students. So, the gospels are from four different classes of students. The mysteries there cannot be comprehended without "eyes to see" and having already learned the lessons of Mark, Matthew and luke. We are not going to learn much from UA-cam. Faith is a journey. If you have felt the love of God drawing you, make a decision to believe. People believe what they choose. That's why it's called faith. Evidence follows. One day, you will receive your evidence, but not be believed. I could tell you about my evidence. But you really need your own experience. It begins with God talking to you through the Bible. These words were actually "breathed" into the ear and written down. And you can talk to God (prayer.) You will find that God's word is answering your prayer. ▪︎. Get together with others and remember that we are all imperfect.

There were four main steams of Christianity in the first and second century AD. (Apostles, Pauline, Marcian, and Gnositc).
Three were done away with by Rome as they made the religion as literal as possible and ensured the church held the power. They made it Orthodox, and Pauline - centric.

Having spent my first decade and a half believing what my parent's taught me, I see how people, since the beginning of our species, have tried to explain who and where we came from, and assigned various "gods". As a boomer now, I can only say our existence is still a great mystery, and no one has the real and final answer (I don't think we are meant to have one). I deeply respect the Family Traditions though. Feri is much more of an esctatic Mystery Religion, it's not Wicca, Tower was Kitchen Witchery and Feri was a better "fit".
I also deeply resonate to the Sufi rituals, especially Zikr, and Thunder the Perfect Mind from the Nag Hammadi is incredible.

Pythagoras means Heart of the Serpent, he was born in Sidon, a fishing Port in Phoenicia. His mother recieved a message from the Oracle of Delphi that he would become a great Leader and Teacher. Sidon means Kingdom of the Fish, and the Essenes, who wrote the Dead Sea scrolls, worshipped Pythagoras. The Sarcophagus of Eschmun III found in Sidon names him as the Widow's Scion, aka Hiram Abiff, the Founder of Freemasonry, of which Tyre was the premier Capital (at least equal to Thebes).
In 911BC Rameses II married the Queen of Sidon, home of Jezebel (Daughter or consort of Baal, basically "Queen") founding Neo Assyrian Babylon, an alliance between Egypt and Hiram, father of Jezebel and King of Assyria, and Egypt, forming the Phoenician colonies and building the first Temple of Melqart to commemorate the alliance.
The Si in Sidon is the basis of the Latin Exe, or X, and is the basis of the Cross, or Chi Rho that Constantine painted on his shields. Also known as the Cross of Tyre, or Cross of Baal, being Ra-El, or Ba'El. Oddly enough irrational numbers can also be mapped using Euler's number, producing a Templar Cross in the process. This cross can also be seen around the neck of Nimrod in Assyria, and is consistent with the Union Jack, and Solstice Calendar found in the Vatican Shiva Lingam.
Shiva is the Hebrew word for 7, their culture also found its way to Japan (via the Phillipines) ultimately becoming Shintoism.
It was the Phoenicians who gave their name to the Pole Star, which they used to Navigate the Oceans using the Zodiac, thats what the Antikythera mechanism was for, and with it they wrote the Byblos Baal, what we now call the Bible. The first form of the Bible was written in 325BC and called the Vaticanus Greacus, or Son of the Sacred Serpent, a reference to Sirius, the basis of the Sothic Calendar, which uses a Hexidecimal or base 60 system found in all the Megalithic sites around the world.
In the second century AD astronomer Valentinus Vettori transcribed it into a Lunar chart of 13 houses, what we now call the Zodiac. Horoscope means Star Watcher, and the Phoenician word for Saturn, or El, was Israel or El, (Fruit) of Isis and Ra.
El is the primary God of the Phoenicians, representing the offspring of Egypt, and his consort Astarte represents the Assyrian half of the alliance. It may be possible to trace lineages and alliances through the naming of gods, which can be traced all the way to Ireland and the Vikings, and to Indonesia and the Americas, even as far away as New Zealand and Australia.
It denotes Sirius as Son of Orion and Pleaides, which sits at 33 degrees of the Zodiac. The basis of the Sothic (dir Seth) Calendar of the Egyptians. The New Moon in this position marks Rosh Hashanah, the Egyptian, Celtic, Phoenician, and Assyrian New Year, the first New Moon of September, which is called September because it's the 7th House of the Zodiac, when the Sun is in Ophiuchus.
The Phoenix, Benben, or Bennu is the Egyptian word for Heron, a Feathered 'Serpent'. It baptised itself in frankincense and myrrh at BaalBek, and then alights atop the Pyramid, upon the Holy Grail, or Alter of Ra every 630 years to take three days off the calendar during the course of the first New Moon of Nisan, which means "Prince". The Capstone of Pyramids is even called the Benben or Bennu.
The Phoenix is found in all religions, which are all Astrological Allegory for the Moon travelling through the Constellations, as a soul migrating from body to body, this is the basis of Joseph Campbell's Monomyth, or the Hero's Journey. The various planets no doubt play their own roles as portents, omens, and aspects, this astrology is the science of the Bronze age, and lasted all the way up to the 20th Century. Resurrection was an early teaching of the Christian Church, and likely relates to the lineage of Kings (The King is Dead, long live the King.)
Phoenicians represent the interim step between Egypt and Greece, their artisans and culture exceeding that of the Greeks, who literally adopted the Phoenician Alphabet, which we still use to this day, sounding out words phonetically. Phoenician is aliiterated in Venetian, and Vikings, being Kings of the Sea.
The Bennu is the Egyptian Phoenix, to Phoenicians the Hoyle, no different to the traditions of the Etruscans, who saw birds as sacred, just as the Celts. Hebrew and Iber as in Iberia have the same root meaning over, as in overseas, as in those who travel "over the sea." A colony called Iberia also appears on the Eastern shores of the Black Sea, where the same Dolmens and Megalithic culture originating in Ireland and Brittany appeared circa 4500BC.
_Phoenician_ means Scions of the Phoenix, the first Bible: Vaticanus Greacus Son of the Sacred Serpent (Prince). Then there's the Essenes, Sons of Light, the Tuatha De Danaan, Sons of Light, Annunaki, Sons of Light, Arthur Pendragon means Arthur Son of the dragon, Chertoff is Russian for "Son of the Devil" and Dracula also means Son of the Dragon, Masons have been known at times to call themselves the "Brotherhood of the Great White Serpent". The Ziggurat of Anu also denotes her as a great white Serpent, while New Grange and the Bru na Boinne in Ireland (4000BC) coated buildings with white quartz to denote the Moon. The Moon itself travels outside the Solar Elliptic by 5 degrees, which means it passes through specific constellations in a serpentine fashion that is always changing, but repeats every 19 years, the time it took to train a Druid or Magi, Magi meaning "Teacher" the Phoenix is also associated with this sacred number 19.
The name "Pharoah" means "Great House"
or "House of Light" and Cairo used to be called Babel. Pharaoh's themselves wore a hooded crown representing feathers, just as Native American Chiefs, ie the Feathered Serpent, they were also called the Commander in Chief. Aztecs also had Serpent Kings, (Canaan means Serpent Kings, and Sidon was a Son of Canaan, and Great Grandson of Noah) who were called to lead with cunning and guile, being the very virtue by which they claim the title in the first place; but to be seen in public as just and diplomatic.
"As wise as Serpents, but gentle as Doves" the old Egyptian flag of an Eagle attacking a Snake is also reflected in the Modern Mexican flag, denoting the Constellations of Serpentis (13th sign of the Zodiac) and Aquila.
The dimensions and 12 mathematical constants of the Great Pyramid are also expressed in New Grange, and Stonehenge, as well as in Watson Brake, (2500BC) and Teotihuacan, which correlates to the Phoenician/ Sumerian Hexidecimal system, which is what our modern systems of time are based on.
Officially no one knows who invented astrology, the zodiac, navigation by the stars, and time keeping. But whoever built the pyramids, and pioneered the 24hr clock in Egypt 5000 years ago also knew the exact dimensions of the Earth, as well as the speed of light. These calculations can all be made using these Megalithic sites as surveyors use a theodolite. Specifically Teotihuacan, which sits 180 degrees opposite Cairo, and has the exact same footprint. The ideal positions to determine the speed of light using the transit of Venus, by which one can accurately determine Longitude for navigation. Capt cook did the same thing in 1774 when he 'discovered' Easter Island.
The only culture that fits the bill was wiped out "not one stone upon the other" by the Romans in 146BC. Tyre, the capital of Phoenicia (israel) sat just offshore from Ur Shalom, City of the New Moon, or City of Peace. The root of the name Jerusalem, and was also seized by Rome in 70AD after a 13 year seige. The gap between is 216 years.
Greek Dionysians built the Temple of Solomon (now called the Temple of Melqart) representing the Solar Lunar Metonic Calendar on which this system is based, they also carried mirrors, a practice associated with both the Magi and the Druids as well as Greek and Egyptian scholars, these Mirrors are Astrological charts called "Cycladian Frying Pans" and record the cycles of the planets. The first Temple of Melqart (the Phoenician form of Horus, or Hercules, or Pan, or Thor) representing the 13th Constellation of Ophiuchus or the Serpent Bearer (hence Orphic Serpent worship) had pillars of Emerald and Gold, representing Isis and Osiris. The Jerusalem Temple only took payment in "Shekels of Tyre" a currency minted during the Jewish rebellion against Rome. "Give that which is Ceasar's unto Ceasar"
When Alexander sacked Tyre in 332BC they moved to Carthage meaning "New City" or New Jerusalem, where they built a second temple with Pillars of Bronze.
Nebuchadnezzar also seiged Tyre for 13 years, taking the City captive in 573BC: the same time as the biblical account of the Jews. And again in 70AD after a three and a half year seige, also consistent with biblical accounts.

isn’t there a massive debate on whether or not Pythagoras was even a real person? the first texts written about him were 150 years after he supposedly died, and those weren’t detailed either. the first detailed texts about his life were written by his followers 800 years after death. to add further, “he”wasn’t even the first to discover his theorem.

Great collection of facts. You have definitely been researching. I wonder about the name Shiva. In Hinduism, Shiva is part of the trilogy of Brahman, Vishnu, Shiva. In Judaism, Shiva is a name for God I believe. I saw it on Jewish temples in LA and wonder about how the two religions share the same name.
The number nineteen is a sacred number in Islam. When I discovered the Metonic Cycle of the Sun, Earth and Moon I understood why. The Solar and
Lunar clocks reconcile every nineteen years, to the day, to the minute. I also studied the Zodiac and hexadecimal number system and am fascinated by much of the knowledge you have accumulated. The knowledge of the stars, the planets, the circumference of the earth, the origin of the meter and the foot, the sacred numbers, and the language of mathematics is truly fascinating. Much of this knowledge and more is found in ancient Egypt and other neolithic sites around the world. Leave it to the Roman Catholics to replace real knowledge and understanding with a book written in Latin that only they can read and understand.
The feathered serpent? Isn't it a fact that birds evolved from dinosaurs, reptiles? They are related in the distant past.
It is interesting to study and discover how the Jews, growing up in the midst of the Egyptian, Assyrian, Hittite, Babylonian, Phoenician, and Greek empires have borrowed a lot of their mythology and origin stories. A deep dive into Greece reveals quite a bit about the Bronze Age and prehistoric times. Their mythology and origin stories are fascinating.

@@Scott_works feathered serpent is a reference to the King of the Phoenicians, the Messiah or Seer, who is wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove. The dove is Columbia, the Goddess of Death and Suffering, aka the Holy Spirit. It also relates to the Pharoah and John the Baptist, specifically the Summer Solstice, and to a white egret or Heron perched upon the back of a dragon (Alligator, etymology of the name is interesting, Alli, Illa, Illiad, Ennead, all references to the 9)
So in a sense a feathered serpent is the return of Storks or Egrets that sit upon the backs of gators heralding the flooding of the Nile. India still celebrate the appearance of Pleaides and Sirius at that time, and the Maori do too in Winter
      Coincidence?
