My father (and myself, brother, and mom) was stationed at RAF Alconbury in the late 70s. I lost him in 87. Missing him today. I just randomly decided to search for Alconbury during this time and found this - thank you so much!!! ❤❤❤
What a memory! I was stationed here from 10/77 thru 01/81. I was a GCA air traffic controller with the 2166 Comm Sqdrn. i remember jogging the road passing base housing as a 21 yr old Airman! REMEMBER THE AQ CLUB. I have been with LAPD over 20 years this video brought a tear...THANK YOU SO MUCH
My family has lived in Alconbury Weston for 40 or so years, and we always loved having the Americans. A lot of them joined our schools and became firm friends and also taught us about the joys of baseball!
(wife's account) You seemed to have parked at the barrack I lived in, 671 if I remember correctly. I was there from about 1986 to 1991. I was assigned to AR shop and Phase Inspection before that. Worked F5E for 527th and then A10A for 509th and 511th. My reporting official owed 50% interest in a Pub and we would go there after hours and shoot the bull and play darts all night...and now I know about really good beer/lager LOL
I remember pulling up to those gates for the first time in Jan of 77. had relatives in Cambridge that owned the Ancient Druids, a nice pub. Great people that I served with. Met some very cool English people over the years. Miss the old boys now. Nothing could stop us then. wokeness will now.

Just a random question - did you happen to know a John Murphy (Murph) during that time? I'm not sure what his rank was during this time (I was 5).

ps , the footage ends by my barracks and can see my dorm window on the first floor at the first barrack. Maybe I was in the room?
these are old postings, but it seems you and several other people who posted comments were stationed at Alconbury at the same I was!
