It's Amnesia but Slaanesh has entered chat, Alexander's voice lines are replaced with Billy Harrington quotes and audio recordings, the monsters are daemonetes, and Daniel did something worse. Like a miniature adaption of Fulgrim in one human body
Imagine in amnesia rebirth if (spoiler alert) tasi's child didn't die becayse of an illness, but because of a miscarriage and the deal that the empress (or whatever her name was) was trying to make resulted in her impregnating tasi.
Honestly, now that I think about; the developers behind whatever this is, had a golden opportunity to create a satire based on horror tropes and they debaunched it.😂
Was going for a new style of horror games inspired by this that I'll call "cosmic comedy", among the "comedic horror" for some contrast on the horror genre
there's this one mission in cyberpunk 2077 where you have to rescue a lady from this dingy basement that is basically a snuff film factory (i think they're called XBDs in the lore). and despite the mission not showing ANYTHING violent whatsoever, the way it's described, the titles of some of the XBDs (like 'acid bath 2' and 'no limbs no problem') and the computer notes talking about all the actors they have 'lost' is 100x more disturbing and effective than whatever gore-porn these games are trying to do, without even showing anything. actually well done 'disturbing' stories like that work the best when they leave the viewer's imagination to shudder in horror about how awful it could be.
To make it worse, SPOILERS * * * While V definitely has reasons to track down Christine prior, thanks to the whole Relic thing, I don't think the average player would want what happens to her in the end to happen for several reasons. The whole Judy sidestory, romance or not, is an interesting and mature take on sexwork in general IMO and some of the horrors that comes from it in the cyberpunk world.
To be fair, gore porn can still be done maturely. Like the first Outlast. But it's not violation for the sake of it. It's violation as an introduction into what the characters are all about. Dr. Trager comes to mind.
This kinda reminds me of a video I watched where a guy made a Pathfinder character sheet for XP to Level 3. I think the guy who made video is called Nonat1s. He gave Jacob (aka XP to Level 3) the spell Similacrum, which I think is used to summon a monster. If you summon a succubus, which also has Similacrum, you can keep using the spell. I think the succubi can transform or something like that? It’s been a long time since I wanted the video itself. At one point, Nonat1s was saying something about how Jacob was coming for us all… and I got an ad in the middle of it. So the video ended up going like this: “Jacob and his clones are coming for us? They’re coming for your- Dawn power wash dish soap” This had me cackling for a good minute.
the funny thing is these games could have an interesting take on sexual enjoyment vs sexual exploitation, with Amanda as a protagonist like you suggested. a person traumatised by the cult and trying to eliminate it so no one has to suffer like she did. and as someone with SA trauma, the angle of "I liked it in the end" could be explored as horror and how the brain tries to shut out the trauma, and how facing what happened to us and overcoming it is healthier in the long run.
There could be an ending where Amanda likes it as said and it's implied she will on to do the same to others But another ending where's it's implied she's on the road to healing and she and John contribute to others who have traumatized And maybe a third ending that's somewhere in between good and bad
These games do seem more on the certain 18+ side of things. Basically, the “artists/writers’ barely disguised f*tish” imo lol. Nothing wrong with it, I think they should be more honest tho.
In my view, both these games and F&H are using SA & S&M on a very surface level. These seem to want to do the 80s horror movie thing about scaring you and then arousing you. You get to see monster, then boobs; repeat for 75 min. F&H is using these themes as an aesthetic- a very effective and disturbing aesthetic, but still just an aesthetic. Neither treats these themes with any real weight or care. They both feel exploitative to sexual trauma and non-mainstream sexual expressions. As an example of a film that handles some of these themes with much more empathy, the film “Shame” is a look at the very complicated subject of sex addiction. I feel a human connection in something like “Shame” or even the much grittier French film “Irreversible”.
Of all the methods I've seen small devs use to avoid having to animate faces, setting the game in an Eyes Wide Shut masked sex party is one of the more clever ones.
It’s been done before in games like Chernobylite, but I feel like it especially helps in this game. It’s bad enough that all you see is SA and gore, but imagine putting a face to that. Imagine having to animate that. And imagine the worst Elder Scrolls puppet looking face during all those scenes of debauchery and gore. Masks were the only right call this game had lol.
@@plugshirt1762 I can fault their creativity. Aside from using a mask to hide the faces, they don't really seem to have explored the setting they created to it's fullest.
These games kind of fascinate me because I have no idea who they are for. It's not sexy, it's not scary, and there's not really an interesting story. Some of the visuals are nice, but unoriginal. And video game intercourse will never cease to be hilarious and awkward.
probably for those with an emotional overinvestment in a niche genre made at a low point in pursuit of escapism. Probably followed by an episode of heavy sunk cost fallacy resulting in an oversimplified positive review after they endure finishing the game... (this was me with isometric ARPGs minus the "niche genre")
I could assume that its for people who unironically enjoy movies such as A serbian film or Cannibal Holocaust for "those" scenes specifically. Its a difficult fact to accept, but an audience for this does exist (has been a for long time). The human mind is truly something...
I think maybe they are just not very skilled writers. They want to emulate the psychosexual vibes of summer break slasher movies and jam them together with creepypasta shit and they are not good at writing either of those things yet.
I suggest that these are also for duder with beer who plays it with friends for lulz and then wrote sarcastic/ironic comment. I'm this sort of type myself, who buy explicitly bad games like "Hentai vs Furry" or smth on sales just to kek on it.
All I'm saying is, if my wife disappeared for a year and I got a letter signed by her inviting me to a mansion in the woods, I'm arming myself to the teeth. Granted, I won't go in guns blazing until someone attacks me, but you never know
If my wife went missing and then a letter turned up asking to come to a mansion in the middle of nowhere then that’s not my wife anymore I’ve already took the kids and moved out the country ✌️
Well, this is one of the conundrums of attempting things like public ratings systems. Thing like humor and taste in horror and such can vary greatly. Silly, immature, and campy things can entertain a lot of people just for being that way while having extremely serious and disturbing subject matter. A lot of stuff with extreme levels of sex, violence, and depravity is funny to a lot of people when presented in certain ways. What's more a lot of people think it's funny when something that is blatantly absurd, is handled with deadpan seriousness (some could argue most normal Americans see most current year left wing politics this way, and the rest of the normal world sees left wing politics this way even more so. A lot of the people they laugh at are being laughed at specifically because they take such absurd, fringe, stuff seriously, even with the subjct matter being 'serious' their take on it and attitudes is hilarious. To put it into perspective, for anyone who read this. Some "extreme" media exists in part to create an actual visual of something so absurd it would never happen. People believing it could happen, except maybe in some kind of weird situations with a different context and wanting to take it seriously also becomes funny. In the real world for example there have been sex cults, and occult societies and so on, and something like the "Lust" series for example does a really campy version of what blending all of that stuff together and having the occult be real, treats it deadpan, and that's sort of the appeal. It's also a kind of offhanded slam on moralists on both sides of the spectrum and designed to get their goats (previously these guys were right wing, now they are left wing) because a lot of them have it in their brain somewhere that stuff like this could happen if wrong think was not stomped out, and the game are in some way showing how silly the whole thing is. I mean, having talked to some fans, a lot think the idea of say there being a portal shaped like a vagina in a dimension even older than humanity, with HP lovecraft tentacles around it is hilarious, because why would something like that.... older than the species it resembles, even exist. Yet the people who are going to freak out about these concepts are never even going to think it through. I would call that series more "camp" than outright parody, but I think most people will get what I'm saying, it's doing a lot of things at the same time. It's designed, knowing who it's offending, and you have to understand those people need to be offended and shown to be the clowns they are, even for people who really aren't into campy horror games, as anything short of this just let's them have more power and move on to more and more things. It's sort of like how the appeal of "Saw" or "Hostel" (which is sort of a misdirect, and blows chips) to a lot of people is because both can create a weird kind of contradictory suspension of disbelief and utter absurdity. In "Saw" for example part of the point is they can go into these rants about an ultra sadistic serial killer who is actual a genuine humanitarian trying to help people, and you can sort of get into the unreality of it, while also thinking "you know, this is kind of insane in a dumb way, but still oddly fun" (well if you like horror). See, it's sort of like how leftists in particular right now get upset about ideas like sexualized torture killers and how "some things must always be taken seriously", and they miss that they are part of the gag when people do stuff like this. See to normal people, if you want to hurt or kill someone for revenge or whatever, your just going to say shoot them and then dumb them in an incinerator or dump them in a creek or bury the body in the woods somewhere. The logistics of setting up these scenarios are pretty daunting, which is why it pretty much doesn't happen, and when people have generally tried it they have gotten caught due to the sheer number of variables. It's why things like snuff flicks and red rooms do not exist, and likely never will exist... beyond the lack of an actual, interested, audience, who would also have the money to make it viable if the problems could be solved. The number of details your average work of "torture porn" that drives the left into a mouth frothing rage glosses over (which smart people realize) is staggering, including very basic ones. Likewise when any details are covered, typically it's done by our ridiculous killer having ridiculous resources invested in getting their jollies off. The problem with that latter one is that if someone really wanted to do that and had the money they could invest a fraction of it to just go to some shithole country and pay to murder someone. A lot of parents will sell their children really cheap in large parts of the world. It's sad, pathetic, and not all that exciting like a movie, but that would be the real version, and likely how it's done. I mean instead of "Hostel", a business like that might just have some boat or platform out in international waters, and then just get their "Talent" by buying people from third world countries (corrupt official paid to arrest some pretty girl under false charges, and then giving her to you when she's sentenced to die for immortality of some sort anyway for example). The sick thing is, there's very likely ways of doing stuff like that where it effectively wouldn't even be illegal due to not being in any national territory, and having paperwork for an execution from a country where torture is legal (a really crappy one). No one does it probably because there is no market for it. It's why we don't have a corporation like "Snuff International" contracting out to privatize the prison systems of shithole countries due to actually being able to make the fortune by selling horrible rapes and execution on the internet.... crazy, but think about it. If this was viable as a business, guaranteed someone would have made "Snuffcatraz" close to some craphole country, just on the edge so as to be outside of any national juristifiction, but close enough to viably be protected by their warlord business partners. We'd be getting ads for the next pay per view murder or red room here on youtube, and with the greenbacks rolling in companies like Google would likely be partners and present different. They don't, not because of morality, but because there is no money in it.
@@karazakiakuno4645because talking a lot is a clear sign of being well researched. It can't ever just be someone who doesn't know how to structure their thoughts in a clear and concise way.
@@jeremyrichard2722 I *think* I understand? I don't agree, and honestly, the fact you included comments about politics and sensitivity doesn't help. It's hard to agree when your point seems to be "people take fiction too seriously" but you then type a rant which goes so far to include mocking left-wing politics and hypotheticals that honestly, probably exist in some regard. I can't help but feel you are more concerned with people's reactions than the subject you discuss.
I can't help feeling like these games would be significantly more compelling if they were actually made by and for people who are into hard kink, rather than people who are just rubbernecking about how edgy and twisted the vague pop-culture idea of BDSM is
This video was worth watching just for "I don't think this is what anyone meant when they called the genre 'Lovecraft'. That is the funniest joke I've written into this script, it's all downhill from here." It's okay if everything is less funny than that, not everything can be pure comedy gold.
Intimacy in horror can be so incredibly emotional if done right- but somehow people always land on "let's blame the victim and make them the villain" and that's so incredibly sad. I wish Amanda had gotten a better writing team😭 this duology feels more like shock horror than anything. Look how messed up we can make it! Isn't that spooky? No dude it's just lazy💀
*cough* Bloober. Seriously though, why do so many people land on that conclusion? It’s pretty obvious who the villain is, the person who actually did the bad thing.
@@4T3hM4kr0n intimacy IN horror- as in sexual content in a horror setting, sorry😅 I didn't want to risk the creator getting demonetized or having my comment removed so i phrased it kinda weird
Genuinely, yes, they clearly worked hard on the visual elements/design, there's a lot of grotesquely sexual and biomechanical imagery, it's neat. The writing is just a dumpster fire.
Imagine how different it could have been if they had a single person on the team without the weird "sex is degenerate" worldview. Or even just. A single woman.
I adored all the visuals of the games, but agree that the story was meh including gameplay. Maybe if they ever make a third they could fund the writing department 😄
There were some genuinely cool looking assets in this video (loved the masks and some of the hallway textures). Real shame their only use might ever be "Edgelord: The Game"
"Now that we can cast the most powerful spell of all.....bullet" lines like this and calling the crazy lust dimension "pound town" are some of the most hilarious things I've ever heard, I'm glad I watched this video!
oh no more of the ol' set of perceived standards that you have in regards to what's apparently 'mature' and not 'mature' - but also trying to rectify the contrived meanings of what's 'mature' and what's 'adult' and how apparently they don't correspond in 'meaning' because once again, that's your perceived set of standards to how you can determine and objectify the truth in the meaning of 'mature' and what's not mature as well as bringing in a paradoxical term to correlate with the concept of 'maturity'... so apparently, these games have 'very surface level' of presentation of such topics, but you know what is funny, is that you're comment/take/explanation/elaboration or whatever is also pretty 'very surface level' when it comes to your set of perceived standards especially with (i think almost) everyone here in this video, which includes the UA-camr too, against the seemingly 'very surface level' of presentation and showcase, to which i point out... why can't something that seems to be presented, and showcased with 'simplicity' then can't be exemplified with whatever nuance that comes to be out of its presentation and showcase..? if you want to 'criticise' the games/movies for doing this then why can't you 'criticise' - reality then..? if you can't comprehend nor differentiate nor try to gain an outlook on different perspectives, then you're maybe better off not delving in these types of topics at all with how much (and not just you) it irks your set of perceived standards to what and how its supposed to be 'handled'... gotta love how you and the Hive-Mind here is able to go on a bandwagon, and determine what 'mature' & 'immature' means in actuality, when unironicly it just exemplifies the level of volumes that a certain 'perception' will hold and get in the way of making a video that supposedly 'criticises' against the game for being 'immature' shock-slop with poor handling of 'complex themes' - it's always the survivors/victims/LGBTQ wannabe types that want to determine in its objective form of how to 'handle these complex themes' in juxtaposition of a perception that sets a certain standard of how it's supposed to be 'handled' and how it shouldn't be... its also paradoxical that there are ppl in the comments who criticise the games to be 'immature' shock-slop, but then spew out something that you found 'funny' which isn't far off to the type of 'immature' or childishness that you're going against in this video.
@@bethanywashington4914 Well the idea isn't that come to like it, it's that they're mind broken and basically hypnotized... not to say that really makes it any better, but yeahhhhhhhhh. That concept is quite a weird one to mess with. Especially worse in the acted real life stuff
@@pufflord_gamesonicsoloesyo2365 I know "mind breaking" ones but I'm thinking more about the " dubious consent" themed ones where the person starts of saying no and it's obviously not something they want only for them to end up enjoying it and seeking out the person who did that to them. Both are odd and uncomfortable lol
@@bethanywashington4914 Ah thought so, makes more sense with your og comment looking back. I will say though, I'm into a lot of whacky stuff, and even I have no idea how people find that stuff appealing. Having a friend that's into that kinda stuff, I'm even like how? But at the end of the day, as long as it aint in front of my face, I dont care. Kinda hard to avoid sometimes honestly tho. Either way, I entirely agree they're odd.
Its just porn scorn, honestly I dont hate the idea, it fails on most fronts but it tries to be a video game version of Clive Barker, which I respect I think the idea of deeply physcosexual horror is intriguing and can be done well but this game just stumbled alot.
This sounds like someone wrote a Slaanesh tier fanfiction but without any of the excess, parody, or Hellraiser aspects and just said "what if evil sex lmao".
Honestly can see this being a genuinly creepy game even with theme of sex but the writing needs to be way better and far less edgelordy. That last line during the boss battle with Amanda is just one example of the cringe. This is like a p-hub parody of HPL stories lol
I mean, that line is pretty edgy, and was likely written in that "oh, that's so edgy/'deep', it's gonna freak out all the stuck up prudes, man" mindset, I could see it being used unchanged in an actually serious context where themes about cycles of abuse and trauma were explored... this game just isn't that.
@@RipOffProductionsLLC It's not about exploring cycles of abuse and trauma. It's about following up the twist ending of the first game while also disturbing you.
Boy do I hate “parallel dimensions” that just look like fleshy cave systems with a few seemingly man made structures. Who even started this trend? Half-Life was the first to do it, and Zen was incredibly open and full of floating islands, Doom’s version of hell is also open, why do people do this? Draw distance?
There's a horror in feeling that you're inside something, but this absolutely does not nail it. The correct way to do it is to bring all the weird things bodies do: veins and arteries pulse to a heartbeat (bonus if your goal is the heart, to destroy it), membrane sphincters stickily open and then spasm shut, mucus glistens on some of the surfaces, ulcer-ridden floors mark paths irritated by the feet of previous travellers, some of the corridors shove you forward with rippling all through them like a mimicry of peristalsis, some coridors widen and shrink with gusts of air back and forth as the thing breathes with you in its airway, strange side tunnels chewed through muscle tissue hint at parasites large enough to devour YOU if you encountered them, somewhere in that unknown creature you're trapped within... You know, make you uneasy by shoving the knowledge you are exploring something living, breathing, moving, right in your face. Most flesh levels forget that part of why the gross uneasiness works at making the player want OUT of that level FAST.
Luustgar kinda sounds like an english speaker trying to say "Lustgård" which directly translates to "pleasure garden" in Swedish but I've only ever heard that word in relation to the Garden of Eden, "Edens Lustgård". idk if that means anything but I thought it was interesting and can't help but appreciate the irony lol
Above all other compliments I can pay this video, let it be said that the, AHEM, "helicopter" joke at 4:00 warrants a Subscribe all on it's own. Seriously tho, I cannot wait to make my way thru the rest of your channel's content. I can already tell it's gonna be my jam.
When you said "Willard was right. Let's fuck." I really thought that was you summing up her monologue. holy shit I didn't expect the dev actually putting that in XD
When Warhammer 40,000 handles the topics of excess and sexual violence with more subtlety and tact, that's a pretty good indication that your story is garbage. Which is saying something, because as much as I love 40k, it can get pretty dumb on its own.
Granted, the reason 40k is mostly better is that someone is standing there with a big sign reading "don't go into it or we can't sell it to 11-year-olds".
@@anon9469 Yeah, the only topics Warhammer handles tastefully are the ones that parents will get up in arms about. Which is so weird to me, because Servitors exist? My mom would take one look at that and ban me from it until I'm at least 16. Heck, I'm 27 and sometimes I don't feel old enough to linger too long in 40k's lore. It's very in-your-face horror and death in everything except one way.
I'm honestly am so SO tired of seeing this idea that liking sex more than the "normal" amount means you will inevitably become violent and abusive. Like not all people who like sex like BDSM or what not. It's over done, boring, and just really annoying to keep seeing over and over again.
Quite! I'm one of the horniest creatures on the planet and but I've only had like 3% of the sex I've wanted to have because I'm also mega-repressed and shy. Anytime I'm in a relationship, that dude's gettin' bruised south of the border by everything south of MY border, but it would never be anything but consensual because I am also a fluffy bunny inside. Horny people can be sweethearts too. Even when they're also BDSM aficionados. Hell, one of my boyfriends didn't work out because I only wanted to tie him down, blindfold him, and give him orders; not beat his cheeks purple like he craved.
And people that are into BDSM stuff are the most chill people I know and just do their stuff when they and their partner is in the mood. And for me the sex part is the most boring one of a BDSM relationship, I love to just be tied up and cuddle with my mistress at night and then talk a little and then maybe do something more horny if we both are in the mood.
I mean most the police reports literally have these things in those types of behavioral actions and doings. I mean you can't complain about it if it's part of the case.
I want a game where the protagonists are BDSM horndogs going up against an ultra puritan Villain who comes up with all these convoluted schemes and is VERY abusive physically and emotionally, and a male protagonist that comes from a Christian background goes "dude it sounds like you REALLY need to masterbate. Trust me, you'll feel so much better and lose all this pent up sexual tension you've got going on. Seriously I studied the Bible front to back. It's fine."
Ah yes, yoni-shaped portals between worlds. Very subtle. Would be nice to see an actually good eldritch horror-themed game with various kinds of mature content (yes, even **that** kind), especially if one could play as a non-dude - and not for a couple of minutes nor as the main dude's damsel in distress. At least all of the masks looked cool, I guess? Great video! I loved the "Lovecraft" joke, and your voice and your serenely sarcastic delivery are awesome. Instant subscription!
well she was forced/brainwashed into doing so...p sure in the happy relationship w her fiance she could get off just fine but the cult wanted to cuck him
00:35 H.R.Giger's work alone is 80% sexual content, it is just so distorted, most people just don't realize it. Too me a decade to see the obvious. "Hrony Nonsense" is the perfect summary of this...
I think it's crazy how this game looks so beautiful (like, there's an amount of love for detail that's really standing out. A continuous aesthetic to both worlds and good, polished graphics in general, especially for a studio that small) and yet has such a convoluted story and idea. Mixing Giger, Lovecraft and Beksinski for a horror game about trauma and brainwashing makes a lot of sense in my opinion - but yeah, totally, the story would work without all the sexual violence and gore too... I'm glad you worked your way through these games so we don't have to - cause now I've seen enough of it to hope the developers will put their energy and art efforts into something you actually WANT TO play in the future :D
The degree to which you are unimpressed with the games attempts at using an overbearing amount of erotica and 'themes' for shock value was far more entertaining than the games themselves sound.
You know. The fact that this game series can't acutally show or say anything interesting or meaningful or truly interesting on how hedonism and obessing over pleasure can lead you down a dark path is honeslty imrpessive in a sad way. Seirously if you just removed the gore these games really aren't...Anything.? It's not as if its that hard to take this premise and make it interesting or have something to say. All you really have to do is just do what the warhammer franchise does with it's slaanesh character. The demon god of pleasure and pain. It's not seeking pleasure that's the problem or joy. It's chasing an ever bigger high and more and more of it, till you wind up devoving into a complete degernate and monster, so fixated on finding pleasure that you lose your humanity and hollow yourself out till you can't even think about anything other than pleasure. That is littearly the ONLY thing these games had to do. Showcase how both cults/groups started off innocent enouph with just a group of people wanting to have some fun exploring their sexuality. But slowly fell into depravity by chasing more and more acts of hedioism till finnaly it got out of hand and went too far into outright torture and force. Heck make both cults once, one group that broke apart over someting so minor and stupid that it's lauphable but the members were so far gone that they couldn't stop and think about what they were doing for 5 minutes. It would be interesting. Espiaclly if many people are simply lying to themselves about enjoying this and deluding themselves out of a desperate attempt to not admit how far they have fallen and how much self hatred they have for what they have done. Amanda alone could of been great, if she kept lying to herself and got more and more unstable as the stories went on till she finnaly breaks down as she sees the truth.
Heck, just make a full game about sex addiction ! That would be both horrifying enough, and allow focus on the porn to make it better for the loonies who want to jerk off of a videogame.
There are plenty of indie Eroge that actually do that they're just less rigidly scripted and give the player full agency to expore the various areas. Even just giving the player the option to reload a save to work out how to get around an SA scene or letting the player choose to repeat the scene with more consensual descriptions is enough to actually use porn cliches to actually say something via just basic integration with game mechanics.
The victim of abuse wishing same abuse upon everyone is not impossible thing... Some victims sadly fall deeper into their trauma, making them treat trauma as normalcy. Most observed victims who repeatedly get themselves into same abusive situation are domestic abuse victims, not all, but some. Even military personnel who have been discharged due to PTSD, some of them join some other military related business, where they can keep on living in the trauma that has become normalcy to them. Even child victims of abuse can become future abusers. It is a vicious cycle that continues, only ending when victim of abuse themselves don't fall into the vicious cycle, thus not making new victims of which some can become new abusers and so on.
It’ll never end because victims hardly ever become abusers. Abusers can come from anything, they can have healthy childhoods and just be sick in the head. They can go from a tame subject and escalate to crimes, going further and further each time, and victims properly treating their trauma doesn’t mean that they won’t be hurt again or that they’re helping to end a cycle. Abusers will always exist.
It's actually more frequent than not, that victims then become abusive if they don't treat their trauma properly. Something about interiorization of the abuse.
Agreed. Also I find that when people try so very hard to make something sexy it just circles around to being unsexy, so that makes it that much easier for scorn to win that.
What in the cinnamon toast crunch were the people making these games were smoking?? Like... why when people think mature game = let's add some random sex and characters fcking everywhere?
> We should make a sex game, that always sells well. > We should make a horror game, that's popular in the indie scene. > We should combine these in the worst way possible.
because we're talking about two things. Mature can either mean "related to things we consider to be bad for kids to see" but also "an advanced understanding and portrayal." The latter isn't going to get marketed as a "mature" game. Nobody hears "mature game" and thinks "wow, this is going to have a balanced and sober depiction of complex topics."
A lot of my recommended media lately was I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and the character of Ellen and her trauma particularly stood out-- there was no visual or shock factor, but the perpetrator's very PRESENCE and the way he talks gave me chills. This is something Amanda should have gotten rather than whatever the hell this kooky mess is
What's always bothered me about these games is just how much of the market they occupy, even if no one's really buying them. It gives the perception that all men are disgusting dogs that don't care about anything more than "dominating" a women, and also generally just paints a really bad image of BDSM as a whole, even though the vast majority of BDSM is tame in comparison to...whatever this is.
"Now that we can cast the most powerful spell of all : bullet" I was drinking soup, now my keyboard is on the brink of death. What have you done, lady?
I've always disliked whenever a piece of media thinks in order to be 'mature' they put the grossest, worst thing a person can go though just for shock value. I'm not a victim of sa myself but it's absolutely disrespectful to those who are to use sa as a cheap way to try and use it for shock value The thing is that I think you can talk about this topic with the maturity and respect it deserves. The best example of this is Angela's story in Silent Hill 2. In that game we find out that she was abused as a child at the hands of her father and brother, her mother even knew but allowed it to continue, as a sick way of 'punishing' her, eventually this abuse results in Angela killing her father and running away to Silent Hill. The reason why it works where this game fails is that it treats Angela's story respectfully, there's no detailed seen of it happen, theres no flashback, we see how this traumatic event effected Angela. Not only that but it makes it clear that we shouldn't sympathise with her family, while we don't meet them the game shows them as the vile monsters they are, a father and son that abused an innocent person, their own daughter/sister just for their sick pleasure, and a mother that allowed it to happen right in front of her eyes. To this day its one of the few pieces of media that treats the topic of sa and the victim with respect and care
I do agree that Silent Hill treats this scenario respectfully, but I would argue that not showing the scene doesn't make it more respectful; there is a terror and visceral nature to seeing SA that can't be captured just in the after-effects, and authors should be allowed to do that. Whether they handle that well or not is up to how good the author is at that. For example, Fear and Hunger handles SA pretty well; it's fucked up, it's painful to watch, and it doesn't come off in any way as pretentious or tryhard, it's just presented as a "it happened and now you live (or die) with it" fashion. The depiction of it, however, is pretty damn visceral and not censored at all. Berserk is a more famous example; Guts has a very terrible past, and his sexual trauma does not get shied away from in its depiction.
@@theoneslayer8560 I agree, I didn't mean you can't show a scene of someone being abused, but it's more that a lot of the time when it is shown it comes across as fetishy and trying to shock the audience (13 reasons why is a good example on a piece of media having a scene of a character being abused and it comes across as trying to be as gross as possible just to shock the audience) but like you said both Fear and Hunger and Berserk show these scenes but it doesn't come across as trying to be edgy or the writers gross fetish, it's to show the cruel reality of these characters lives and how it effects them
It’s fictional, it doesn’t matter imo. From a csa survivor, I mean, yeah they could treat it with “care,” but that could be said with every form of violence in media. Also, the “writer’s barely disguised f*tish” lol.
"For me, it's always like this." will haunt me 4evr. One of my most persistent thoughts thru this video was "It's as if the devs thought Abstract Daddy was the coolest thing in SH & threw away all the meaning + gameplay beyond visceral Abstract Daddy-ness".
"Well, I had no idea how quickly the horror community - and it is a community - would wake up to the idea of scary porn. I wanted to release books that would give the reader a boner, but leave him too terrified to do anything about it. Within a week, I've coined the phrase "books that will scare you stiff", we've opened up a new "horrotica" division, and our sales just went silly." - Dean Learner, club owner, entrepreneur and publisher of high-class gentleman's magazines.
ngl some of the nightmare hellscapes they make are kinda interesting and inspired. Feels like you could do something interesting with those, if it wasn't written with the most juvenile understanding of sex you could imagine
It's got some interesting ideas with the whole 'the whole otherworld is a prison for its gods, who are trying to con mortals into helping them escape'... if it didn't insert 'fucking' as an adjective after every noun in that sentence.
This video randomly popped up on my feed, and this kinda shit tends to activate my neurons. I came for the piqued interest. I stayed for….. whatever fucking madness we just gradually descended into
I find it funny how they call these two games lovecraft inspired but it feels and looks more dante inferno than lovecraft heck to add insult to injury they added a Cthulhu statue in lust for darkness to have something lovecraftian in their game as an excuse to say it is.
It is Lovecraftian though? There’s weird beings from who-knows-where and cultists and what-not. It’s just that somebody decided to go public with their weird, culty, rape fetish. For some reason.
@@derekeastman7771 It looks like it but it does not feel like it heck if i remember howard lovecraft mention he was uncomfortable with the topic of sex wich is why the eldritch gods appeared just because and it takes more than just alien beings from who knows where and cults for the game to be classed as lovecraftian.
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen, and it definitely won’t be my last. I was laughing and cringing the whole time, but I really perked up when I heard the InFamous 2 theme music during the Amanda boss fight
I'm amused by the idea that Eldritch abominations beyond matter, time, and space are supposed to consider pleasure on our spectrum. Like, coming from basic missionary is the concievable limit of physical pleasure to alien consciousnesses that are so far removed from us, our or own deities have brain heammorrhages trying to work them out. But apparently an orgasm is the absolute extent of physical experience.
The fact that Darkwood doesn't even have any scripted jumpscares and still manages to force you to crap is awesome I still remember camping in the corner of every single night until the end of the game😂 And the third hideout was much more scrarier than the swamp hideout in my opinion - ain't surviving in a tight asylum surrounded by red chompers😭
It's weird that Lovecraftian Psychosexual Body Horror Game, a string of words that would likely kill a Victorian man, is a genre that's growing backwards in terms of how well the stories for them are written. Anyway thanks for the review, I'd been thinking of checking these out because I thought the aesthetic was cool, but now that I've heard the first 5 minutes of plot I think I'll just play Bloodborne for the millionth time. Great video, btw!
So this entire series is basically gorn (if gorn is an excessive mix of gore to the point of it being like po*n, then is there a word for that but with SA instead of gore?) for the sake of gorn and nothing else. Ugh there's no interesting message here; feels like the only reason this exists is for the devs to go, "Oooh look how nasty we are! Aren't you grossed out?!"
Games as medium have so much potential to get uncomfortable with "hedonistic descent into madness" trope. Make normal world design intentionally boring, but make other world impressive, sweeping vistas and shit, not a fleshy hf1 level. Then have nps point it out, isn't it so much beautiful? Make messed up choices reward player with more lore, forbidden knowledge and all that stuff. Make satisfying combat sequence, a power trip with limbs flying and finishing animations. Then you get to bad guy after, he's like - "Wasn't it fun? I know it was"
I got Lust of Darkness for shuts and giggles and because I love Lovecraftian mythos but I couldn't finish the game because I just find it so silly and bad. It's not even funny bad. It's just bad.
I think this is the result of PC gaming becoming mainstream and Steam deciding to no longer ban explicit sexual content letting devs play with the kind of extreme adult content that used to be taboo in western games and going overboard because of the novelty of it Sort of like that period in the 2000s when nearly every horror movie was gorey torture-porn because the MPAA suddenly decided they were okay releasing that sort of thing with an R-rating where mainstream theaters would show it
That is an interesting thought. So maybe this is kind of carthasis. A liberating act before something really mature can happen... So does this mean... Steam hits puperty now?
Yeah I think so too. It is same for early +18 manhwas and it is still going on. Most mature content in manhwas are focusing on the taboo subjects and spectacle of it rather than realism, pshychological accuracy, character building, story etc. Completely normal people with caring personalities somewhat turn into a sex freaks in bed that do non con or rape. After that victim doesnt even get trauma or some shit. Even the ones with normal relationships start with sex in the first chapter and they start fucking around like rabbits every two chapters because they put the smut tag so they need to milk it dry. As a person who is used to read ffs with little to no sex scenes or sex scenes only given thought bonus chapters. This kinda behaviour is weird for me. I dont wanna read a 50 chapter porn we have one shots for that,I wanna read 50 chapter substance or I am gonn leave bwcause if wantwd porn I would go for porn.
@@vivil2533 sure, there are always folks pushing boundaries, but once a boundary "brakes" and a regulation/ban gets lifted or taboo becomes excepted(often because enough boundary pushers wore it out and no one cares anymore) then those folks need to go farther or simply become part of the "norm". In a way that sort of was the topic/"theme" the game almost kinda tries to touch on with the degenerative lust obsessed cult and the god they worship.
very glad that you took time to talk about bdsm as a normal thing, since there are many misconceptions and it's often used to paint people as dangerous in media
This randomly popped up on my feed and this was so worth the watch. I played the Sequel and my experience not even knowing Lust from Beyond was a sequel, beyond the smut I can honestly see the potential for *something* really unique, but instead it felt like like the game was like the writers borrowed a “romantic” book (the ones with the covers that would appeal to a certain demographic paired with a glass of wine) and add a dash of “Lovecraftian” elements. Loved the vid though, glad I clicked on it!
Now, while sexual horror is definitely something that COULD be explored... You really couldn't get away with it without pulling some major taboos in the game. For the hypothetical dev, make it a decent into hedonistic madness and a loss of morality. Starts out light, maybe colors are a bit more colorful and food is described as tasting better or even has regained its flavor after a stagnant life, descends into utter disgusting debauchery. Lean into it being gross, because it is, and make the player the last shred of the character's conscience. So basically make a game about someone falling to Slaanesh.
@@morgantodd3748 No there's some Slaaneshi routes in plenty of eroge on steam. The problem with this game is it wants to look like a more expensive Amnesia but the team don't have Frictional's Experience and writing or a doujin community to compete with like the better Japanese erotic horror games.
I can get behind this horny nonsense. Suppose we make a drinking game out of it, where we take a shot Everytime something pointless happens whose sole purpose is shock value. How drunk would we be?
I don't know why I was recommended this video, why I clicked on it, or why I watched for as long as I did. All I want to say is that you have a very nice voice and narration style. Now back to looking at more cat videos to clean up my recommended feed.
31:38 great video, top tier, but this song at the end jumpscared me lmfao A really good geometry dash level uses this song and I literally just watched a showcase of it
So, the game basically tries to be as graphic and disturbing as possible that it loops back around to being silly? I will say I kind of enjoy the fleshy environments this game has, it definitely nails that lovecraftian feel
the art direction definitely had some good ideas, maybe a bit too derivative of H R Geiger, but that's to be expected considering just his work on Alien and Species
As someone who has seen the worst of internet things (Don't ask me about the maid or the bugs) I looked at the trailer for each and simply just was bored. Its listed as a porn on steam and it acts like a porn with nothing really to say. Outlast 1 and 2 did a simlar thing to me where nudity was used so much you kind off get to this feeling numbness and just want to go back to slime rancher, gears of war or even just a better more relaxing fap like honey select. You saying that "This could have just been endless happiness and nothing would change" was a perfect way to describe them. Subbed because trying to dissect filth and taking the lessons on how not to write or create is interesting and i would love to hear your thoughts on this.
I'm glad most people are understanding the point I wanted to make b/c god damn it this can be done well, they just didn't do anything with the subject matter.
Got to say, the visuals of this game are pretty good. And that's from a guy who listened to 95% of this and actually looked the screen maybe three times and it was blurred anyways. Ironically, I was referring mostly to textures on doors and walls and the masks. I'm a huge fan of The Cell movie and while this is well below that caliber, it's definitely got a few of the same notes. Someone in the dev team knows a thing or two about art.
The visuals are the problem though. The high fidelity and chasing those graphics hurt it. If it was a 2d game in a tile based engine with similar art design and the cult's mansion slowly transformed and re-arranged as you did puzzles and the reality's merged and there was almost none of this character dialogue just the player character being able to actually interact with the environment it would work so much better.
Train wreck of the first game aside: I wish there were more of a clear dichotomy in the second game: a sex-positive cult that treasured consent and celebrated K1nks and f33t and Bd3m and showed how these weren't 'bad' things and that giving and receiving pleasure can be 'sacred' (ha). The bad cult would have been: focused on self-pleasure- taking without asking and overriding another's will. The end result of both-cults-are-bad-for-the-same-reasons was just poor writing imho.
I don’t want to defend this game but I will say this is kind of a weak criticism. The game doesn’t need to talk down to the audience and explain that “kinks are good as long as everyone is consenting.” This game is made for adults and doesn’t need to teach people such a basic lesson about consent. The point is that the SA and assault is horrifying and the player should be horrified. Granted, the game does a bad job at conveying that because the imagery is so rampant and blunt that you just become numb to it while playing, it ceases to be horrifying as intended and just becomes annoying as it tries desperately to go “ooo look isn’t this gross and scary???”
@@kingcyclops4079I completely agree! The topic of a sex crazed cult definitely has potential to be a cool horror game but it needs to be done in a way that is correct and doesn’t involve non consented acts
@@kingcyclops4079 Fair point. I 100% agree on the numbness. And yes you're right these things are meant to be portrayed as horrifying. I think for me it was just that they displayed k1nks AS the grotesque parts. Like "ooo look at how taboo!!" while also lumping them together with SA and murder and mutilation. Obviously not the nuance I expect from this game but I just wish there were more separation.
Like the game could have gone steadily more creepy and/or messed up as the 'bad' influences started to take hold of the "good" cult and we watch them become more vicious and evil over time. Turning something positive into something awful- watching the horror unfold as your character is unable to do anything about it. But the fact that one cult was a sad1sm light and the other was sad1sm BIG felt lazy.
@@mjoberg6695 I would say the better way would be to have the horror instead be more psychological. You and your wife meet this cult and thinking it’s just some nice commune full of people who are a little too open but still nice. But as the game goes on, hints are dropped throughout the experience that something is wrong. Your wife becomes more involved in the cult’s rituals til eventually you try to just casually leave after an argument with your wife but then you are kidnapped and taken cult’s dungeons. Now the game can be more harder with its subject and lean into horror. We are shown how over time people get indoctrinated, maybe the wife is miserable and turns to the cult for support that the husband can’t provide or they help heal her trauma. You see the members of the cult and how seemingly normal they are on the surface before it’s revealed much later how the cult has warped and twisted their lives. The goal in my hypothetical is to show the real horror in how evil can hide in plain sight and manipulate you and even go as far as to normalize their behavior. The later part if the game can delve into the whole cosmic horror stuff but what’s more important is to show the cult members as people first, get to know them and sympathize with them til it’s eventually revealed how dangerous the cult actually is. This can make the player feel both sympathy and dread towards the cult members as they are also being manipulated like the wife but they’re also antagonists who have done horrible things but to what extent they did so freely is subjective to how the player views the cult as a whole.
A couple of years ago I took a lot of cabs to and from work, and one of the drivers told me about the Lust games apropos of nothing and claimed his brother made them. Every time I saw him after that he'd ask if I'd played them. It's nice to know that I was right for not bothering.
As everyone said, the idea and theme was interesting, since the subject "Sex in media" always been way more risque than "Violence and Gore", but the execution come out (no pun) a bit forced and edgy.
Really glad you made the best and most important criticism of these pretentious games - all of the sexual stuff is deeply tertiary, merely a premium skin for a standard modern day eldritch horror. All it adds is aesthetic and an excuse for the writers to feel kooky and play on old stereotypes. its so trite that I feel more insulted that this is otherwise a little competent
There are games that hit this kind of horror better. I forget the names of the earlier one and have yet to complete Fear&Hunger. Reproductive horror, body horror, mutation and other worlderly entities causing these are topics that are usually avoided or hinted at. When heavily used are usually crude. It’s one of the best means for a malevolent Eldritch being to corrupt, controll, and invade a realm/planet since you can “create” followers and slowly build you cult over centuries. It’s mostly just weird smut though. 😢
A common trope of Lovecraftian Horror is that people exposed to the horrors (that survive) are marked forever, eventually either succumbing to the madness, ending themselves, or perpetuating the cycle by founding/joining their own cult. Combining that with SA is way on the nose and obliterates the nuance of either topic due to the immediate and immense disgust that amounts to the question "how did someone come up with this and make it into anything past a few chapters on some web fiction page?"
Those games were made before Scorn came out. Even though they are gross sometimes (skipped some scenes), UA-camrs covered them and even at the time they weren't well received. Though found some parts of the story, level design, puzzles and mechanics enjoyable but in general didn't even age a bit it's still has the same reception as at the time of release. Which is mixed.
I tapped out on the first game. What the fuck? It's not horrifying. Or sexy. Or too erotic in 'unconventional' ways. It's just, to borrow a word from the youths, cringe.
i dont know if im biased because the worlds are so cool, but outlast and alien are literally the only horror with sexual undertones/moments that feel fitting. Usually the other stuff feels too unsubtle, and straight up unnessecary, basically.
Alien does it really really well and there was a very strong return to it in Romulus IMHO as there were several shots and sequences that were especially effective in that regard.
Imagine if Amnesia 2 was instead titled: Amnesia: A Machine for Eternal Fucking
oh noooooo 😭😂
Everything’s the same but all of the “pigs” are just regular humans with the bdsm nose hook thing
Would play
Luustgar is only one degree more subtle than just calling it "Fuck Dimension"
Honestly if they just called it The Fuck Dimension that would've at least made me laugh
I’m doing my own rewrite and calling it Lustgard- a definite Human Attempt To Parse The Name.
Still coomer garbage anyway, lol
there's this one mission in cyberpunk 2077 where you have to rescue a lady from this dingy basement that is basically a snuff film factory (i think they're called XBDs in the lore). and despite the mission not showing ANYTHING violent whatsoever, the way it's described, the titles of some of the XBDs (like 'acid bath 2' and 'no limbs no problem') and the computer notes talking about all the actors they have 'lost' is 100x more disturbing and effective than whatever gore-porn these games are trying to do, without even showing anything.
actually well done 'disturbing' stories like that work the best when they leave the viewer's imagination to shudder in horror about how awful it could be.
On my first playthrough that mission was the moment my stealthy Non-Lethal approach ended.

While V definitely has reasons to track down Christine prior, thanks to the whole Relic thing, I don't think the average player would want what happens to her in the end to happen for several reasons. The whole Judy sidestory, romance or not, is an interesting and mature take on sexwork in general IMO and some of the horrors that comes from it in the cyberpunk world.
With you there. Scavs don't deserve mercy, even the downed ones get finished off.@@vennicerunnos
To be fair, gore porn can still be done maturely. Like the first Outlast. But it's not violation for the sake of it. It's violation as an introduction into what the characters are all about.
Dr. Trager comes to mind.
I'd be much more disturbed with titles like "Tear Her A New One" in that context, tbh.
I usually don't care for youtubes ads, but the placement of one for cleaning supplies right after, "Willard was right. Let's FUCK!" Was comedic gold
Right after “Willard was right. Let’s-“ I got an ad. It then came back to “- fuck!” And the video went on from there
This kinda reminds me of a video I watched where a guy made a Pathfinder character sheet for XP to Level 3.
So the video ended up going like this:
“Jacob and his clones are coming for us? They’re coming for your-
Dawn power wash dish soap”
This had me cackling for a good minute.
This is probably the only video, where I was relieved that there was an ad.
After that last line, I got an add for the Chris Pratt Garfield movie.
The ad I got was Lily's garden and her saying "I can't stand her". Perfectly aligned
the funny thing is these games could have an interesting take on sexual enjoyment vs sexual exploitation, with Amanda as a protagonist like you suggested. a person traumatised by the cult and trying to eliminate it so no one has to suffer like she did. and as someone with SA trauma, the angle of "I liked it in the end" could be explored as horror and how the brain tries to shut out the trauma, and how facing what happened to us and overcoming it is healthier in the long run.
There could be an ending where Amanda likes it as said and it's implied she will on to do the same to others
But another ending where's it's implied she's on the road to healing and she and John contribute to others who have traumatized
And maybe a third ending that's somewhere in between good and bad
I am not kidding when I say Fear & Hunger handles the concepts of SA and Sadomasochism with more tact than these games lol
I did enjoy Supereyepatchwolf's video on the first game 👌
@@khanlusaIf you don't mind spoilers, wormgirl has a very long video on both FH games which pretty much follows a full playthrough, very recommended
This. F&H is the only game that handles this subject right, while also being interesting.
Of all the methods I've seen small devs use to avoid having to animate faces, setting the game in an Eyes Wide Shut masked sex party is one of the more clever ones.
I can fault their writing but not their creativity lmao
It’s been done before in games like Chernobylite, but I feel like it especially helps in this game. It’s bad enough that all you see is SA and gore, but imagine putting a face to that. Imagine having to animate that. And imagine the worst Elder Scrolls puppet looking face during all those scenes of debauchery and gore. Masks were the only right call this game had lol.

@@Ckoz2829 wow never thought i would see chernobylite being mentioned anywhere

I don't know, I felt pretty terified being chased around the hotel by "leather daddies" 😂
Funnily enough, you've just described the plot of Rezident Evil 7
@@NiCoNiCoNiCola oh shit you're right
It's pretty funny/ironic that "mature" so often ends up meaning "childish", isn't it.
How to do this right: Silent Hill 2
or too horny dev who doesnt understand the basic concept of consent.
@@BasedOverflow it was written with one hand
oh no more of the ol' set of perceived standards that you have in regards to what's apparently 'mature' and not 'mature' - but also trying to rectify the contrived meanings of what's 'mature' and what's 'adult' and how apparently they don't correspond in 'meaning' because once again, that's your perceived set of standards to how you can determine and objectify the truth in the meaning of 'mature' and what's not mature as well as bringing in a paradoxical term to correlate with the concept of 'maturity'...
so apparently, these games have 'very surface level' of presentation of such topics, but you know what is funny, is that you're comment/take/explanation/elaboration or whatever is also pretty 'very surface level' when it comes to your set of perceived standards especially with (i think almost) everyone here in this video, which includes the UA-camr too, against the seemingly 'very surface level' of presentation and showcase, to which i point out...
why can't something that seems to be presented, and showcased with 'simplicity' then can't be exemplified with whatever nuance that comes to be out of its presentation and showcase..?
if you want to 'criticise' the games/movies for doing this then why can't you 'criticise' - reality then..?
if you can't comprehend nor differentiate nor try to gain an outlook on different perspectives, then you're maybe better off not delving in these types of topics at all with how much (and not just you) it irks your set of perceived standards to what and how its supposed to be 'handled'...
gotta love how you and the Hive-Mind here is able to go on a bandwagon, and determine what 'mature' & 'immature' means in actuality, when unironicly it just exemplifies the level of volumes that a certain 'perception' will hold and get in the way of making a video that supposedly 'criticises' against the game for being 'immature' shock-slop with poor handling of 'complex themes' - it's always the survivors/victims/LGBTQ wannabe types that want to determine in its objective form of how to 'handle these complex themes' in juxtaposition of a perception that sets a certain standard of how it's supposed to be 'handled' and how it shouldn't be...
its also paradoxical that there are ppl in the comments who criticise the games to be 'immature' shock-slop, but then spew out something that you found 'funny' which isn't far off to the type of 'immature' or childishness that you're going against in this video.

Giger and Cronenberg popularised it. plants but flesh is a pretty simple jump, afterall a field of flowers is a field of sex organs.

Or that people who practice BDSM are animals.

That would be both horrifying enough, and allow focus on the porn to make it better for the loonies who want to jerk off of a videogame.
so you’re saying you want a story of the eye videogame

This is true. They either reject it or it's they become obsessed with it
It’ll never end because victims hardly ever become abusers.
And the game devs did not think of that
@alexgac1801 this is true. Speaking from experience

because we're talking about two things.
Mature can either mean "related to things we consider to be bad for kids to see" but also "an advanced understanding and portrayal."
The latter isn't going to get marketed as a "mature" game.
I'm not a victim of sa myself but it's absolutely disrespectful to those who are to use sa as a cheap way to try and use it for shock value
The thing is that I think you can talk about this topic with the maturity and respect it deserves.
@@theoneslayer8560 I agree, I didn't mean you can't show a scene of someone being abused, but it's more that a lot of the time when it is shown it comes across as fetishy and trying to shock the audience (13 reasons why is a good example on a piece of media having a scene of a character being abused and it comes across as trying to be as gross as possible just to shock the audience) but like you said both Fear and Hunger and Berserk show these scenes but it doesn't come across as trying to be edgy or the writers gross fetish, it's to show the cruel reality of these characters lives and how it effects them
I feel like Rule of Rose also handles SA and more serious topics better than most horror games.
It’s fictional, it doesn’t matter imo. From a csa survivor, I mean, yeah they could treat it with “care,” but that could be said with every form of violence in media. Also, the “writer’s barely disguised f*tish” lol.

Narrator voice clean and soothing af
They really went a weird direction with the Majora's Mask sequel, huh?
So this entire series is basically gorn (if gorn is an excessive mix of gore to the point of it being like po*n, then is there a word for that but with SA instead of gore?) for the sake of gorn and nothing else. Ugh there's no interesting message here; feels like the only reason this exists is for the devs to go, "Oooh look how nasty we are! Aren't you grossed out?!"
like bro we kill each other on a daily basis and we got so good at it we started beginning ourselves to stop
Don't sully the good name of Gorn. That game may be all about beating the crap out of people, but at least it isn't perverted.
@@_DMNO_ Oh Gorn the game having that name is perfectly fine since the game itself is good at being self-aware of how over the top it is lol
I can't with the dialogue omg😭😭😭
Amanda's delivery on "let's fuck" took me out, I had to get up from the desk and wheeze elsewhere 😂💀
I am not getting over how hilarious "Lusst'ghaar" sounds.
I think this is the result of PC gaming becoming mainstream and Steam deciding to no longer ban explicit sexual content letting devs play with the kind of extreme adult content that used to be taboo in western games and going overboard because of the novelty of it
Sort of like that period in the 2000s when nearly every horror movie was gorey torture-porn because the MPAA suddenly decided they were okay releasing that sort of thing with an R-rating where mainstream theaters would show it
That is an interesting thought. So maybe this is kind of carthasis. A liberating act before something really mature can happen... So does this mean... Steam hits puperty now?
Even if that's not the case, there will always be people who just want to push the boundaries just for the shock value.
@@cryptidproductions3160 >pc gaming becoming mainstream
Yeah, that didn't happened now
very glad that you took time to talk about bdsm as a normal thing, since there are many misconceptions and it's often used to paint people as dangerous in media
About 10 minutes in I got completely lost in the mess of names and never recovered
Was about to say “this is just slaanesh”
Honestly what we got is probably about as deep into Slaanesh territory as the game coulda gotten while still being allowed on Steam.
Dead, I think...
Alcohol poisoning by the middle of the first game if we're lucky.
Rest in rip
Alcohol poisoning
Pretty sure your liver would be finished before the game was... at least the second one.
We'd be so dead we wouldnt exist
I don't know why I was recommended this video, why I clicked on it, or why I watched for as long as I did. All I want to say is that you have a very nice voice and narration style. Now back to looking at more cat videos to clean up my recommended feed.
same i'm worried for my recommended now lol
31:38 great video, top tier, but this song at the end jumpscared me lmfao
A really good geometry dash level uses this song and I literally just watched a showcase of it
“…now that we can cast the most powerful spell of all: Bullet.”
😂😂😂 I cackled
The helicopter sound at [4:07] made my spit out my coffee 😆 Excellent, top tier, simply marvellous editing.
But it wouldn't be viscerally repulsive if everyone was just blissed out and the portals took you to your happy place. It'd be uncomfortable at worst.
No idea how you can bundle in outlast with this game when they are completely different???
@@hamburger3797 I think it's mostly the rape & sexual abuse that can happen to the protagonists
@@khanlusa so, only Whistleblower?
Outlast 1 had a few mentions of this but aside from the twins most psychos lacked genitals
28:51 Khanlusa: "Nihilism is for sad little losers."
Me, a sad little loser: "Yes"
That 0:03 line is the hardest line in gaming history, put some Thirty Seconds To Mars - The Kill (Bury Me) on it
Got to say, the visuals of this game are pretty good.
Oh yeah, the masks are actually pretty impressive.
This is the first video of yours I'm catching and I have to say I appreciate the mix of deliberate caring caution and playful snark. Subscribed.
Man can I say I really appreciate you inserting F.E.A.R 2 and SH2 OST, some of my favorite horror games.
A couple of years ago I took a lot of cabs to and from work, and one of the drivers told me about the Lust games apropos of nothing and claimed his brother made them. Every time I saw him after that he'd ask if I'd played them. It's nice to know that I was right for not bothering.
Oh my god that must have been so awkward 💀
That last sentence can pretty much sun both of these games up.
Someone really looked at Scorn and said "I can make that even worse!"
9:30 I thought bro was just putting their spin on what the dialogue was not that it was the actual dialogue
i dont know if im biased because the worlds are so cool, but outlast and alien are literally the only horror with sexual undertones/moments that feel fitting. Usually the other stuff feels too unsubtle, and straight up unnessecary, basically.
Alien does it really really well and there was a very strong return to it in Romulus IMHO as there were several shots and sequences that were especially effective in that regard.
You have my absolute condolences for the pain this video has put you and your team through.
This is a one woman show, I'm sitting in the corner screaming by myself, my cat is very concerned lmao
