👆 Elektron Digitone Keys 8-voice Digital Desktop Synthesizer with 37-note Keybed - tinyurl.com/yxauxs2j
The Digitone is among Elektron’s most popular bits of kit, and is arguably one of the most sought-after mid-price desktop synths on the market. Now they’ve supercharged it with a fresh tactile interface (while keeping it familiar and compact) and heaps of new features - oh, and did we mentioned there’s a 37-note keybed? Go forth and unleash digital chaos.
Elektron’s Digitone is an accessible 4-track FM desktop synth that made waves in the industry. It went against the grain to make digital synthesis cool again; the result was a mind-bending palette of throbbing basslines, jagged waveforms and crystalline ambience. With the Digitone Keys, Elektron have made it more accessible than ever.
The headline feature is the 37-note semi-weighted keyboard. The Digitone Keys is entirely self-contained, with the capacity to produce a track end-to-end in one unit. Elektron fans will be pleased to know that they’ve largely kept the main interface the same; the keybed appears to have been bolted on, but with a few extra bells and whistles. You’ve got pitch & mod wheels, plus 8 extra control knobs, all of which are assignable.

I think the patches in that bank are from the original Digitone and don't have aftertouch. Try some presets from the other bank.

This is a sexy keyboard! Love the unconventional design.

As someone who is interested but skeptical of the Digitone (the base sound of the unit just doesn't appeal to me in most instances) I came here looking for an alternative to the "High Praise for the Digitone" reviews or the "Digitone Ambient" user videos. This *was* different, but I'd hope that future videos go into sound design or use of the sequencer. I feel like with an hour or two of hands-on study, the performer of these pieces could learn to create a beat on one or two tracks and jam over that while changing the parameters. The noodling is fun, but really misses the point of the instrument.

As others have said, try a another bank - there is definitely a whole bank with aftertouch and mod wheel pre-programmed

Very diplomatic first thoughts, or rather third thoughts as you clearly thought twice before saying how you felt. As someone who's been following this channel for quite some time and who kinda only stuck around through the rough edges because of the magic that occured when all human voices silenced and your fingers had conversations with those keys - I just want to say that I see, appreciate, and applaud how you guys have evolved over time. I genuinely believe you when you say that you listen to and take to heart your audience's feedback. Kudos, and I look forward to your further thoughts on the Digitone Keys after you've spent some time with it. I'm pretty sure most of the synth world agrees with your initial, let's say "shock" about the layout and look. I recently picked up a normal Digitone and am impressed, but I'm also a passionate keyboard player and almost immediately started using it as a midi voice module with a 49 key controller board (yeah, sadly entirely ignoring the incredibly powerful sequencer). So I'm quite curious to know if the 37 keys justify doubling the pricetag. I'm... Skeptical... But it's definitely a bad ass synth.

Also you might not hear the total bits of dx7 you might want because it’s also a subtractive synth at the end of the channel...just thinking out loud

G# is A flat. Purely because in order to maintain the intervals of the major scale in G# you'd need to use several double sharps (G# A# B# C# D## E## F## G#). In A flat this is unnecessary
