More of Part 8 of a short series of videos where I look into using an Arduino to control signals on my model railway layout. In this part I go into further options on using reed switches instead of infrared detectors, to my surprise the reed switch can be placed under the deck and still be detected by a passing train.

Did you pay attention to the orientation of the reed switch when you were doing these tests, because it does make a difference as to the orientation of the actual reed (if that makes sense)...
