This movie.I’ve been watching this movie since I was 15 years old and for me it is just pure perfection. The sets, the sound design, the editing the music, the costumes, the cinematography and the acting. Just all superb and everyone firing in all cylinders. It has mystery, drama, comedy and a slight dash of horror. It’s a movie that I’d choose to take with me if I’m stranded on an island
We are fortunate to be participants in this film. Rarely can we look back at a movie and say, with pride, " I have seen this recently and would gladly watch it again immediately."
I was very lucky to have been shown this movie in high school music class. I fell in love with Mozart's music and loved it ever since. Thank you Milos Foreman and the Amadeus cast
I've worn out 2 VHS copies of this film. Became obsessed with it in my teens and still am. Especially once I finally saw the Directors cut. Those missing scenes added so much to the continuity of the storyline. Not to mention getting to see Stanzy disrobe. This film is an absolutely timeless cinematic masterpiece. I'll never tire of watching it.
An amazing film. I saw “Amadeus” decades ago. Milos Foreman died today. It was a treat to see him in action, recalling the making of the film. Very well made film. Bravo! Now I want to see “Amadeus” again. Right now.
I add Immortal Beloved to that list. All three, plus origtrig Star Wars were movies my dad showed me for the first time, so - apart from being great movies - they have special significance to me. Uploader, thank you for the making of!
Forty years ago, the film was love at first sight for me. Since then Mozart has been a friend, a traveling companion, an absolute genius still alive and vital today. ✨✨
Its an astonishing piece of film production. This is where you learn what you need to know. And what you need to understand just how seasoned professionals approach their work.
Ida Dudenmanner Amadeus and Dead Poets Society remain my favorite works of his. On the other hand, I had an experience similar to yours when I heard of another genuine man's passing: Robin Williams. I took it as if it was a personal loss, and I vividly remember my tears rolling down as I read and then re-read the unbelievable news. It still seems as if it just cannot be true.
@adahs6994 I thank MY POPO for having both my brothers study classical music. My one who is 10 years older plays classical guitar. MY one who is 8 years older play classical piano. I grew up on Mozart and all the other classical artists of the day. I didn't even realize this movie was made until YESTERDAY. My brother had come over bringing groceries and dinner and we started talking about movies. We were actually talking about the documentary on Yogi Bera his grand-daughter did. It's playing today by my brother's house and she's going to be there speaking after the documentary is shown. Somehow we got on to music and we started talking about the movie Amadeus. Sooo... That's what landed me here today and I'm so happy! WE were raised so many different genres of music in our household. THIS behind-the-scenes look is a gem is well! Music transcends every culture AND brings healing to yourself and also to the world. #Taino #Mohawk #NYGenXBIKERLady
Brilliant work from all. And a really enjoyable documentary on an extraordinary subject- Wolfang Amadeus Mozart. The film was waiting to happen and the level it needed to reach needed to succeed in authenticity and carrying the script of the play. Milos nailed it. The cast and crew succeeded.
Yes, of course it’s an amazing movie. But this might just be the best making of I’ve ever seen. Everyone gives their honest and true account of their feelings and their intent at the time. The film is a masterpiece, but for damn sure so is this.
Vážený pane Formane, R.I.P., tam nahoru pozdrav.
My absolute favorite movie! I have seen it many times since 1984 and am very happy to have found this documentary. We just got back from a visit to Salzburg where we visited Mozart's birth home and saw all the history they have displayed there. Made me wonder how Milos Foreman came up with the idea for the film. And now I know. Truly amazing creative process, talent and skill from everyone who was involved. A masterpiece!
...for me, even without the movie...whenever I listen to the music of Mozart, it brings a certain clarity and brightness to my day. Just to think that he wrote this music all these hundreds of years ago... and it's still here...with us...
The brilliance and the perfection of this movie makes it not only one of the best ever but also a great work of art itself that fully deserves Mozart’s music. It has introduced millions of people like me to the greatness of Mozart. I consider myself lucky to be one of those to have Mozart’s music to be appreciated in life. To Milos Forman and Peter Shaffer, Thank you Sirs.
It’s impossible to watch Amadeus just once, and every time it makes the same profound impression. It’s an amazing movie, a master piece ❤ And one of the most interesting historical movies I ever watched, and probably the best one about a composer - at least I never found anything better…Enjoyed watching this documentary!
Yes, Milos ! Genius meets Genius ! Fantastic documentary of the film ! Even if you don't like classical music . There is so much more to the story than just a boring historical film ! The film is not boring at all ! It's perfection with wonderful drama !!!
Millions have posted videos we've liked. Milos Forman created a Period Piece Motion Picture which will forever be a classic that will withstand all time. "Challenge that, Generation-X!" TY for posting. R.I.P. Milos Forman.
The greatest movie ever made,!! My honest opinion. !! Seen it countless times and it is still my greatest pain in this life...Why did such an incredible genius had to die at 36 years old !!
Thank you so much for uploading this fascinating documentary on the most perfect film. I've watched this film(yesterday again) so many times and two stage productions. Nothing beats the film , the acting is sensational , even the small parts of Salieri's maid sent to work and spy on Mozart are brilliant , of course F.Murray Abraham is magnificent as Salieri, the film has not dated in anyway . Although brought up listening to pop and rock , i'll be buying Mozart's Requiem in D Minor used on that fantastic scene at the end of this masterpiece.I used to find classical music had...."too many notes" ha ha
So much to be said about this film. Tom Hulce's boyish charm, F. Murray Abraham's capturing of the pure fascination of Mozart, Foreman's casting and set dressing, etc.. One of those movies that deserved the awards it got.
I just discovered this Film in TikTok and I went find it on Netflix but it wasn’t there after two weeks Netflix announced it but I couldn’t wait I had to pay to watch it in UA-cam since then is in my favorite list of Film I have already watched it more than 13 times still continue to watch it at least twice a week
Diane Franklin was the unnamed mystery actress who flew with Berridge to Prague for the final auditions I can see why it was hard for Milos to choose: neither one was a recognizable mega-star, which is what he wanted; they were both vivacious petite brunettes, but Franklin *was* too pretty -- actually, I thought she looked cute as button; not quirky enough for Forman...
I can go back to this film like all of Milos Foreman's films and its as if the movie is brand new to me. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Ragtime Amadeus Valmont The People vs. Larry Flynt Man on the Moon. The man was a master film maker.
The best movie in the world. The most gracious representation of Mozart ever existed. I think He would be so happy, seeing himself like that. Watched more than 100 times?… idk! Best. Best. Best.
I don't watch 99.99% movies anymore because of how screwed up Hollywood and the evil forces that run it are, but this film was and is a timeless masterpiece that everyone should see. Mozart was made special by the creator like few others.
Mozart is my favorite composer by far!! I've watched the movie countless times and I listen to Mozart's music almost daily. It gives me a peace and a calming awareness that no other music brings.
F. Murray Abraham seems like such a sweet, eloquent, reflective guy. I love the idea of him running off to dinner with a dumbass friend who just crashed a chandelier trying to outsmart the Czechoslovak secret police.
@@svgo9956 I had no idea! Thanks for telling me. Was this him doing method acting for Salieri, or does he always behave that way? I know Daniel Day Lewis is famously difficult because he never goes out of character, and that can make filming with him uncomfortable. The results are great though...
@@saveusmilkboy If he is a narcissist which I belive it´s a personality trait and can´t change. It´s only a part of the person and other parts can play different roles but a domineering part.
28:00 the story of the actress of Constanze being replaced is creepy - I mean: in real life Mozart's first choice/love was Constanze's older sister Aloisia and after she rejected him the ways of the family with Mozrat parted for a while but then after another meeting Constanze came up as resolution.. C'MON universe what are you doing??
Thank goodness for Concorde and the USSR As a WASP, i noticed a very, very slight American accent, here and there, in retrospect. Stunning production! Islam cannot supply this!
The greatest movies have Making of's which are as great, sometimes better than some other movies. Like Lord of the Rings, Amadeus, the passion and genius seeps through everything, from the way the directors talk about their initial ideas, to the crews working, to the finished product.
I watched Amadeus 72 times on my VCR with my new bride before we stopped counting.
The happiest days of my life.

I've seen this film over 50 times so far, since its release in 1984, and it's still as fresh as ever. What a wonderful director we've lost!
I can't get over that laugh 😂
HA HA 😂 You've Seen It 45 More Times Than I
Same here. It's such an engaging film and never gets old for me.
Watched the film over 50 times in one week...got goosebumps when I realized that was during the week of 4th of July.
We are fortunate to be participants in this film. Rarely can we look back at a movie and say, with pride, " I have seen this recently and would gladly watch it again immediately."
That's really neat! How were you involved?
Fantastic!! I know that feeling!

❤❤❤I agree with you i just love this movie
this film, to me, is like an old friend who shows up n makes me smile exactly when I need it the most!!
It is very timeless isn't it?
I only recently watched it for the first time and had absolutely no idea it was filmed in the mid 80s. A truely timeless classic
One of my favorite movies EVER. Thank you, Milos Forman, for making this masterpiece!

I was very lucky to have been shown this movie in high school music class. I fell in love with Mozart's music and loved it ever since. Thank you Milos Foreman and the Amadeus cast
This movie is such a blessing. Just visited Prague and it only enhances the magic in the film.
I’m 45. I’ve been watching Amadeus since I was 12. All that time I was convinced Salieri was played by two different actors.
