- NPC wars in Trepang2.
Initially the idea was to have some fun, break the game in a variety of ways, film some funny physics and NPC silliness (and that is very much present). But at one point some characters started looking kind of distinct and I began filming what's happening to them. Actually got kinda invested in their story. Seeing the remnants of the attacking force finding themselves in a fight for their lives.
I think the NPCs deserves an Oscar, frankly.

Half-life if the science team got firearms training like Gordon
Considering the most important people for the resistance against the combine came from Black Mesa if they actually had firearms training increasing their odds with making it out the Combine would stand no chance at all even with minimal involvement from Gordon.
NPC fights are one of those things you like since you were a preteen and still like even into your adult life.

that little detail of the last soldier standing pushing away the corpse of his comrade and occasionally peeking nervously somewhere in its direction was just so bee's knees
It's weird. I commented on the other Trepang2 video about the destruction feeling way too much and the particle effects being distracting, but in this viewing angle and distance it looks really damn good. Strange how giving a little more room to breathe and being less claustrophobic completely changes the feel of the destruction.
IMO even the very exaggerated particle effects here are done in good taste. Didn't bother me at any point personally
@@RandomMadnessChannel imo it even adds almost the same dust aspect fear did where if your under heavy fire and you have the effects on insane the dust clouds will prevent you from seeing anything making you change cover
I like the fact every casing and empty magazine are keep in the ground, not so many games keep these after some seconds nowadays
I think that every magazine stays, but I'm not sure if every casing (otherwise it would get much more messy). Either way, really cool whatever they did there

this may be the first game where an npc can lean peek (i've seen it in other games too, but not unscripted and dynamic like here. in other games they just go to the "peeking spot" placed by the dev)

NPC battle is present in this game?? I am in! When is the game releasing? And do the ragdolls despawn after battle?
You can do that with the debug menu and it's loads of fun.
You'll see in the video, bodies do vanish, but an "insane+" config for the mess is planned so we should be able to push things even further in the future

The game will be moddable, so hopefully these values will be tweakable directly

We need more gore, dismemberment, blood, etc... But looks good, have Potential
The AI needs to be tweaked a bit though. Scientists carrying just pistols shouldn't beat an actual army with body armour and shield and assault rifles.
I think what happens here is AI optimization - the game is not really built for such character count, so I think it might prioritize the scientists, which are considered enemy AI over the soldiers which are friendly to the player.
the scientists are joke enemies so realism doesn't really apply to them
