  • Let's take a look at a "Philips" branded portable vacuum that was being sold in a flash sale.
Is it too good to be true? Or is it great sale price for a little vacuum that you could use inside your car?

DTI should monitor about fake brands at online stores. even samsung nvme and kingston ssd's also spreading fake products at online stores

DTI should hold both Lazada, Shopee, or any other stores responsible that even allow these things to happen.
They should give a bit more effort into verifying the sellers if they're actually Samsung, Philips, etc. if they can't verify themselves, the platform should shut that shop down. And if there's enough complaint about the shops/seller selling counterfeit ngood, they should shut them down as well.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  3 місяці тому +1

I think that at the very least, they should maintain a list of brand names, and then require further verification if someone wants to use the brand name in their store name.
With so many scams and fake items flooding these platforms, I think they really have to consider whether they have the right people working on this problem.
It seems like whoever is creating all these shops, are far smarter than the ones administrating the online sales platforms.

I wonder if Philips or Samsung can shut these fake stores down and if it goes to court Shoppee and Lazada would be forced to reveal the suppliers details. Thanks for sharing bro. Plus most stuff that comes out of China is crap anyway. I buy my kids toys made in China and a few days later the wheels full off or the stickers/decals peel away. It only cost about 50 peso or 100 peso. Which is cheap but that's not the point.

Nearly all of the "different" sellers I found on Shopee and Lazada, for this specific product, have the exact same location listed, at least the same Barangay.
So I think it's quite possible that one person is behind nearly all of those accounts.
I would assume that Philips would have a strong case against anyone misusing their brand.

They're not just hurting the brands. They're hurting the platforms and its honest sellers, and of course, the buyers. Now that I can't trust the platforms, I'd rather pay more for a product I can inspect in a physical store than risk getting scammed.

I've reported countless fake products / scam sellers. Unfortunately, until now, I can't recall any of them being removed from the platforms.
I prefer the returns process of Lazada, since they usually send their courier to collect the item. Compared to Shopee, where they sometimes force you to arrange your own courier. That's an extra hassle, and it's even more hassle trying to claim back the cost of the courier.
Although I must admit that I've had times where my refund request didn't go well, because the agent decided to let the seller come up with their own resolution.

Yeah unfortunately it's getting harder and harder because of the number of scam sellers on these platforms.

What is great with Amazon shop, if they found out that the item you bought was reported fake, they automatically refunds your money without questions. They will just ask you to dispose the item for safety concern. These pretending stores should be reported in Lazada or Shoppee and should be taken down.

P1,000 is already a ripoff. You can buy that very same product for just 760 from other sellers. 😂 I've been shopping online for quite some time and I never buy any product bearing a famous brand but priced so cheaply. I have bought some bargain priced tools with unknown brands online and all of them are still working fine. Some leading brands do have online platform stores. I would suggest to first visit their official website and look for their social media accounts there. Companies would often advertise their products in their social media pages and some of them can be purchased through their store at online shopping platforms.

It's insane how many fake sellers in Lazada. Only Lazada has the information of the seller. I hope some kind of law can be passed for online shopping that can protect consumers. DTI can order Lazada to get the details of the seller and shut it down.

not sure if lazada or shopee is covered by DTI since it's on-line like Amazon
so I don't think you need to blame or demand anything from DTI for this, just be vigilant and do research before buying. Buying online is indeed cheap and convenient but there is always risks involved.
People tend to get income online for people lazy not researching about the item and it's legitimacy. LOL

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  3 місяці тому +1

They are definitely covered by DTI. Being an online platform doesn't affect that.
Personally I don't think the blame should be shifted to consumers. That's a slippery slope thag empowers scammers.
Both platforms have been flooded with fake products and scam sellers. It seems the scammers are always five steps ahead of the platforms.
I understand it's challenging, but I literally just watched a scam seller create a new product and within one week they've fudged the numbers to make it look like they've sold ~4000 units and have created dozens of fake 5 star reviews. On an account that's pretending to be a major brand, which has even been tagged by the platform as a top seller.
That's so many red flags without any action. Something doesn't seem right.
Both of these platforms constantly throw ads in people's faces about how much they can save during special sale events, flash sales etc. So of course people have come to believe that big discounts are possible.

It's very suspicious. My wife had it on the Shopee cart and I went to inspect this product. Red flags are... It's Phillips brand but not on the "Mall" tag. Most reviews sounded or felt like bots (they are becoming harder to spot, I believe they may have been starting to use AI to make fake reviews). Well known brand products are typically priced higher. This seller use deceiving tactics like putting "Mall" label to the product image.

Buy at your own risk when you're on the street dealing with a random person.
When a major online shopping platform allows someone to set their store name to a major brand, claim to be the official store and then gets a "top seller" label, it's a different story.
There are plenty of times that you can get legit products at massively reduced prices in a flash sale.
In this case, it's allegedly a fake store.

Can you not in your videos, tell people to always go in to the products homepage to see if they are even selling the product. As in this case go to Philips homepage to check if they have that specific product. If not it's most likely a fake. So make that a routine to compare any online sell products with the producers homepage. If you think it's a good ide, proclaim it in your videos. If it spread among your follower it could impact the market for fake products.

Unfortunately the review sections are flooded with questionable 5 star reviews. So even if you leave a 1 star review, it gets buried.
I say they're questionable reviews because you have multiple "different" people using the same images over and over again.
Although I guess it could help for those who sort by lowest star ratings first.

I don't think there's actually any cheating done here. Any logical person would know that 1000 pesos is too cheap to buy a genuine Philips vacuum. It would be just the right price for a fake Chinese knockoff.
