It's physics, Larry. You start with small steps because the yoke weight doesn't have forward inertia to help you. As the weight accelerates, you can take larger steps because the forward inertia of the weight will lessen the forces that would pull you off balance. Short steps to accelerate, longer steps as it speeds up.
Totally agree. I'm so happy the camera man / editor is doing nice calm camera work with no annoying music or edits. Just raw footage with necessary cuts
I'm just glad that Larry's editor doesn't use that semi-metal/techno/emo music that plagues so many lifting channels. I want to see lifting, and if I'm going to get music, it better be real metal or old-school hip-hop. But I prefer just raw training footage like we get here. Well done.
It would be cool to see larry lift some of the famous natural stones located all throughout iceland. If you haven’t seen it watch the third episode of strongland on netflix. It is about the history of icelandic strength and shows alot of the famous stones where the history of lifting them goes back 100s of years.
They have these stones all over Scotland, too. They also have a lot of history that goes with them. Luke and Tom Stoltman were in a video lifting a few of them.
@@GamersOnTheStorm yeah that might help him. he's getting faster bare footed but in shoes his confidence seems to be way down. Thor trains in his gear all the time.
Try standing in your runners stands when picking up the yoke. Because u stand pretty wide and when try to brinf your foot inwords you sway from left to right a lot in the beginning
Agreed! Larry's start looks very slow due to a wide starting stance, he lifts the weight up, then adjusts inward to set his feet for the walk. If he can start at his walking width and get used to just picking it up and going, he will be much faster off the start. Glad you said this RTProductions.

dude larry is the new arnold...hes constantly showing dedication.hes done it all all competitions.hes enjoyable to watch even if you arent in the whole gym scene
Now i am a lithuanian figure skater (ice dancer), been doing this all my life, became multiple national champion through out my career so far. The only thing that i have to lift is my partner off the ice. We don't have to do anything like you guys do (log lifts and etc). But this is one of the most entertaining and inspirational things i've seen in a long time. The dedication and mentality that you, Larry, have is what is going to take you to great lengths (and ask any pro skater about time and effort that goes into our sport, we know what that means). I wish you all the best in your future strong man competitions, i strongly believe you might become one of the greats like Thor and our legend, Zydrunas Savickas. Keep up the good work, stay strong and healthy!
If you look at how he lifts the frame during the yoke walk he starts with his legs pretty far apart (I think this is from how he has a relatively wide stance from the squat) and during the first couple of steps, which are the slowest, he gradually brings his legs together as for a normal walking position. This means that since the wider stance, you cover less distance forward with each step. Maybe a good idea would be to try to start the yoke with his legs closer together during the initial lift to get the frame of the ground. Just my thoughts as a nobody who lifts a couple of days a week to stay in shape, this is only ment as constructive critism! ^_^ Love the videos! Going for legs tomorow (PR incoming?!)
