Sorry for the late response. You can put it on your shoulder by crouching and then right clicking on the Capuchin monkey.

When's the nether episode? When you do it, Tame a lavaithan. They make exploring the nether easier, and can transport up to 4 entities at a time.
I'll do a more in depth nether episode later on when I have better gear and I will definitely get a lavaithan!
