@@PeterPee great video! Hey can I please ask: I recently ordered and received the White Sub Gen 3 (to pair with my Beam 2), and it’s Gloss white. Not Matte white. Does this mean it’s a Sub Gen 2 that they sent me?
@@PeterPee also… I don’t care about my neighbor, (just kidding.. I turned it up 70% volume and went outside near the property line and cannot hear anything hardly).. but the Sub Gen 3 DEFINITELY outclasses that poor little Beam 2… so I’m still in the return window and considering returning to Best Buy and upgrading to the Arc… thoughts??
We all know Peter is gonna review the heck out of the Mini and will share information not found elsewhere. Quality content as always, and all the best at your live video this Sunday!
I just got the Sub Mini and oh boy why didn't I get that way before!? It's one of the best investment I have done to my Sonos system. I have paired to two Play:1 and the music and bass from that system had put a great smile on my face when listening to music. The music just sounds so much better! And the bass is touching! Got damn, so much fun and joy to my ears. Will recommend everybody to get the Sub Mini to really take their Sonos system to the next level!
This review was a seller for the mini to my application. Well rounded, small size for a small room, tight response, expensive but still budget accessible to work with the beam gen 2. Super easy to setup with the existing beam g2. The mini greatly enhanced the experience for my applications. Almost to the mind blowing difference that really freed up the beams performance. A huge sell..... Thanks for the review
I just purchased an Arc and found the bass a little lite for both movies and music. Most reviews recommend only using the Gen 3 sub with the Arc, but being a very conscientious neighbor and somewhat frugal, I decided against adding a sub. Your review solved my dilemma with the Mini Sub. Thanks for a very thorough and understandable review.
I pinched the sub mini from my living room setup (beam plus one surrounds) for my cinema room setup (just replaced Panasonic sound bar + Panasonic sub with an Arc) temporarily until I get my Sub Gen 3 (just have to sneak the spend past the wife)- it's a fairly large room - around 5x7 meters with a cathedral roof - but the mini does an admirable job. Fortunately my neighbors are a fair way away so no issues there, so I will definitely go sub gen 3, but for now it's very enjoyable.
Just got my Sub Mini today to go with my Beam gen 2 and Ikea surrounds. It absolutely booms bass and I can feel it in my bones! Almost got a Sub gen 3 but this is more than enough. Tried with Armageddon, Transformers and Matrix movies. Music improved dramatically too. God Tier!
@@jedlomax100 Defo. I've gone from a large wired higher end solution to a more simple wireless one and I love it. The only downside is I keep thinking someone is at the door with the surrounds ;)
Dear Peter, thank you for your advice. I have replaced my YAMAHA RX-V657 AV Receiver - Surround 7.1 with small KEF KHT 1005 speakers for the SONOS ARC - 2x ERA 300 and bought, after 2 weeks, the SUB-mini. (Had to convince my wife LOL) I can only confirm your observation and technical analysis. The SUB-mini fits perfectly and provides the good base sound balance which suits the size of my living room. Greetings from Belgium.
Thank you so much for this video! Would love to see how Sonos Arc, Sun Mini and the IKEA Lamp Speakers all go together but so happy found your channel!

Looks fantastic. Sonos really has a grip on this area of audio. I just wish they would invest a bit more into refining sound quality. These things leave me feeling “cold” with shrill sound. Anyway, as usual, Peter’s reviews are second to none!
You are the best Sonos reviewer out there so much good information your channel is extremely valuable. Thank you so much and you have a great way of speaking to make everybody understand.
Hi Peter! Well done, great review. I bought both the Sub Gen 3 and the Mini, deciding to keep the Gen 3 because it is more performing for watching movies, with more present and thunderous bass. So I returned the Sub Mini. The sub is in a surround system together with Beam 2 and 2 One SL, all in a 25 square meters room. In daily listening I realize that, perhaps due to the small environment, the Gen 3 is very invasive, not so much for watching movies, but especially for listening to music, where sometimes it is almost too present and leads me to lower it by a couple of points. Now I'm thinking of buying a Sub Mini again to retest it properly because it makes no sense to have so much power if I then have to lower it, better than to increase the smoother bass of a Mini, also considering the physical dimensions and the better aesthetics of the smaller sub.
Never seen your videos in my feed before, but in looking for more in-depth reviews for the sub mini your video cames up and I'm really glad I oped it!! Great stuff.
Just got the sub mini and paired with my beam gen 2 and 2 SL Ones's. My room is 12.6 by 20.6 ft. Trying to explain the quality of sound is a little difficult. The bass doesn't take over it just becomes immersive and blends seamlessly with the rest of the speakers to give a sound quality that is truly remarkable. If you want a bass that's going to shake and rattle the walls this is not what you need, get the sub gen 3. But if it's quality sound for movies and music that is just right this is the speaker for you. Many said adding the sub mini makes the beam gen 2 sound even better as it is not trying to put out bass and just worries with the mid-range and highs and they are spot on. This is one of the best purchases I have made to complete the sound with my sonos system.
Yes. What you are describing is like perfect bass/sub integration. Sealed subs are a little easier to integrate. And when well integrated you will find yourself wondering how come all the bass is coming out from the sound bar or speakers. You won’t be able to localised where the sub is.
For anyone else out there that is spending time debating over this Sub like I did this past week. I can assure you Peters assessment is bang on. This thing is surprising in its precision, clarity and power. The comparison of surface area to an 8inch sub is a bit of a dis-service. It most certainly does not sound like an 8 inch HTIB (Home Theatre In a Box) sub, it fills much more air than that. You can ignore the reviewers if you want, and just look to the comments sections. People are pretty unanimously surprised at what this sounds like. Are you going to be able to chase down all the crazy LFE hidden away in some movies ? No, For that you need a bigger sub, and different gear not a Sonos set-up. Do you want to bring your friends to your house and crank it up and shake everyone's pantaloons ? Not the one for you either. This thing will pound a modest sized room that has some walls to support it and sound really good doing it. EDIT: one final note. I previously had a big "traditional" system with two front firing 12" subs. I loved to just watch crazy sections in movies and shake and feel everything, it use to really "tickle my tummy". I moved on as other priorities entered my life. I recently got the Sonos Arc, and was really skeptical when I bought the sub mini (It was the budget factor) Took me two days to even open the box...... After I set everything up, ran true play, I was legit blown away, smile came over my face. Not just the "slam" factor, it was more what it sounds like. It just blends in and sounds so great. In my previous system, I couldn't get the channels integrated this well. It sounds that good.
Hands down one of the best Sub mini/ sub gen 3 reviews out there for pairing with the Arc! Thanks for helping me with all the questions and thoughts I had on whether to go with the sub mini or not! I'm in a small apartment and listen 50% music, 50% movies, and you made it easier to decide. I've just purchased the sub-mini and can't wait to hear it in my own environment. Thank you!
This is really helpful. I have a playbar at the moment but a speaker has blown so I’ve purchased the arc. Unfortunately I’m wait to get into a new property so can’t set it up yet but the fact that you have done this comparison has definitely made me sway more to the sub mini. Really helpful thanks
Thank you Peter! I am already convinced! I have the Arc and was worried they would not go well together but this has reassured me! I am the 50/50 category :D Thanks again!
Go for it! The recording was done with an arc! Yes UA-cam compresses it and so many recording factors that will deteriorate the sound but you get a good idea of how it sounds relative to each other. And also, the spectrum analyser should give you a good visual indication!
It depends on the room size. If you can spare the cash and the space for the bigger sub the gen 3 is definitely more powerful. Unless you are placing it in a small to average size room.
This is something I have been wanting for a while, I am so glad I did not get another Sonos sub. We have multiple Sonos devices and only one sub in the living room. I have wanted another for the bedroom. I even moved our Sonos sub there for a while, but it did not work out well. Too loud if my wife fell asleep, and too pricey to only be used sometimes. My wife also is not thrilled with the size and finish. This seems to check off all the boxes.
I really appreciated this review of yours. I Bought Sub Gen 3 2 years ago and returned it a week later because it simply outputs too much bass for my liking. Your recommendation makes a lot sense to me to go for the Sub mini. I'll visit Best Buy and get one for my home theatre today.
Peter....You just get better and better. I fall in the group that likes the amount of bass my Gen3 produces. I'm looking forward to adding a second Gen 3 to fill my open-concept room evenly. 🤞
Best of your videos to date. Lots of info and I was undecided about getting a sub. Thought about sub gen 3 but it may be to much for how I’m set up. So I waited for the mini but didn’t want a lackluster sub. I have now decided based on your video to buy the Mini. I believe it will be perfect for my system. Thank you
Already pre-ordered! Can’t wait. I read on another article that said it’s better for movies than music which is good news to me but contradictory to other things I’ve heard about sealed subs.
Nice! I think better or not it’s subjective too. In general sealed subs are better for music. I have also been trying it out in a Sonos play:1 stereo setup and amp paired with Yamaha ceiling speakers and amp paired with NAD 8020 speakers for music. Your experience may vary from mine.
Just found your review on release day having never heard of this new Sub! This is what I was waiting for and I have one here now. It’s perfect for my setup with a Beam and 2 One SLs Excellent video, thanks! Subscribed 👍🏼
In your subwoofer demo part with the graphs, is it correctly understood that the Sub Gen3 maintains a wider range of low frequency and can output these low frequencies at higher dB? So basically even a low volume Sub Gen3 will still output and maintain more of the low ranges than the mini, where with the Mini the low ranges will be lost?
Great review. As an owner of a Sub Gen 2, I must say I am tempted to downgrade to Mini. But, there are two reasons not to. Firstly, I would be able to sell my Sub Gen 2 for less than 350 dollars and would have to add money to buy somewhat a less powerfull Sub. Second, and I think others will agree, Sonos soundbars are not really for music. I use my Sonos in ratio 80% to 20% in favour of movies, TV and TV shows. All of my music is done by surrounds (play 3's) which with Sub gen 2 sound really good. So, switching to Mini would mean less powerfull home theater and slightly better balanced music. I think I should save my money for the switch from Playbar to Arc. But Mini does looks really cool.
Sorry to hijack your comment but just wanted to ask.. you said for music play back is just done by your surrounds, is that the surrounds that are part of your soundbar/sub/surround setup? And if so, can you help me understand how I could do that? Thanks!
@@PeterPee I would only be happy If I could somewhat replace the Playbar and Sub Gen2 with Beam Gen2 and Sub Mini bet in a way I am left over with funds to buy a single Five or a pair of One's. But, i doubt I could get it.
@@lankywardy I'll be glad to. All my Sonos (Playbar, Sub Gen 2 and a pair of Play 3's) are in the same group called Family room, so only one source can be played at a a time. The surrounds are directly behind my seating area, 2,5 metres apart and the Sub is in between them. I basically like background music while playing with the kids but every one in a while I do want some critical listening. I simply go into my Sonos app settings/System/Family Room/Surround Audio. I'll check if my Music Playback is Full and I drag the Music level slider to +15. That really 'mutes' the Playbar and I get stereo Play 3's with the Sub. My only gripe is I have to turn around to face stereo setup properly.
Peter!! I was so waiting for this video. You just nailed it. I always gets amazed the way you answer all the questions come to my mind. Ok so I am the user with 2 Play ones as surround and Sonos ARC and was waiting for you to give verdict on sub mini. I am all hands down going for sub mini. Thanks for your recommendation+the RGY response chart and finally my 50-50 usage of music+movies. Truly appreciate your time however needless to say I will surely wait for youe Arc+sub mini combination video. Have a great day!!
I probably covered the important Arc + Sub content in this video but I will want to do one with the trueplay sorted and the surrounds added. I am waiting to get enough funds to buy the stuff now that Sonos has taken back the review units. :)
Man I love your videos. As a novice you just taught me that getting a sub (potential this sub) will actually improve the sound coming out of my other sonos speakers.
Amazing video! I got a gen 2 beam and 2 ones as surrounds. I'm debating between the mini and the gen 3 sub. I live in a condo and the size of my living room is 18x10 feet. I only have neighbors on one side and thats not the side my TV is on. Which would should I pick up? Im able to either by the mini from sonos with a 15% discount, or I can buy the gen 3 from a reseller for $540. Thanks Peter!
The Sub Gen 3 sounds like a good deal at $540 so I think you should really get that. It is definitely going to fulfil all your needs for bass. I am also suggesting this because I am assuming you are more into TV and movie content. If you are heavier into music then the Sub mini will be fine for the room size too. But at the price you can get the Sub Gen 3, that's what I am leaning to.
Bought it after watching your video. Solid buy, yes. Absolutely. Living room of 20x20ft, paired to a Beam2, there's more than ample bass to go around and my equalizer is only set to+3. Mini? What mini? The bass "boom" is felt at all rooms in the house... and also by my neighbours. I have to turn on night mode after 11pm.
Glad you enjoyed it! I wonder if they already had the Sub mini planned 2 years ago when they released the sub gen 3. They probably decided to launch the Gen 3 first else no one wants to get the bigger sub. :)
Dear Peter, thanks for all your reviews. Perhaps I should watch this video a few more times, because there is a lot of information you have analyzed and presented here. Basically I prefer to listen to music. I have a fairly expensive ProAc Response based Hi-Fi stereo system, but I don't listen to it all the time because I have to sit down, select music, turn everything on (and put your phone away) and then enjoy. It takes time and mood, which I don't always have. That's why I listen to Sonos all day and night. Let me describe my Sonos configuration. I have an Arc + 2 Sonos One for the movie in the sittng room. And 2 Fives + Sub Gen 3 for music in another room. I use 2 Fives with Sub Gen 3 and I'm happy with the everyday music and almost happy with the bass, it is deep, powerfool but it's not very dynamic. I also feel that Arc lacks bass a bit when I watch movies. What should I do? Buy Sub Mini and connect with Arc? Or connect Arc with Gen 3, and Fives with Sub Mini? My head is exploding with options. Thank you in advance for your opinion.
maybe maybe. What are your preferences and considerations? I plan to try a closed subwoofer design. I think this bass should be more precise, but less powerful. It will be easier for the neighbors))
@@vladislavgaitukaev3919 my living room is 18ft 11 width ( ) and 13ft 6 length. I love blasting music and watching movies but sadly i live in an apartment building so i can not always be blasting music as my neighbors are sensitive to noise 🙄. i wish i lived next to neighbors that are just as noisy as me.
@@vladislavgaitukaev3919 yea one day i will own my house and make the best sound system with sound proof walls. But sadly i live in NYC where the houses that are aforable which is around $700,000 suck and aren’t so big. i want to move to a different state and get a bigger house for less.
My finding is leading me to keep the Sub though I have it in a rather small room for music listening. I have a small room of 11' x 13' with a 8' ceiling. I normally run a Sub. Tested the Sub Mini by switching back and forth about 7 times. I also swaped positions to make sure that all the room notes etc are identical. I WANTED to hear more resolution from the Mini due to its sealed design. Also, both are rated to 25hz and I figured that for a room as small as mine, I would get the same visceral impact as the larger sub. I would love to get that bit of floor space back. HOWEVER, I did not find that at all. Everyime I thought that the Mini had better resolution, I'll switch the Sub back and heard the same resolution. The KEY difference though is that the Sub simply had a lot more impact. Thicker, deeper, more present. A lot more visceral. It was a lot more enjoyable. This is unfortunate. So the Sub Mini is going back to Sonos. Added note: I went on youtube and ran some 'subwoofer tests' - and the difference is even clearer with these exaggerated tests. The Mini clearly add significant bass, but nothing like the Sub even in a small room.
Hey thanks for sharing that. I agree with you. At the same settings, in a side by side A-B comparison testing, the larger sub is always going to perform better. There is no fighting the physics of it. You will get the sub mini to perform at the same levels if you push a +5 to +8 to match it. But if you need to push it to a +8, you really need the sub gen 3 either because of your room size or your preference.
@@PeterPee Actually, I bumped up the MINI to maximum in the sub setting, and the regular Sub to about 15% up on that scale. I think the SUB actually reaches down lower - or has a lot more quantity on the lowest registers. But my greatest surprise is that I did not hear a lot more resolution with that sealed Mini as I expected. This is all for music listening. I just watched an hour of film yesterday with deep bass and it just is not the same - even in my small bedroom sized area. For me, I'll call it 'polite' - you know the sub is there, but politely behaving so as not to be overly intrusive. THe regular sub however, can be quite intrusive if you set it 50% higher than the middle setting. And sometimes with a sub and movies, you just want that intrusiveness to FEEL the rumble.
I got the Sub mini to add to my Beam Gen 1 and two Symfonisk bookshelf surround speakers to LG OLED 55C9 in master bedroom. I already had a Gen 3 sub+Gen 1 Beam+2 One SLs in my office and liked the improvement the sub added to the sound quality and extra bass. I just couldn't get the sub mini to stay connected to my system for more than a few minutes. I've tried multiple times troubleshooting in the app, wired/wifi connections, running app diagnostics, and calling Sonos tech support for help. It would work for a little bit and then show "not connected" in the app a few minutes later. Ended up sending the sub mini back after a few days of getting nowhere with it. First time having an issue connecting any Sonos product I have (two Beam Gen 1, One Arc, three Gen 3 Subs, four Symfonisk bookshelf, two Fives, two One SL, two Roams).
@@PeterPee I figured it out. I thought it was an issue with the sub mini; but, I had the same issue when I replaced with a Gen 3 sub. Did the old Google search on Sonos connection issues and it was the Sonos sub being too close to my wireless router causing the issue. Not sure why the Beam Gen 1 can sit 12 inches away wireless from the router without issues; but, the Sonos sub being 2-3 feet away from the Beam would disconnect? Moved the sub 16 feet away near the rear of the room and it has stayed connected.
Thnx for putting the graphs side by side for I for one hate going back and forth between the two. Excellent review 👌🏼 Very informative Is it just a sub is it like an all in one solution? Wifi only? No BT? If so which version. Th Mx again :D
Hmmm... I am actually not very sure about that. I think there is a workaround. I have been pairing it with NFC so I didn't explore how to if I don't use it. But I will let you know the next time I reset the sub so that I will try that out.
@@PeterPee Thank You. That would be great if there's a workaround. I simply cant spend in insane amount on repair bill for my iPhone. They can't just "swap out" the NFC sensor. So whether or not I will buy a Sub this year depends on whether it needs the NFC just to install it. I personally find it silly to add an extra step to pair with NFC. I didn't need to when I bought my ARC
Great review, I'm using a Samsung q600b with 9200s rears, and feel the bass sounds smoother thru Bluetooth, for music, but eArc sounds better for movies, albeit a bit more harsh than Bluetooth. But the air movement is more noticeable than with BT.
Black Friday sale sub mini 499 vs sub gen 3, 679 is it worth to go with gen3 for 178 extra or stick to mini? im planning to get 2 of one sl and beam gen2 with sub, i dont have tv will be using it on my macbook and iphone for music and netflix
I have an ARC and some Ones for rear in my basement with a 77 OLED. Everything sounds good already, but thinking about adding a sub. Just unsure if I should go mini or gen3. Wifey is not a fan of loud booming audio so I never really play loud, but could use some oomph for movies at normal volume. Thinking the mini would be good enough
Got a sub mini with a gen2 beam, ones at rear, eq base setting 4 and treble 5, sub output plus 6 and it sounds awesome I love it, great video peter your the man
Hi I have an arc paired with 2 era 300’s in a small to medium room would the sub mini be a better choice and would it add to movie emersion…I don’t really need over the top base..thanks
Great video Peter! Always a great and detailed review! Thank you for sharing! What do you think if you use the sub mini in a large room? 40m2 with high ceilings?
That's a pretty big space... I am going to recommend you go for the Sub gen 3. Or Sub Gen 2. I am imagining a space of 5m x 8m with 3+M ceiling height... It's too much air for the Sub Mini to pressurise.
My beam gen 2 + 2x ikea lamp family was waiting for another sibling. Could you make a review how it pairs with the beam? I think I will wait till sub+trueplay issue will be fixed.
Great review thanks. I have what may seem like a silly question but here goes………I intend to buy the sub mini soon, but unfortunately my layout means that my tv is in the corner of a square room, so my sub will be in one of those corners also. Would you face the open slot so that as you look through it you can see the corner, or would you have the slot so that each side faces a wall? I am thinking that this could make a big difference to the sound, and just wondered what your thoughts were? (If this makes sense lol).
Hi, great review. At what volume level are you testing frequency response with Arc? I wonder if it falls of with higher volume - my guess would be around 60%.
Hi Peter! I have two Fives on stands in my office in the middle of my home. I just listen to music. Mostly indie and rock. Wondering if you think the sub mini would add some more depth to the bottom. I feel like I have to turn the speakers up pretty high to feel the bass. I’m already at +9 bass and +5 treble in the EQ, but it just doesn’t feel full enough near the bottom (with and without Trueplay.) Thanks!!!
Oh, that's cos they are in the middle of the room. If you need more bass, you should move the speakers closer to the rear wall. If you need more omph in the base department in your case, I suspect you will need the Sub Gen 3. If you can wait, I will be doing that test some time down the road.
Hi Peter, thanks for the great review, I was awaiting for your review before committing and now I'm convinced, thanks to u! Do you have a coupon code to sweeten the deal? For Singapore usage.
Yes I do! I will be releasing it in the live stream on Sunday 10am! Wait for that! It's not a large amount but probably the best I can negotiate for you guys.
Hi Peter. Excellent video. A quick question. I use a Playbase and 2 x SL surrounds in my medium sized front room, to listen to a mix of music / TV & Films. Would the Mini Sub compliment that well, or do think or do i have to go to the Gen 3 Sub to really feel a difference, do you think? Thanks. Ali.
Thanks you for this interesting vidéo .i already have a beam gen 2 in my living room ,and just added a pair of One sl for more surrounding effects .i think i m now going to buy this sub mini that looks so fabulous .Do you think it s possible to add one more pair of SL with the sonos system in a same room .?
I have two room. One with a Beam and one with an Arc. I have a Sub Gen 1 on the Arc. Would the Mini be better paired with the Bream, or could it oust the gen 1 Sub from the Arc?
Hello, thank you for great work. Is it possible to place the Sub Gen. 3 under the sofa (1cm above) or does that limit the bass too much. Alternatively, would it be better to place a Sub-Mini right next to the TV, or would the Sub Gen. 3 under the sofa still be more effective?
I felt like I kept the volume on most old Sonos products very low. Especially the rear speakers. Even Ikea bookshelf as rear speakers are probably overkill for me as I can’t have my couch far away from the wall. Sonos was over kill for me so I’m glad they have added smaller, cheaper units. I’ll move in to an apartment again soon. I am worried about neighbours as I stay up quite late. I hope the beam 2 + Sub mini + 2 ikea bookshelf will sound good. The Sony HT-A9 would just look so much better though.
I have to agree on the HT-A9... Looks are killer. If you are considering the beam gen 2 + sub mini with surrounds, I think that is the killer combination from Sonos right now.
@@PeterPee Did I understand correctly that we don't have to worry for our neighbours with Sonos Sub Mini (living in a flat as well) ? Thanks for the great review by the way !
Peter: I think you may have mentioned this in a prior review; however, am I correct that the new Sub Mini cannot be paired to an existing Sub Gen 3 (or 2 or 1 for that matter)? I would likely add a Sub Mini to my existing system (arc, two SL1s, & a single Sub Gen 3) to round out my bass if that would be possible. If it is not possible now, do anticipate that Sonos will upgrade the Mini to allow for such combination? As always, thanks for all you do for us!
Hey @Peter Pee, will like to ask you, if worried about disturbing neighbors/babies , and I dont really on my volume loud(Mostly 50-60%), does pairing the sub mini with Arc make economical sense? Assuming $ isn't a problem too, but taking in value for money wise.
@@PeterPee Assuming in a HDB 5Rm, square layout living room, but open concept kitchen. The only things that stop me from the sub gen3 is disturbing the neighbors which live nextdoor (one wall separated from the TV console there). Mini is sufficient at 50-60%?

One of the most detailed guys in UA-cam. It always boggles me why he doesn't have more subscribers
Boggles? Good term. I would go with Bamboozled. Lol
God Tier!
GOD TIER indeed! I really loved that guy if your space doesn't need more.
I am thinking of this exact setup. My room is quite small. So you'd recommend?
Considering same setup as yours

Thank you so much for this video! Would love to see how Sonos Arc, Sun Mini and the IKEA Lamp Speakers all go together but so happy found your channel!
A discount code for Singapore will be provided during my live stream at 10am on Sunday 2nd Oct here -> ua-cam.com/video/YCPiUkpNuRk/v-deo.html
If you wait, you might get a discount for whatever you want to buy from Sonos!
Outstanding work! This video was so comprehensive and so well thought out covering so many setups. You are fantastic at what you do!
Thanks for your compliments!
Looks fantastic. Sonos really has a grip on this area of audio. I just wish they would invest a bit more into refining sound quality. These things leave me feeling “cold” with shrill sound. Anyway, as usual, Peter’s reviews are second to none!
Thanks for your kind support there!
They sound great on cafes I guess :)
@@RennieAsh “sound great on cafes”??……What is your point?
You are the best Sonos reviewer out there so much good information your channel is extremely valuable. Thank you so much and you have a great way of speaking to make everybody understand.
Thanks for this Stephen!
Thank you for your compliment!
Amazing video! I almost never comment but this was a super helpful video and love your technical knowledge. Learned many new things.
Your videos are very helpful. The most helpful I can find on YT considering Sonos, thanks a lot
Peter you are the best reviewer of Sonos products & the frequency response curves really nails it & removes most of the subjectivity.
This is one of the best product reviews I've ever seen. Thank you!
Thank you Jim!
Thank you!
With music, you will feel that it is better. :)
What’s your experience and opinion on the arc + sub mini combo?
Excellent review love your reviews .Well informed and actually learned more about sub woofers than I expected.
Glad I could help!
Wow super excited for future videos!! I have a Beam Gen 1 and really want this sub so I can't wait to see how that would sound!
I plan to make that video next!
You do the best reviews! Just ordered my Sub Mini based on your positive feedback. You are awesome!!!
Hope you enjoy it! I have been really enjoying mine!
Peter, thank you for your review! I have ordered the Gen 3 a week ago.. Now i might reconsider my decision..
Put a pair of earrings on top. She’ll love it.
I really appreciated this review of yours. I Bought Sub Gen 3 2 years ago and returned it a week later because it simply outputs too much bass for my liking. Your recommendation makes a lot sense to me to go for the Sub mini. I'll visit Best Buy and get one for my home theatre today.
Oh yes, if the Sub Gen 3 is too much for your room setup then the Sub mini comes in perfectly.
@@PeterPee got it already, works perfectly for me😁
Peter....You just get better and better.
I fall in the group that likes the amount of bass my Gen3 produces. I'm looking forward to adding a second Gen 3 to fill my open-concept room evenly. 🤞
Aiyoh, I am so flattered. Thank you!
Thank you
Fantastic! I am glad that I was able to help!
Your experience may vary from mine.
does adding a sub to the Sonos ARC noticeably improve the mids and highs on the ARC by allowing them to work less and cleaner????
I appreciate the BASS, and your sense of humor. Subbed.
You have the BEST reviews!! Everyone should watch you!
Thanks Jeff!
Just found your review on release day having never heard of this new Sub! This is what I was waiting for and I have one here now. It’s perfect for my setup with a Beam and 2 One SLs
Excellent video, thanks!
Subscribed 👍🏼
Thanks for being here! I’m sure you’re enjoying it a ton! I have been relistening to so much of my music and rewatching movies.
Köszönjük!
Woah! Thanks a lot there!
I second your line of thoughts. Good analysis. The sub mini will not be as powerful as the sub gen 2.
@@nevenmiskulin Absolute legend mate, thanks for confirming!
Great review - very detailed. I’ve pre ordered for my Arc.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it! Actually I know you will.
Looking forward to receiving mine! Thanks for the review!
You’re welcome and I’m excited for you! 1 more week!
Man I love your videos. As a novice you just taught me that getting a sub (potential this sub) will actually improve the sound coming out of my other sonos speakers.
Great! Happy to have shared something useful!
If you look at the video I am launching later, you will notice how much of an improvement adding a sub can bring to the other speakers!
You reassured me and I'm going to get one. They're on sale at the moment here in the U.S.
Peter Pee, thank you for your video it is very informative and has reasured me about my pre-order of the Sub Mini. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jon! You'll love it!
Good Video as always, thanks Peter.
Demonstrates the law of diminishing returns brilliantly!
Thank you in advance for your opinion.
im in the same boat as you man. This sub mini looks nice and i also have an arc + 2 SL one speakers
maybe maybe. What are your preferences and considerations? I plan to try a closed subwoofer design. I think this bass should be more precise, but less powerful. It will be easier for the neighbors))
@@vladislavgaitukaev3919 my living room is 18ft 11 width ( ) and 13ft 6 length. Big thank you, Peter. Nice review and it was comprehensive!!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Peter, your video was really helpful. Because of it I bought the sub mini along with my arc. And so far I am quite satisfied with the sound. 💥💥💥
Great to hear!
Hmmm.. that's strange. I have two sub minis and both are stable with their connection.
Awesome video! I can’t wait to get one!
I think you’ll be pleased with yourself for getting it! After all, it’s Christmas. Around there la.
Thnx for putting the graphs side by side for I for one hate going back and forth between the two.
Excellent review 👌🏼
Very informative
Is it just a sub is it like an all in one solution?
Wifi only? No BT? If so which version. Th Mx again :D
This is just for the sub. For Sonos you will need either a soundbar or speaker (except the portable ones)
My bass needs to be tight! Awesome review, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work mate!
Can it make a ceiling shake or vibrate a bit, can u actually feel it.
Compare the mini with JBL 2.1, which 1 is powerful.
Is it normal to run the sub level of the sub mini in the sonos app at about +8 or so for movies and music?
My iPhone's NFC stopped working after the latest update. Will I still be able to install the Sub Mini WITHOUT using NFC ? ? ?
This is a superb review. I am super impressed. Great job!
Thanks Sabrina!
Fantastic video!
Thank you for the incredible detail.
Thanks for the help. I have arc already. So finger crossed. Let’s preorder
Fingers crossed! You won't be disappointed!

Remains to fix the possibility to pile the subs Mini to achieve a total experience ! Thanks for this wonderfull project and study.
Yeah. You can hack it today even if it’s not supported natively. But let me play around with they first.
Great video brother. Thank you for this!!!!!
My pleasure!
The sub mini is asking you to bring him home!
Any good wall mounts for the fives (white)?? Don’t want to spend on Flexson ones. 5s are a splurge already!!
YOU ARE SPOT ON! How the heck did you guess that?! I was testing at 60.
Hi Peter! I have two Fives on stands in my office in the middle of my home. I just listen to music. Mostly indie and rock. Wondering if you think the sub mini would add some more depth to the bottom. I feel like I have to turn the speakers up pretty high to feel the bass. I’m already at +9 bass and +5 treble in the EQ, but it just doesn’t feel full enough near the bottom (with and without Trueplay.)
Thanks!!!
Oh, that's cos they are in the middle of the room. If you need more bass, you should move the speakers closer to the rear wall. If you need more omph in the base department in your case, I suspect you will need the Sub Gen 3. If you can wait, I will be doing that test some time down the road.
@@PeterPee Thank you!!

Please help!!! Would you pair the sub mini with 2 sonos fives???? Thank you and hi from Mexico. Awesome work!!!
Thanks. Ali.
Great review man. That’s my only concern I’m living in a 12 unit apartment complex. Currently have a sonos arc.
Assuming you are living in the middle, you are at most pissing 4 others off. :D
Keep the Sub G1 with the Arc and Sub Mini for the Beam. :)
great video. very detailed and great quality in content.
Much appreciated and thanks for showing it!
Sorry, I read the other comments meanwhile ;)
I was desperately waiting for this review
I was desperately waiting to release it!
Cannot pair sub mini in dual sub config. It might be years before they allow that...
Preorder in and ready for the arrival next weekend. Should be a fun weekend crank up the movies and tunes. 👍👍
I had sleepless nights since....
Hey @Peter Pee, will like to ask you, if worried about disturbing neighbors/babies , and I dont really on my volume loud(Mostly 50-60%), does pairing the sub mini with Arc make economical sense? Assuming $ isn't a problem too, but taking in value for money wise.
Yes, at 50-60% volume, the Sub mini really kicks in. But hey, 50-60% on a sonos system is LOUD!
@@PeterPee Assuming in a HDB 5Rm, square layout living room, but open concept kitchen. The only things that stop me from the sub gen3 is disturbing the neighbors which live nextdoor (one wall separated from the TV console there). Mini is sufficient at 50-60%?
