- Throwing /Making a couple of very easy basic shaped plant pots / flower pots on the wheel.
This shape is easy to make as it's just a simple flared out shape.
Only needs one lift and a final bit of shaping of the clay.

I love these pottery videos.
Very nice Dan. Thanks for sharing your skill.
Love your Vids! Please keep them coming!
this is how most of my pots turn out lol. I just like the shape.. versitile
easy for you baby, i have just started a course 3weeks in , i used your beginners vid and others for inspiration. i can centre and made a really good bowl. your beginners vid (in a yorkshire accent )really helped me even though you are a left hander. love the vids.
How long would it take a total beginner to attain the skill to make a pot like that Dan?
well ive been doing for a year and I have my first art show tommorow and im the youngest potter there at the age of 13 but pottery really takes alot of commitment and grit but on avarage it takes about 3 years.
It took me almost 3 months to even learn to centre the clay properly, and then another 6 months to make anything remotely saleable.
It's a real practice makes perfect job, you spend ages not being able to do anything and then like magic it just seems to click one day.
So don't expect to be able to do it quickly as it's such an odd "brain, finger," technique it can take a while.
So , really I can't say, It depends on how much you practice and how good your teacher is.
Got your Japanese seeds by the way, Cheers, Dan.
Dan,
I've recently subscribed to your channel and I am just in love with the art you make! I started throwing last semester at school (maybe 6 months ago) and your videos have really inspired some of my work for this semester! I especially love your bird feeders and flower bowls. I was at your website a few days ago and I didn't see any way to buy your pots online. I live in the United States and it would be wonderful if I could buy some! I'm not sure if I could ever get one but just wanted to say that they're beautiful! Also, do you fire your pots with the cobalt slip in oxidation? Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Dan. You usually glaze as you go. With the planters, the glaze looks different. How have you done this? Cheers
