    As a maintenance person at a factory in the states I would enjoy more content of actual project work. The shop, welding, installation, etc.

      I have done some of that especially in the past but the problem is you can't just a walk around while you're working with a camera.

    Question: I know all ships are similiar and yet they have differences too. How do you know what maintenance to perform? When you get onboard do you report to an officer who assigns you the work to do?

    • @JeffOnboard
      @JeffOnboard  7 місяців тому +1

      There are many things that we just do everyday on ships No matter what ship you are on, but maintenance you just do as per needed and a lot of things get done based on operating hours. The first engineer will assign jobs to everyone in the engine department.

    Good question; even if traveling a non threatening route, do you still practice for hijackings? If not, why?

    • @JeffOnboard

      All topics are talked about during training drills, but ships that go to high risk areas train extra for it...

    Thanks for the videos and what you can show. I have heard that on some cargo ships passengers are permitted? Any truth to this if you know? Appreciate the tour.

    • @JeffOnboard
      @JeffOnboard  6 місяців тому +1

      None of the ones I work on in USA carry passengers but I have seen videos where people go on container ships as passengers and they were foreign Flag ships I think you can check online but I don't think there are a lot of ships like that. Actually it would be awesome if they had more ships like that but I'm sure it is an insurance and liability issue.

    whats the best platform to sail on? which one gets the most port visits?
    .

    • @JeffOnboard
      @JeffOnboard  6 місяців тому

      To me it seems like the ship's the go to the most different ports are normally the tramping ships but they are not usually the best contracts. If you go MSC ships I don't know where they go they might go to completely different ports.
