I didn t really.appreciate how good he was but he was out there on his own. Every perforance was perfect. He also had way of standing that drew you to him. Such a shame. He was so shy but you'd never know from his performance. Saw him at Birmingham Hippodrome with Geogie Fame, Joe Brown (l think) and a few others. He worked and toured far too much for a person with a damaged heart. He said he had no kids as he thought he was going to "pop off early". He d have been a great dad x

I went to see Marty Wilde, I think in Margate. Billy was a supporting act. We had never heard of him but I was in love before the show ended. The crowd were just yelling for him. Must have been hard for Marty. I couldn't go to school the next day as had lost my voice through screaming. Like my husband who had rheumatic fever as a child, he died in his forties. Apparently it can damage the heart. What a talent, and gorgeous.
Billy's Mum was 96 when she passed away. His brother Albie died of the same condition that Billy had. Jean (Billys Mum) lost both sons before she died 😢 Billy will always be close to my heart,even though it's forty years since he passed away,I still feel the same today,as I did on 28th January 1983 when he died!! RIP My darling Billy you are sorely missed 💔💔🎶🎵🎼🎤🎸🪽🌹🙏
Billy didn't have any heart attacks ever!! He had Rheumatic Fever as a child and Rheumatism, which led to him developing a heart condition. He had open heart surgery twice.
"The Sound Of Fury" still remains the best British rock album, pre-Beatles. It matches Gene, Eddie, and early Elvis for sheer abandon, it really is that good. Billy was a class act. "I Will" and "Wonderous Place" are timeless classics.

Towards the end of his career, he was booked to play a local rugby club, he was a no show, the club & those of us who had bought tickets were angry, next day we all said we were sad that we hadn't got to see him, my friends Mum, said i did, she worked in the chip shop near the club, said Billy had come in, ordered fish & chips, ate them off the counter, whilst chatting to staff.

I think Billy's farm was in Capel west sussex and would come to Horsham shopping with his wife on saturday morning on the bus as he was not allowed to drive because of his condishion he always wore a cowboy hat all the shop girls went crazy

aw I used to like BF a lot, even now I still sing some of his songs. My dad uses to say he looks ill but I never noticed it, I had a German Shepherd dog I named Fury. He was a good looking guy, he has/had a brother who looked a lot like him too. I never knew he did a couple of films, music changed after the Beatles not sure if Billy could have changed with it, didn't seem his style.
He did an interview with Michael Parkinson and talked a lot about ornithology, and he had a bird sanctuary at his farm , this wonderful man will always be remembered and sadly missed, rip 🪦 Billy 😊xx

I find his songs timeless. I have the c d the best of Billy Fury and play it often never tire of listening to it. He did a good version of the Bobby Rydell song Forget Him.

I used to like BF a lot, even now I still sing some of his songs. My dad uses to say he looks ill but I never noticed it, I had a German Shepherd dog I named Fury. He was a good looking guy, he has/had a brother who looked a lot like him too. I never knew he did a couple of films, music changed after the Beatles not sure if Billy could have changed with it, didn't seem his style.
