80s was the era of The Big Hair... Not just the rock bands, but most women and men participated in The Big Hair trend in our parachute pants and Candies high heels... 😁
The band is named after the lead singer Jon Bon Jovi. He & the band are still touring too. Jon is also a philanthropist is involved in 35 charities, including his own the Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. He has helped over 700 families get affordable housing across 11 states. Amazing man & the band is fire! Every song is fire. Wanted dead or alive is another big hit for this band.
You had to live in that era to understand the hair. It was was called big. Both men and women wore it that way. The style eventually went to the mullet. This band and others defined the 80’s and 90’s. A similar group was Guns & Roses which featured Slash as lead guitar. Two songs from them is “Wanted dead or alive” and “Sweet Child o Mine.” The latter is the opening riff on the Capital One commercial with the audition scene.
That, sweetie, is called the big hair. It defined the eighties girls looked pretty much just like the guys only our hair was bigger. A generation of young girls single handedly wiped out the ozone layer with our cans upon cans of aquanet hairspray lol God, what great memories I have!
Since everyone answered the other questions, I'll just add a bit about the hair styles. The name changes depending on which area or generation, but it's called 'Big Shag' for most of my generation (ah, we were the lucky ones to have Bon Jovi and GnR as our 'coming of age' bands). And if you're taking suggestions, all of the ones mentioned below, but maybe throw in "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Bed of Roses". Welcome to the party :)
Love Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi took their name from lead singer Jon Bon Jovi (born Jon Bongiovi). One of the greatest hair bands of the 80s and still to this day. Some other songs you need to check out is " You give love a bad name", " Runaway" , " Bed of roses" , "Always", "I'll be there for you" , "Blaze of glory" ( this one you may have heard if you ever seen young guns 2 ) , "It's my life", " Wanted dead or alive", "Someday I'll be Saturday night" there's many more but I'll just name these for now
I’m 53 years old and oh the memories! I remember man I used to sit in my room and wait for the song to come on the radio so I can record it on my cassette tape. Anyway, this song is iconic.
Jon Bon Jovi once gave the perfect answer when a reporter questioned his creativity for not changing his music on stage. He said that those songs belong to the fans, not him, and he doesn’t have the right to "steal their memories" by altering them. It’s all about respecting the deep emotional connection his audience has with his music. That's why he delivers the hits just the way people remember them, honoring the memories and nostalgia they bring. True class from a legend!
lead singer is Jon Bon Jovi band named after his last name This song is a rock anthem Their catalog of music is huge and amazing Listen to Wanted Dead or Alive and You give Love a Bad Name Just to start
4:05 - I don't recall the hair style having a name, it was "80s hair", but someone below said "Big Shag" and that's what it looks like - a big shag cut - but it's 80s hair, everyone had it. The bigger the better.
Always been “80s hair” to me! Hot rollers, perms, volume, cemented by Aqua Net. I’m not as smart as I was due to the fumes and the ozone suffered the wrath of fashion. I’m still pissed that I missed this concert with Skid Row opening because (of all the effing things at age 13) I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and in surgery. 😭 I still have ptsd 😂😂😂😂😂
BonJovi was a band that their concert was even better than what you heard on the radio or cassette. Every concert was high energy and they did this night after night for months on tour like so many other great rock bands that filled arenas back in the day.
Ahh this song takes me back to my early teenage years! I was madly in love with Jon Bon Jovi (lead vocalist) Please do more by them! This is one of the bands they consider an 80's hair band...lol...all the bands had big hair back then 😂 Check out "Wanted Dead or Alive" "You Give Love a Bad Name" "Always" "Never Say Goodbye" and Jon Bon Jovi also did a solo song called "Blaze of Glory" ❤️
Jon Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland have a song called "Who Says You Can't Go Home" great song! Also "Its My Life" by Bon Jovi is a great one too!
This song is what introduced me to Jon bon Jovi and at the rest of the band at age 13. 36 years later I am still a huge fan with 17 CDs and one bottle record in in my collection. I also have a few DVD. Jon bon Jovi had to change the singing style because he could no longer hit those high notes but I still love em
I still feel bad for my dad. He raised me on iron butterfly, Hendrix and all the best rock of the ‘60’s. My first album I ever bought was their slippery than wet album. I was 6. My poor dad was skeptical but LOVED it. Love you dad. ❤️🌻
You can sing rock AB and your voice is amazing. Yes Bon Jovi, the one song that inprinted in my childhood memories is "IT'S MY LIFE". But many their songs are iconic. Like "YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME", "I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU", and "ALWAYS". Hope you can react to "You Give Love A Bad Name" & "Bad Medicine".
Jon Bon Jovi is a legend, as is the whole band....this was what we listened to in High School...and yes the hair was a "thing"! lol These guys did not miss, ever! Welcome to 80's Hair Rock Bands!!! Other great songs are, "Its My Life", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "You Give Love a Bad Name" and a ton more, they have a huge catalogue.
The New Jersey tour. I saw them in Dallas. Was not that impressed with Skid Row’s performance, the only word that could be understood was the “F word”, if I remember correctly it was Skid Row’s first concert opening for Bon Jovi.
I’ve seen them live a couple of times and they are fantastic live. Jon started stomping out the intro to this song and the entire audience came in and sang the first verse. It was amazing!!! Please do more of their songs, they’ve got one hell of a deep catalog.
I think your next ones should be Bad Medicine, Always, Lay Your Hands on Me, I'll Be There For You, and It's My Life. In that order - with all of the official videos. They will DEFINITELY make your hall of fame. Enjoy the ride :)
It’s called the 80’s hahaha (the hair) we all had really big hair. I wasn’t allowed to put posters on my wall at home to put holes, needless to say, my ceiling was full of posters, including Bon Jovi, lol, for real- who wouldn’t want to wake up looking at that beautiful man, haha
That hairstyle is just called Big Hair! "The higher the hair, the closer to God." Lol. Those of us of a certain age still appreciate Jon Bon Jovi for the silver fox he is now. Plus that, he appears to be a genuinely nice guy and also has all that talent! Yeppers. Still love me some Bon Jovi! I probably have some old cassette tapes somewhere .... lol. "WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" next, please! This song is the theme song for the tv show Deadliest Catch, so you may know part of it.
Back in the 80's we just called it "big hair". It was usually permed and then teased with a comb and set in place with copious amounts of hairspray. It was a great time to be alive and the music cannot be beat.
I love everything about this video - the band, the song, and the way the whole band seems to be having the time of their life as they prepare for a show.
Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home
The big hair, shoulder pads and boots were all high style in the 80s. It was usually long and layered, or “feathered”. The big hair is why 80s rock bands were called Hair bands. Other songs to check out are Bad Medicine, She’s a Little Runaway, Dead or Alive and In and Out of Love to start.
I was lucky to grow up in the 80's. The music from that era was fire. My favorites from that time were Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. Please react to more of them. You will not be disappointed.
Married more than 40 years to his high school sweetheart. Runs a free kitchen for people who need it. Doesn't show his good deeds often in the back washing dishes
Other great songs by Bon Jovi: 1) "Who Says You Can't Go Home" featuring Jennifer Nettles 2) Wanted Dead or Alive 3) Always 4) Bed of Roses 5) Runaway 6) Blaze of GLory 7) Have A Nice Day 8) Keep the Faith 9) Never Say Goodbye 10) You Give Love A Bad Name

😆 "who are they?" "what is happening to me?" "Oh my god I'm so in love with them." That is how this song grabbed me when I saw the video 26 years ago - and I became a Bon Jovi fan since that late night on MTV.😉
First concert I went to was Bon Jovi in the late 80's, I was 11? A wonderful time was had by all, even dad who drove and actually went to the concert (not that he knew the music but to make sure I was safe). Went to many concerts with my parents (before I was old enough to drive), all I had to do was buy an extra ticket for a parent to "babysit" and they'd drive me and my friends. Eventually they became comfortable with what a rock concert was like (just fine, but loud) and waited in the parking lot. A note to you kids, be a good kid and you get to do cool stuff! I even did Def Leppard with mom and my little brother, he was ~8?
80s metal hair band is what the hairstyle is called..... almost all 80s metal bands had long curled, teased, permed, more hair spary than most girls 😂 the bigger and longer their hair looked the more they loved it ❤
Bon Jovi has a lot of great songs. Some of my personal favorites are below. Have a Nice Day It's My Life Always Bed of Roses You Give Love a Bad Name Bad Medicine I'll Be There for You
I’m really enjoying the way you are enjoying these songs. You’re not hesitant to go back and listen to a section again that you like. It makes me smile. 👍👍😊
They are from jersey.this so g was the first single off their second album slippery when wet which broke them worldwide.and was the first song I heard in the UK as a new teen. Jon the lead singer writes the lyrics Richie sambora the lead guitarist writes the music. Richie was just revealed as jacket potato on the masked singer UK. Love them.please do more.
80’s hair band is what that hair is. Look at rock bands from this era. Mötley Crüe, Poison, Def Leppard, Skid Row, Guns N’ Roses etc. All of them had this hair
Great reaction!! Please do more Bon Jovi! Here's some of my favorites; Born to be my baby, You give love a bad name, Wanted dead or alive, I'll be there for you, Bad medicine, Blaze of glory & so many more🎶🥰🎶
My mother and stepdad went to see them in concert. Some guy came up with a gun and demanded the tickets. Stepdad chased him down. Security escorted them to closer and better seats.
Jon's Dad was a barber and cut Jon's hair. I was obsessed with him as a teen and had this hairstyle. Won best hair senior class if that tells you anything lol.
The clothing style is 80’s hair band style. This song is from 1986. Other people recommended a lot of the early stuff, but I would recommend some later songs like Have A Nice Day, You Had Me At Hello, Bounce, Undivided, We Weren’t Born To Follow, Scars On This Guitar…ok, that’s enough. As you can probably tell, I love this band, LOL.
We actually called that hair style “the Bon Jovi” look! 😂😂 Basically you let your perm be wild!! This album was the soundtrack to my High School experience! Everyone loved Bon Jovi, and the second love was Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack. Not a bad song on it 💜💜
LOL, you kill me. What in the hairstyles!! "Aye," "Come On Now," the dancing, air guitar playing - ABtheKreator - you've won me over. I'm subcribing. 👌
Bon Jovi was definitely the best of the hair bands as they were known for their amazing manes. There was also Ratt, Cinderella and others but clearly Bon Jovi was the best of the bunch.
80s was the era of The Big Hair... Not just the rock bands, but most women and men participated in The Big Hair trend in our parachute pants and Candies high heels... 😁

A video showcasing that is "Who Says You Can't Go Home" with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland
He’s also an actor ..
Yeah, "...Dead or Alive" is fab!!!

Bed of Roses is my favorite BJ song.

This instantly takes me back to being a teenaged girl in the 80's and obsessed with Bon Jovi ❤️
Same for me. I was nuts for Jon and Richie.
100%. Had the Slippery When Wet LP cover tacked onto my wall.
Same
Yep! And between us & them, 80's Big Hair Bands, I wonder how much money Aqua Net made!!! 😂😂
Saw them on the New Jersey tour! I had a shirt with him from the shoulders up and I remember my dad asking me who the girl on my shirt was!😂
LOVE LOVE Bon Jovi!!! Please please do “Wanted Dead or Alive” from them next!!! SUCH A GOOD SONG!! 😁😁
Absolutely!!!
Do the acoustic version. It's amazing.
BANGER!!!

My favorite Bon Jovi song is "Wanted Dead Or Alive"! My 9yr old loves "Living On A Prayer"!
Since everyone answered the other questions, I'll just add a bit about the hair styles. The name changes depending on which area or generation, but it's called 'Big Shag' for most of my generation (ah, we were the lucky ones to have Bon Jovi and GnR as our 'coming of age' bands).

Probably one of my most favorite rock bands…. I remember going to a Hard Rock Cafe and this song came on and the whole place was singing it
Bon Jovi has a treasure trove of hits.
Saw them live...they were a great band to see live. Skid Row opened for them.

“You give love a bad name” is another good one

Every Bon Jovi song is GREAT!!!
Back in the 80's we just called it "big hair". It was usually permed and then teased with a comb and set in place with copious amounts of hairspray. It was a great time to be alive and the music cannot be beat.
Jon Bon Jovi is amazing. Richie Sambora one of the GOATs of guitar. Richie left the band in 2013 after 30 years. That was a bummer. More Please!
He just got a platinum record from Spotify (I think it was Spotify) for 1 BILLION downloads For this song
I love everything about this video - the band, the song, and the way the whole band seems to be having the time of their life as they prepare for a show.
There is a reason why this sort of music was called “Hair Rock”. They all seemed to be sporting the big and/or permed hair
"You Give Love a Bad Name" is also good.
Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home
Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home

Welcome to the 80's!!! Bon Jovi is the best!! I was so lucky to be in my 20's with all the great bands 🌹
It’s a whole can of Aquanet holding the hair up. 😂
What kind of style/hair is that? 1980s Glam Rock.
In the 80’s the hairstyle was the more volume the better. The bands with this high volume hairstyle were called “Hair Bands”.
The big hair, shoulder pads and boots were all high style in the 80s. It was usually long and layered, or “feathered”. The big hair is why 80s rock bands were called
Hair bands. Other songs to check out are Bad Medicine, She’s a Little Runaway, Dead or Alive and In and Out of Love to start.
They did the entire Young Guns 2 soundtrack. It’s what, in the old days, one might call “an album full of JAMZ”.
We all had this hair back in that day 😂 boys girls everybody! Bon Jovi was my first rock concert❤ As good in person as on the albums
First time I ever saw Bon Jovi was in 80s on the boardwalk in Seaside. Their catalog is extensive. Keep the Faith was my fav album.
That entire album is fire!!!!
Jon's great uncle was Frank Sinatra. Imagine those family gatherings.
THANKS AB FOR TAKING ME BACK. YOU REALLY GOT TO HEAR WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE MY FAV SONG FOR SURE. CONGRATS ON THE SUPERBOWL ALSO
That’s permed hair with layers all over the place. AKA “80’s hair” …..we all had it.❤️🎶❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jon's Dad was a barber and cut Jon's hair. I was obsessed with him as a teen and had this hairstyle. Won best hair senior class if that tells you anything lol.
