    The incident actually happened to Musashi. But he was in a bath, naked except for his sword...no good. Heard them Samurai coming and fought his way clear. Terrible time for him. And one of the many times his former mother-in-law to be tried to have him killed...she repented in the end, as I recall.

      You're right... I think I read about that in his book "go rin no sho", or "book of 5 rings" (in the "about the author" section) lol. He was a TOTAL BADASS!! I literally laughed out loud a LOT while reading about his life! I mean... WHO beats somebody to DEATH with a carved down BOAT PADDLE (or oar) of all things, after being a little more than "fashionably late" just to piss'em off and be disrespectful. What's even funnier, is that he took a damn STICK to a SWORDFIGHT, MULTIPLE TIMES!! lmao... (AND WON!! 😂😂)

    Young Musashi, able to survive long enough to learn the dangers of hesitation against an enemy who seeks to annihilate you.

    • @doctorreno9439
      @doctorreno9439 5 років тому +19

      Yes, and after spending over two-years as a captive of the Daimyo and forced to read, to learn and above all, behave himself (Musashi called it "learning to be a REAL human"). To learn not to act like a thug. To learn from others, to seek enlightenment and to try to become the best person, read Samurai, he could possibly be. In later life he took up calligraphy-painting, Haiku, general discourse, with his monk friend and others, and even music--he even taught school for a while. He eventually understood that the only way to win a fight was to not-fight. Went to live in a cave to write the Book of Five Rings, where he ended his days. The cave is still there and still attended by one-single monk which you can visit if you wish to learn and understand what Musashi knew.
      PS - RE "...learn the dangers of hesitation," Budo teaches, wait for the other to strike--and give themselves away in doing so. Iaido, however, teaches to strike first, strike once. Experience tells you which to do.

      scenes after Musashi defeats her husband (she wants a revenge but she knows he is a good human

      The covert warfare specialists of the era went by names besides Ninja and Shinobi. Kanja for example was the term employed by certain outfits. Nor were they all super-agile "assassins", many were just informants and scouts. Point being, Musashi fought assassins who hid their identities.

      Stop basing your ideas of ninjas on videogames and movies. Like for like a Samurai was a far superior swordsman, since he trained in martial arts specifically, which is why ninja relied on deception and devices to misdirect a samurai and ideally surprise and greater numbers. Ninja or shinobi, to use the original name, trained in many disciplines, so has less time to spend on martial arts, so would avoid combat unless they had to or were on an assassination mission.
      The ones shown here were actually pretty authentic, using shrunken and arrows at range whilst simultaneously attacking up close. The use of caltrops is also accurate as was the flash grenade. The black garb is stereotypical however, as they usually wore peasant garb to blend in or other disguises. When they did wear the trademark shinobi shōzoku, they would choose colours appropriate to the environment, such as white for snow, grey for rock and black at night. However there is little to no proof they ever wore the trademark garb.

      No, fue un Ronin durante mucho tiempo, hasta que entro' en servicio en la casa de Hosokawa, despues ya mayor se retiro' y se fue' a la cueva de Raigendo, donde escribio' su famoso libro: " El Libro de los Cinco Anillos"

    the ninja would traditionally be in dark blue shozoku. naginata small versions were used by the women in the homes for protection. still alot better then todays fraudulent ninjutsu dojo's " great movie"

      unfortunately I can disappointing you, shinobi did not always wear shozoku. They were mainly spies or thiefs, but they were also filled with missions to eliminate someone.
      Shozoku Shinobi no mono had different colors, dark blue was not often found and even not more traditional.
      The most common colors of shozuku were: brown, gray or white (they were used depending on the season and the climate that prevailed).
      Naginata does not have a small version, Naginata is Naginata it's all.
      It is a spear with a long blade that resembles a wide blade of katana or tachi blades.

      @Cervando 5 років тому

      As above. The colours worn by shinobi, assuming they wore no disguise, would allegedly be chosen to blend in with their surroundings. Thus black at night, white in snow, grey on rocks. I have never heard of blue being commonly worn. However, shinobi did not wear the shinobi shōzoku all the time, if at all as they usually went in peasant garb to go unnoticed or otherwise disguised.
      The yari was by far the most popular weapon used by Samurai. In the home the slashing movements of a naginata would have been restricted, whereas the thrusts of a yari less so. However the naginata is indeed a weapon associated with female samurai as well as sohei.
      You may be thinking of a Nagamaki, which is a longer blade, similar to a katana in length, attached to a shorter 3 to 4 ft. pole. Also a naginata made for use by a woman would be slightly shorter and lighter to suit her height and build. They were referred to as ko naginatas.
