hey i made my own ww1 diorama of a mark v crossing a trench for my school history project and it turned out great thanks to your tank weathering tips and miniature painting tips, you really go me into my modelling thankyou and i am always leaning from you thanks
You can do dioramas for school projects? Dayum
@@legendaryleon6270 I did it all the time, very fun
I recently completed the same theme diorama xD
@@legendaryleon6270 had to do a couple when I was in school 30 years ago.
yes but did you get an A
So excited to see this one, no mans land makes for such an incredible diorama
That chunk you cut off the bottom of the tank, don't throw it out! Do another diorama of one completely upside down in water. Two for one dioramas! Is there an escape hatch in the bottom of these tanks? If so, show it open.
THAT'S AN AWESOME IDEA SIR‼️
Thanks Uncle, had a mega rubbish day and this has cheered me up no end. Love the diorama, you're endlessly talented! Big love from the UK
I feel ya, but remember, things ALWAYS get better!
It's really cool to see how your process is changing since you started this channel. The composition of this diorama is crazy!
Improvise, adapt, overcome :D

I feel like Uncle Nightshift just has a switch that says. “Easy mode”. But no really, this is freaking amazing dude! I love watching your work come to life.
tbh I thought creating an entire diorama all at once would be easier, but who would've thought it would actually be a ton of work? :D
@@NightShiftScaleModels Would you say that the easy part is that you don't have to blend together models painted individually with different techniques?
Im a 3D artist and listening to how you make your dioramas is awesome and really helps me know more about visual story telling. Awesome work!
Man, your dioramas are just great and impressive
Ahhh the words that make my day.... "MAAAAA-FRENS!"
Beautiful work as always, Martin. Forget all the 'challenge' stuff, like 'airbrush only' - do whatever it takes to make the whole scene pop!
The narrative and captioning made this into the most enjoyable video ever, I especially enjoy when you said "my friends" a lots.
Every of your videos is so interesting to watch. Thank you so much.
Been waiting all week for this!!! 👍👍
That Friday do be hitting different
Interesting. You have demonstrated much more than technical ability and modelling hacks. You have something that cannot be taught, namely an artistic talent. The use of colour to direct the eye to the soldier as the only living thing did not go unnoticed. So, any negatives? Yes. We don’t say, “So to say”, we say “So to speak”. Picky ain’t I?
Love this ww1 diorama, I make some myself, mainly figures and artillery
Every project you do is superb and tells a story. This diorama is no exception!! It is awesome. My favorite is the paint job and weathering on the tank. Thank you for another great video!
Atmospheric and gorgeous, love the work on the tank and on the ground...😍😍👍👍👍
"that's some artsy fartsy bullcrap ma friends"......I laughed hard at that one
Thank you I am in so much praise of your craft -just a jot to watch . i think i just need 20 years of practice to get close to your skills
amazing work! I cant believe it was literally cut in half in such a crude way.
Thank you nightshift I woke up early to watch this I’m so excited 👍
I wish I could make my models look as good as yours. You do such an awesome job with the painting, weathering, and chipping. I started scale modeling in the middle of 2020. And so far it has brought me pure joy thank you for being a inspiration to me and many others.
I've seen the WWI photograph that the diorama is depicting and I was like W💥W! Thats really impressive. Great skills for the Great War!
He shows the photo in the first video...
Incredible work. What you call a first layer looks like a finished product to me. I can't wait to see the next video!
I always liked Phil Stuckinska's method of water. He painted a gradient that got darker towards the middle to represent increasing depth, then layered on some Klear and built up the water effect like that. Very effective!
Your in progress looks better than my finished projects.
What looks really good is the loop of the track, gives it a really interesting feel.
It's definitely starting to look like a movie still. The color grading is excellent
I have a archeology paper somewhere where they dug up a track shoe (circa 1918) for British tank and the amazing thing is what's clinging to it is Moss/MG/British railroad green. I think they call it Service Color. The black primer and thinned paint do make a huge difference. This diorama is great inspiration to continue down the WW1 rabbit hole. Always so creative. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your expertise…very realistic!
Wow......i am absolutely blown away by your Incredible attention to detail, you certainly have an eye for the very fine details. Can't wait to see the completely finished diorama.
Uncle Night Shift has uploaded...wild heart beats ;)
I love waiting for Sat morning (my time) to see your latest work. Thank you :)
You are really on a totally different level to absolutely everyone else on UA-cam. Inspiring!
Looking pretty good so far. Lots of work.
Lookin' great!👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Great looking result so far. Painting everything Black and then let it post shade itself, is my most favorite painting technique right now. :D
The tank looks so good in just black!
Good Day Modelcomrade.
The painting for the Tank is exelent.
Especialy the british marks in Front of the Tank.
I hope to see soon the Final 🤗🤗👍i wish you a nice weekend 🍺🍺🍺Greets from Christian
I love the super glue and toothpick trick! I need to try that.
I'm so happy you uploaded a new video! It's gonna be awesome as always
Very cool! I certainly agree with the desaturated and gloomy look, but I like that you have some variation with the flimsy cans, markings, and the figure. I still can’t wait to see the mud and water effects in future videos!
Exceptional as always and love the narration. Looking forward to seeing this one progress.
Almost spooky looking! I'd love to see some black and white photos of the finished diorama, maybe make them look vintage?!
Very nice job. Diorama is going to be great.
This. Is. Absolutely. Amazing!
Awesome work, as usual 👍🏻
I like your Art .Thanks
Absolutely loved the video! I really like how it’s coming along, the gritty and dull nature really suits the time period and the fact that the soldier will have brighter tones that makes them stand out is almost like an art piece. Love from Australia!
A single red poppy breaking thru the death and destruction would look cool
Thank you uncle night shift more making ww1 diorama
wow looks great and your not even finished, if I could get even close to this as it is now I would be ecstatic, looking forward to the final result
I love the rifle sling :)
Unique and different, Very nice as always 😀👍
Good progress, really enjoying the direction you're taking with this build! 👍
Fantastic dio.
Rewatched film '1917' today and decided to try recreating the broken canal bridge crossing scene. Watching your dio building and painting is inspiring.
Great work, I can't wait to see the final result! I really dig the "artsy fartsy bullcrap" - your idea is poignant and intriguing, and simple enough to be clear to any viewer!
Looking amazing Martin, love how you keep trying new things to improve your skills. Have a great weekend 😊👍
The "Arty-Farty Bull Crap" approach seems to be working out just fine so far. Looking forward to the next installment.
Your work is always stunning.
I see in this diorama the drowned tank in a swamp where was a chlorine gas. Died trees and slight covered by a green color ground tell about it. It's just my point of view. Work is great.
Beautiful work)
Hi buddy your diorama looks amazing I always look forward to your modelling videos you do amazing work looking forward to the next one. thank you for sharing mate.
cheers Gary 🇬🇧.
I learned ewrything abouth modelling from you. Thanks you so much
You've inspired me to make a ww1 diorama! Keep up the excellent work!
Cheers Unc, Crazy way to treat a tank but I love it! TFS, GB :)
Happy Friday Uncle Nightshift!
Hope all's well with you at home Martin!
I stopped model making many years ago, but love your channel as you do such amazing work. Kind of surrogate modelling! 🙂
*Vicarious modeling
@@mastodonseven Yes, I like that even better 😀

You should give it another go yourself in my opinion tho 👍
Nice painting
friday night is another master class by uncle night shift
Awesome work!!I would love seeing you do a char 2c super heavy tank sometime in the future
Awesome work! I can not wait for the next video!
exellent weathering !
I feel like you're reaching a new level of freedom and creativity with this project and it's great to watch! Keep it up man, awesome job and comments.
Very nice. Its coming along very nicely. Speaking of airbrushes, just ordered another detail brush a couple of hours ago.
night shift in order to airbrush resin the airbrush must have a .5 bec and above to spray ,and hi presure, I have pesonally sprayed resin with a procon boy ps 290 with the .7 bec on . if you want you can thin a bit the resin with IPA . .PS you can mist the resin with pure IPA to brake se surface tention a bit. I hope this helps you .
Just warched a t.v programe on recovering parts of ww1 tanks red oxide paint base colour and the green they first used was british racing green matt there was loads of camoflage variations.
It would be cool to leave a tide mark stain along the side and have the track be much more rusted at that level
Crazy! Super cool
Extremely cool!!
It's going to be awesome !!
Uncle night shift!!!! You are very talented and every new project you do gets better and better every time. I was wanting to know if you could do the M41 walker bulldog in a later video. I love the tank and if there’s anyone I know who could pull it off it’s you big man!!! Love ya
Promising project as always... Only thing I would suggest... The track that makes the circle is too perfect for a tank that was so damaged... also... I would expect such a heavy track would lean to one side, and be bended a bit or a lot... some force must have brought it up in that position, so also, same force would bend it and damage it... like this it looks too perfect... Everything else, great job, always fun to watch.
Amazing as usual
As usual, Martin ticks ALL the boxes!
Потрясающе!!!
🤗🤗🤗
Awesome... and it's not even finished 😎
Looking good .
Thanks Uncle night shift
This is looking wondeful so far, Im really excited about how it will turn out, but I have a sztrong feeling that it is going to be excellent. If I may give a suggestion, you might want to make a desert tan helmet cover made out of linen cloth or gunny for one of the discarded helmets, they were used pretty often back then, since they provided an excellent base for camouflage and dind't reflect light wen they got wet. I know, I know, I'ts really time consuming and completely unnecessary, but it would be an excellent base for unique weathering on worn down cloth soaked up with mud, and it would just give an extra small detail for the diorama. Just a suggestion, but anyways, I truly love this project, and I'm looking forward to seeing it being finished, so keep up the good work.
Can't wait to see part 3!
Finally a new Post
I love your Videos Night Shift prob the best Scale Modeler
Totally perfect. All the best for You! ;)
Great skill yet again. Just a little pointer for the future. The tanks names and squadron markings always began with the same letter. I know you said you were depicting a fictional tank from the markings you had, but with the name Firefly, the sqn number should have been F358, not A358. This doesn’t detract from the superb dio though.
About a year late to reply to this comment, but this is completely untrue of British WW1 tanks. The markings you refer to are specific to the Whippets, which were all fielded with the 'A' designation followed by a 3 digit numbering ranging from 200 to 399. In fact, the Whippet nicknamed 'Firefly' is actually still around today in a museum in Brussels, complete with the correct designation markings, 'A347'.
As for the Mark IV being depicted, the tank number designations didn't even feature a letter, all being numbered in a 4-digit designation ranging from 2001-8200 (excluding various ranges of numbers in between).
So great as always-
Very good always ,stay safe.
Sehr interessant, wie immer sehr gut erklärt
i was waiting so hard for this
I waited soo Long for this Video 👍👍
