I'll never forget when the local eccentric got a 16 mm print of this film and showed it at the United Daughters of the Confederacy hall in our little cotton farming town. It was the first foreign film I saw. I must have been 13. I just laid on the floor and took the whole thing in.
This band has built itself a niche where it can pretty always sound modern. If they came out today, they'd still be cool. They probably wouldn't sell millions though because you have to be a half naked teenager to succeed in music today as a female musician. This band has to much class and art.
I just watched the movie for the first time in more than a decade. What a wild trip! I love it. And live this song, which i hadn’t realized existed! Great short cut of the movie too!
DJ Tom Yaz- thank you so much for this intensely artistic, striking , and moving combination of a brilliant and beautiful song by the B-52s with the beautiful, brilliant 1965 film. It works so well, and has brought me joy and pleasure watching it. Thank you for making this. Best to you wherever you are.
Juliet of the Spirits The B-52's Juliet I can feel your glow Of passions ready to explode Secrets you've kept should all be told Like blossoms ready to unfold Juliet you're not afraid anymore Juliet, Juliet, I'm not afraid anymore Sweet love's coming on Girl can you hear it? Steppin' into sunshine Juliet of the Spirits Pleasure is calling you Girl can you hear it? Sweet love honey's what you need Juliet I can feel it Spirits let your cool light shine Visions swirling let me tell you mine You're a force of nature can't be controlled You know you've got it girl, come on and let it show Juliet you're not afraid anymore Juliet, Juliet, I'm not afraid anymore Sweet…
Thanks Tom by this great video from this great band.. Effectively, as we tap our desires and demons, we gain in self-awareness and independence. Farewell.
Wonderful job, really encompasses the movie. Not a lot of people know about this film so when I first heard the song I was pretty excited and this put it together really well. Thanks!
Giulietta Masina has to be one of the most beautiful woman of all time, especially in this movie and in Nights of Cabiria. She's so beautiful she breaks my heart.
Here is the irony - they did a video for the title track, "Funplex." It peaked a respectable #11 on the dance chart. They never did an official video for this song and it peaked at #8 on the dance chart - higher than the one that was promoted by a video. The coming back of Cindy Wilson allowed them do a duet for the first time since the Cosmic Thing album and I guess their voices were missed more. It is a very good, modern electronic song for them in the 2000s.
Great editing job! This would make a brilliant trailer if the film were ever re-released, though maybe it gives too much away for new viewers, not that it’s a shock ending! I never knew the B52s had done this song and only found it while searching the movie. The anniversary of Fellini’s death is October 31, by the way.
I thought Tom did a great job. It has been a long time running that the Bs and Fellini got together. They based their early look on Fellini films they have said so in interviews. Second, it is not a so-caled art film... it is an art film one of my favorites. And why oh why have the Bs released a single and not make a video to promote it? Tom did a great job and the action in the video matches perfectly the mood of the lyrics! I love it!
Just a question... is this a fan-made video of segued segments from the Fellini film to go along with the B-52's song of the same name...? Or is this the official music video.... knowing the Bs attachment to Fellini, either is believable and neither changed my opinion on this wonderful marriage of Fellini and the Bs! A fantastic collage of two masterpieces meeting each other... !
Tom did a wonderful job with the Juliette of the Spirits video and paid homage to both Fellini and the band. I don't like all of Tom's video creations but this one and several others are masterpieces.
@BellaAlexis He was a date set up for Juliet by her exotic neighbor Suzy that Juliet was embarrassed to go through with. He has a Romanesque look about him like a statue of Eros or Adonis.
You do realize that the song IS based on the "1960's so-called art film" don't you? You seem to experiencing a blazing disconnect yourself. I'm certain if the B-52s made an official video for this song, they most definitely would have either used footage from this film, or would have costumed themselves as characters from the film.
Tom "Yaz" certainly has some nerve appropriating footage from an old 1960's so-called "art film"...It just doesn't work. I am a huge fan of the B-52's and this was a highlight off their most recent studio recording. I would much rather see an official video for the song, without this blazing disconnect. Yaz should be fined, and perhaps be put in prison!
One of my all time favourite B52s songs, they really are some of the most beautiful people in music and of course R.I.P. the lovely Ricky too.
My favourite B-52s song by quite some distance. And I can't imagine a better visual accompaniment. Well done, sir.
Wonderful movie, wonderful music, wonderful video. 🤩
Fellini
Genius meets masterpiece - The marriage of this fantastic song to the film is perfect. Very B52s indeed!

i cant believe youve told the WHOLE story of the film in this wonderful 4.23 minute vid clip CONGRATULATIONS!!

I come here when I want a happy place. It's so refreshing and well-timed. Thanks, Tom.
thanks much love
I GOT IN THE SHOW OF FUNPLEX ALBUM IN 2012 IN RIO DE JANEIRO. IT WAS VERY GRAY. IT WAS THE ULTIMATE SHOW FROM THE GROUP.
I just watched the movie for the first time in more than a decade. What a wild trip! I love it. And live this song, which i hadn’t realized existed! Great short cut of the movie too!

ULTRAVIOLET
Love this album.
Amazing work, totally fits the song and brings it to life, the sign of a great music video.

B-52's should have hired Tom Yaz.
Gotta luv the f'ing vid ! LOVE YOU !

In character she's one of the most compelling women I've ever seen.

amazing
Fellini was a genius...
I would love to see this film, I hope it's not too hard to track down.
perhaps not. i think you did a lovely job editing this piece.
Is this the BEST SONG the B-52's ever recorded...?

Came here after listening to Jody wisternoffs global dj broadcast amazing remix by Glenn Morrison
Every action brings consequences. End.

Please do "Don't Worry" - it's essential - the old video was taken down.
Poop on Yoko.
2:41 - Proto-Max Headroom?
@tomyazvids I think you'd probably have to ask him or her.
it indeed is a woman - Giulietta Masina, Fellini´s wife
Fellini was an iconic italian director
Duh.
Art makes strange bedfellows. Or not so strange?
@BellaAlexis He was a date set up for Juliet by her exotic neighbor Suzy that Juliet was embarrassed to go through with. He has a Romanesque look about him like a statue of Eros or Adonis.
Looks like to me at least that Fellini was a bit weird, but I love the song.
you need to research Fellini. he would tell a story in a surreal grand style.

What they are forcing me to do with my animals is unforgivable.

Was it featured on that
