Great topic. But, nutrition is not complicated. Our modern society has made our diet overly complicated by engineering food for mass production. Remove the mass produced food, nutrition takes care of itself.
Add in lack of activity or exercise, and the combination is toxic.
Also, the diet problem shows just how broken our society is, in that we do not teach nutrition (properly) in middle and high school. By the time kids graduate from high school, they have already ingrained bad habits and impacted their future health.
When we brought in Coke/candy machines into schools, we began the downhill slide to poor health.

A great episode that I enjoyed so much more than I expected - Dr Berry is not only extremely knowledgeable, but also a very adept communicator who made a complicated and potentially boring subject fascinating to a lay person.

I heard a lot of good information specific to general health here--some key words I've heard in other prominent discussions regarding longevity, 'health span' and circadian rhythms being most influenced by light and feeding times. Attia's focus and Huberman's interview with Sachin Panda come to mind. What I'd like to hear more of is how these habits specifically relate to a performance athlete. Dr. Berry, here, touched ever so briefly on the notion that as an athlete, that steep blood sugar spike that's no good for general health, ain't so bad for a cyclist for instance. What I wanna know is when I come home smashed from a 5 hour ride and there's literally nothing left--what should I be eating and drinking, do we still agree on the 'recovery window' idea, and what should I have eaten on the ride? I have my habits, but are they still valid? :)

I didn't hear you talk about timing drinking during the day. What people think to drink to have clear pee is not enough, you need to time the drinking correctly in relation to sleeping and eating and not only in relation to thirst and fitness.

Dr Berry, have u looked at genetic response to food ie, If your grandad was a Yorkshire miner who did 12 hour shifts down the pint on cabbage and potatoes and what meat could be caught, or if a Jamaican athletes grandfather worked in the fields on mainly beans rice and bananas fish etc etc...........

Is it possible for your LDL to go up when you're exercising and losing weight? My LDL has gone down initially since I've been eating healthier. But since I started exercising as well and losing weight, it has gone up somewhat. Is it possible for the LDL that was stored in that fat which is now being released into my system to increase my LDL again?

I am sorry but a lot of rubbish have been said about plants … 1st they contain a lot of anti nutrient stuff in it, second she is talking and being worried about excess glucose and yet still promoting snacking between even healthy food increase your blood sugar level for instant banana… orange juice story there is studies which says there is not significant difference between fresh squeezed oranges juice and oranges eaten in favour of whole oranges spike glucose 95 vs 103 squeezed oranges so please do not be miss-led by this lady , huel protein thing which this guy is promoting another rubbish proceed food maybe a bit healthier than highly proceeded food … look at the ingredients of this product and no rocket science there is a lot of rubbish in it… next porridge really ? A lot glyphosate saponins and so on… chicken depends on the sources conventional one full of polyunsaturated fats and you call it healthy food sorry but must disagree on it education education and one more time more education…..
