- In this first episode of our new series, Master Mixology, we dive into the spooky effects of different cocktails and what makes them glow! By using a blacklight, vitamin B and some scientific curiosity, our creators were eager to share these recipes and findings with you.
Please drink responsibly.
So, this is really cool, I have an interesting challenge for you!
You know those jars that are filled with liquids of different densities in layers? I would like to see a video of you attempting this with the glowing chemicals to create a drink that has at least 2 separate layers of color! Making it edible is optional for this challenge, but will grant some major bonus points!
How long does it last the flourescent effect?
Hello! Are you asking in general or for a specific beverage in this video?
Hi @farevoir! We spoke with our scientists in this video and here's their response: The fluorescence is not a chemical reaction, so it's not like the reaction "completes." The glow comes from the energy from the light shining on it, so as long as there's a blacklight, there should be a glow.
Thank you very much! I asked because I want to make fluorescent drinks to showcase at a food industry exhibition @@DiscoveryPlaceMuseum
Fun! Let us know how it goes! :) @@farevoir
Where can I buy the Vitamin B? Also, is it safe to consume? Are there any side effects of too much?
Hello! In this video, we used liquid Vitamin B12 which you can find at any vitamin store or pharmacy. Energy drinks have B12 already in them so that is an option for the beverage. B12 is safe to consume! It's found naturally in meat, fish and dairy and our bodies use it to create DNA, among other things.
Also! You won't need more than one drop per drink if you choose to purchase liquid b12. :)
@@DiscoveryPlaceMuseum Awesome, thank you so much! Was there a particular brand of liquid Vitamin B12 that was used for the video? Lots of options at my local pharmacy haha
@@caseysmith2706 You should be good with any brand! We used the liquid form and only a couple drops.
Where can I buy the dry ice?
Hello! Dry ice is available at most chain grocery stores like Walmart, Costco, Food Lion, etc.
@@DiscoveryPlaceMuseum can't wait to try it. Thank you!
Good luck and enjoy!!@@alexandergarcia5389
