I've been shooting photography most of my adult life. It started with an on sale Nikon D3200 that wasn't even interested in using, all the way through being a photography business owner, teacher, and UA-cam Photography Content Creator.
My favorite subjects are Human Portraits and Shallow Depth of Field with my specialty, or claim to fame if you will, being Dramatic Nude and Bodyscape. Over my many years of photography I've mastered many genres but I never stop learning and I don't want you to stop either. That's why I started my UA-cam Channel in the year 2020. After a hiatus from photography, I picked up my camera again just in time for the Covid Pandemic. The world shut down. With more time than ever and no humans to photograph I found myself bored but motivated. ZWade Photo, the UA-cam Channel, was born.
I have always been a Nikon brand photographer, but in my community on UA-cam there is limitless room for Canon, Sony, Fuji, Leica, Hasselblad, Nikon, AND any other brand, photographers. Follow along as this channel one day grows into the biggest, most honest, and most fun photography community on the internet.
I'm ZWade the ZWade in ZWade Photo, Stay Sharp UA-cam.

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite guys up here. You nailed it on this one. I agree with you about the 24-120mm. My favorite edc, travel and street kit is the Z8, 24-120mm and 40mm f2. If I’m in sketchy situations I’ll take Z6ii, 28mm and 40mm. Great job Sir.
Well hey I appreciate you saying so! Nice collection over there James 🤙🤙🤙
The 24-120 f4 is a fantastic lens, and when I first got my Z9 I tried using it for street photos but found the combination too bulky; the 35 & 50 f1.8's fared much better. Then my Zf came into the picture, and the 40 f2 and 28 f2.8 have proven to be fantastic for discreet yet involved street photography.
The Z9 is perfect, except in 2 genres for me, street and macro…it’s perfect size for portraits I love it. But macro and street will have you finally saying…it’s kinda big lol
Love and have all of them, I just love the Nikon Z system.
The Z lenses are so 🔥
I took the 24-120 f/4 as my only lens on a recent trip to England and Scotland. I never - not once - wished I had additional lenses with me. It performed very well in the narrow confines of the Underground... was exceptionally versatile in the iconic Scottish Highlands... and superb in the beautiful coastal towns I visited. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Heck yea dude it does everything you could want except hardcore pro sports and hardcore wildlife, for no other reason except the focal length. haha. Thanks for watching my friend.
Maybe a bit uncommon but a longer lens like 85 or even 135mm can be used for street. That way you can keep more distance and become more discrete.
Totally agree!
Well suppose different tools for different approaches. The only lenses Id consider are the 28/40, almost certainly the 28 for me personally for traditional street. Or the 70-200 f2.8 for street fashion. I personally carry the 28 and 50 when going into town, on a Zf
🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
The 24-120 has been my goto even in the F-mount. Its like the family minivan, it's not sexy but it does the job, reliably, and without complaint.
🙌🙌🙌
I like the 28 and 40mm lenses on the Zf for street photography.
They are excellent and dirt cheap. That used to be a rare thing. Now we see it all over haha. Thanks for watching!
Hi Z. Interesting video - you make good points.
That said, it seems to me that for low profile one would do well with the 40mm f/2; 28mm 2.8; or 26mm 2.8 - true that the IQ is not as good as the 50 1.8S (being one of the best IQ lenses on the market at any price). Still, these other lenses have very good IQ and are much more 'stealth' than the 50 1.8 - so if low profile/stealth is your thing, might be best to go with one of those.

Thanks for watching PD
Thank you for this video. To each their own, certainly but TRADITIONAL street photography calls for much more discretion. In fact, I don't use my Zf for street unless it's event-focused but I would only consider the 28 or the 40 as one of the previous posts commented - maybe the 50 but never a zoom. Walking around with a zoom lens is just not classic street photography. I do like your videos and appreciate the topic!
I’m glad you’re liking the content!
I love being far away and taking candid pics of people in the city. To do this, I find the 105MC is not bad, and the Plena is great for this. It allows me to shoot at night, which I love to do after is has rained. The 105 is small enough not to be noticed and the Plena has a long enough reach where people don't see me. The 85 is okay for this but it's so big and I'm usually close enough to people to be noticed and the pics are not candid anymore.
I haven’t gone out and shit this style. Lots of Karen’s in the Midwest lol
@@ZWadePhoto Even more reason for you to go out and shoot it!
26mm 2.8 is wide, fast enough, sharp in the middle, and super discreet
🙌🙌
The 26mm for the Zf for low profile street photography. The 24-120 is great for flexibility like when traveling and the 50 1.8 is soooo good.
Love your content. To the point. No fluff and you’re not afraid to call a turd a turd. Refreshing.
Hahaha glad you’re digging the content 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
In my bag it is 28, 40 and 24-120
Nice range!
I use 24-120
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you for this video! What do you think about the 28mm f/2.8 or the 40mm f/2.8? Their IQ is probably not as good as the lenses you mentioned, but they sure are small and the 40mm is a nice street focal length.
I think they are both great lenses. The 40mm in particular is underpriced. And I agree 40mm is a good daily lens. They used to be common place before my time. Shame.
The pancake Z 26mm may be worth considering.
I don’t know how I spaced it. It supposed to be part of the script because I do like that lens a lot.
@@ZWadePhoto This compact lens would save us from the crazy Karens!
@@stanobert3475 tell em it’s a toy they’d by that. Meanwhile you’re ripping super sharp contrastsy shots and colorful shots
i think 70-200 best for street ... bcz in wide click i can click by my phone and quality may be good . so when i use camera then i must wanna use 50mm or 70-200 mm :P
@@IkramAhmedPushon right on Ikram. Thanks for watching
The 50mm 1.8 S was my first lens for the my Z5. Recently picked up the 24-70mm f/4 S. Would have preferred the 24-120, but the cheapest 24-120 where I am is around $1000CAD (even used), whereas I managed to get the 24-70 for $90CAD (after trading in 2 older lenses I never used).
Nice nice 🤙🤙any idea what comes next?
@@ZWadePhoto Trying to figure out where I want to focus on primarily. Along with street photography I enjoy wildlife and landscape. A decent telephoto (300mm+) is just too pricey atm, so I'll likely go with an ultra wide as my next.
What do you think of the 24-70mm f/4 S?
I think that even though it’s a “kit” lens, it’s unfair to call it a kit lens. Because it’s too good be labeled as such.
Don’t get your dislike for the 35mm 1.8 it’s quite stellar using it for the last few weeks. The asking price is quite reasonable.
We all have our opinions. 🤙
And then your like for the 40mm. I was quite excited to get it with the ZF and it was just a sh!t show from sharpness, lousy colors and strange rendering. I gave it a month thinking it was me but it’s just horrible. But its size would have been so good for street photography.
@@WhoIsSerafin you got a bad copy of the 40mm no one has ever disliked that lens in my comment section.
The 35 on the other hand, totally sharp enough, but a little flat, slow, and still more expensive than the 50 f/1.8 which has none of the problems
Nikon lacks pancake lenses. Even the standard offerings like 50 1.8 are larger than competition.
They have one technically pancake lens. But it is really killer 🤙
Unfortunately for the competition 50mm f1.8 is costly, but it's sharp in comparison. Hence I think nikon made 40mm cheaper.
Waist level finders are more discreet too ...🦘
🤘🤘
If you are worried about getting caught, maybe you shouldn't be doing it.
