Wow, 140mph and he made a split second decision to dump the bike, it just shows the speed at which these riders react and how much they really are living on the edge, especially when there is nowhere to go to run off, as like they would on a proper race track.
He's a man who knows you don't generally walk away from a high speed crash on the Isle of man. I think the fact he survived it was the thing that shocked him the most.
unfortunately he has been with another crash in the NW200 and this one was a career ender. with BMW this time. but it was his own fault. massive high side at high speed and broke his back badly. really lucky he didn't stay crippled.

Guy has had a few surprises on his return to the IOM firstly the speed of the competion, they are all dialled into their bikes and software excluding Dunlop who would ride anything with or without aids on the bike. Secondly the bike was far from ready to race and most people knew that, JM crash was down to the autoblipper hence a change of software to Motec, Thirdly Guy has never raced for wages before which always left him the door open to walk away from a bad team or bike, Honda are paying him to ride the thing. Lastly I think Guy will never return to the TT he is getting older and wiser, and hopefully he will get his dads Rocket 3 out of the pub and ride it in the Classic TT where he will boost the attendance and enjoy himself once again.
Guy Martin is an absolute legend and an Isle of Man TT SAVAGE! You're a G.O.A.T. in my book! We are glad to see your upright and well. Shaken and distraught yes, but alive and well. God bless and we fans hope to see you back on the track before the event ends. If not, you and your team better be back next year! Just saying. Isle of Man TT isn't Isle of Man TT without you. #mytwocents
Doesn't matter who you are. If death comes whispering in your ear, it'll humble you. Guy seemed really shook up. Shows how dangerous the TT is. He is always upbeat and having fun. Frustrated at times, but rare to see him like this. You can see him replaying it in his head and thinking about everything that could've happened. Glad he only messed his wrist up a bit. Most riders that crash leave in a helicopter heading to the hospital. So I say it was a pretty good day. Hope he bought a lotto ticket after this lol
Once you experience something like that you loose the momentum to win you will always be that little bit more cautious than you were it's like getting older you value your life and stop taking chances that put you in first place. Glad to see guys still standing and walked away from what could have been life threatening.
Who could Blane him for being scared, the bike was completly out of his control ,a mechanical fault, that you can do absolutely nothing about. Lucky he wasn't killed. He was gaining speed where he should have been able to slow the bike. Even on a push bike,if your brakes failed you would feel fear you would be a fool if you didnt
The English are crazy haha, they love this stuff. Well, I as an American love watching it so... Glad the English wolverine is alright. Have a bit of a problem with his accent, not sure if it was engine breaking or gearbox problems?
So glad he is done with this,i heard him say that at least 100 times "it will come" but it didn't.had all the talent in the world just couldn't put everything All together on the same day,he definitely rode well enough just seemed like he was jinxed somehow, don't think that i was not a fan, still one of my favorites to do it,,stood on podium few times just not top step, I wanted to smash everything in the house when they took the 30 seconds from him, hero ,legand id like to meet him for sure
Even though he didn't win, the man is still a legend. Hopefully he still has many years left on earth with us, but you know his sideburns will end up on the wall in the TT hall of fame :D
Warning shots. I wouldn't be upset if Guy packs it in and calls it a day, he's a great rider and achieved a lot gaining a huge level of respect. We all wish him well and hope his wrist heals. Worrying about the gearbox issue on a rock solid Honda.... Why did it fail?
RevvedUpBiker He will always be a legend but he has gotten away with several near misses, I don't think he will quit but I hope his luck with not being seriously hurt stays
right at the beginning 'something not right there...' ....I know there's a lot going on in this video and this is probably the least important, however, that commentator was on top of it and was able to keep the audience as up to speed as he did. well done, sir.
What a boy, absolute ledgend! So glad he's ok, never seen Guy like this before though, must have been a bad one!!!!!....... P.s. Guy for Prime Minister!!
Great to see he is OK as it could have been much worse. HRC has a-lot of explaining and work to do. He looked shaken up (as you would). I would hate to see him injured or worse on what is looking like a poorly suited motorcycle. A "box of neutrals" at this stage should not be occurring. Serious consideration should be given to not riding it again. Contract or not, his life is worth more. Much respect to Mr. Guy Martin.
Gabriel Johannson yes HRC needs to take a serious look at themselves, as despite the WSBK and BSB bikes being crap and this bike jamming the throttle on and flinging Guy off at Tandragee and McPint off in the NW200, they have had the temerity to hint at the issues being rider error in press releases surrounding this latest incident. The bike is obviously not right - Guy is a previous TT lap record holder and a multiple winner of other major road races, whilst McPint is the man around the island, so if they both struggle on it, what rider does HRC expect to cope with it? Pack up, go home and just accept the bad press with good grace Honda - stop trying to save face and admit you dropped a bollock.
Chance Hooper remember Casey stoner got a stuck throttle at 120 mph on the Honda at the 24 hour in Japan. He literally had to lay the bike down.Honda took months to admit it was a fault and not stoner.Looks like they are still having issues.
Bluemts Expose definitely. To suggest Guy is bottling it when he was happy to race a bike he knew had a turbo problem at Pikes Peak and get a class win, or to laugh off a 200mph+ crash in a streamlined or break a Wall Of Death record whilst literally blacking out at 80mph+ is not the sign of a coward: that bike is, as he said, a Jonah and HRC are unlikely to fix it in three days, so he'd be wise to leave the Senior TT and come back with it next year, if at all. I strongly doubt he'd ride for Honda again, nor McGuinness for that matter. Interestingly, in his first book he talks about the last time he rode for a big Honda team and even back then, when the bike had issues they just denied any problems - he ended up using his own parts and rebuilding it himself, I believe.
Given that this bike was in fourth gear at least, it cannot be a case of missing second and hitting neutral, meaning a bike with a quickshifter and auto-blipper missed the clutch timing and caused the selector to skip. Assuming nothing had broken (which according to HRC, it hadn't), it means that despite switching the ecu to a motel after their own unit kept jam,img the throttle open, HRC have failed to replicate functionality available as an optional extra on most showroom superbikes. What the hell happened at Honda? Between this and their awful F1 engine, they are torpedoing their reputation for engineering very quickly.
HRC isn't even involved in the racing at IOM, WSBK, and BSB. They have consultants. Honda in fact hasn't been supporting those teams since 2003. These are modifications performed outside of Honda's control.
Nowadays you don’t see stuff like this ! Raw and crazy ! Now people would get PTSD lol… Guy is a freaking legend mate 🫵🏼🙏👑👑❤️❤️❤️… I’m Glad he’s safe after all
Guy, please just consider the future after this, your still a young fella their are plenty of other challenges out there for you......however hard just walk away, TT or not you are still a legend !!
I think HRC should pull out the 2017 Honda Fireblade SP2 from the Isle of Man TT before it does more damage to Guy Martin and their reputation! :( The bike was known to have electrical issues & it took out John McGuinness at the North West 200 due to a suspected stuck throttle to which Honda said they can't determine the real reason since ECU was banged about in the crash (seriously??!!) Guy was really lucky not to damage himself like McGuinness who badly broke his tibia, damaged his ribs & lungs. Fireblade once was the most consistent, reliable & dominant machines in road racing, but sadly the new model doesn't seem to have undergone rigorous development & testing... :/
For Friday's race they are going to use john's bike. Guy's bike has been kept to the side. John's bike has been taken apart and they are putting in a BSB engine with BSB electronics on it. The suspension will be the road racing suspension they used last year on the 2016 bike. So they are going to essentially use a completely different bike from the one they bought for IOM TT.
Honda should wake up and get their act together. F1: Honda engines blow up Indycar: Honda engines blow up WSBK: bikes get delivered 1 month before the seasons starts MotoGP: poor performance IOM: McGuiness and Martin both crash. McGuiness probably throttle got stuck and now maybe a false neutral for Martin.
Honda has serious issues. Casey Stoner walked away from them after a stuck throttle at Suzuka. McGuinness gets injured big time with a suspected stuck throttle and now this?!
this is were you see Guy proper shaken , he is a proper racer, we miss him out there racing, those battles with MD , LEGEND We see why you stopped, you and McPint got seriously damaged on that Bike since those times, Honda has missed the boat a little Guy Respect bud, True Racer
John's crash was an ECU failure. He shifted down but the throttle of the bike kept increasing beyond his control. But the fact remains that Honda damn near killed 2 race legends in a month on the same bike that wasn't ready.
@@agentofenhanced2428 . John and guy both left Honda. Imo there's your answer. Even in this interview guy is angry with Honda, doesn't want to say anything until the interviewer pulls it out of him.

Guy, you're my favorite rider and I'm glad you're still with us. Take care of yourself. Hope to see you at it again this year. Cheers from Texas.
Boy's got an angel on his shoulder
So glad this didn't end like it could have
Get well soon, Guy!
If you do some freeze frames of Guy being interviewed, you can see in his eyes, that his tolerance for risk and his relationship with mortality is different. Dead man walking comes to mind. Respect to him.
It's like @Gornik LecznaMan said, he was expecting a baby in just a few months. That usually put things into perspective..
It's just great that both riders are still with us. John and Guy we love you both keep your heads up boys 🖒🖒🖒🖒🖒
Wow, 140mph and he made a split second decision to dump the bike, it just shows the speed at which these riders react and how much they really are living on the edge, especially when there is nowhere to go to run off, as like they would on a proper race track.
andrewallison70 honestly i think he fell off ..
He had not choice, no 1 rule when bike riding is, if it goes wrong get away from the bike
You're a legend Guy, although anyone that races the TT has my utmost respect, I can't think of anyone that deserves the Senior win more.
Top bloke! took better than most!! And agree with Guy, that after the John incident that bike needs time or something else?
I definitely agree
Well said, Guy is a good bloke..
The Berean you know him?
It needs too go back too what worked up to last year
He's a man who knows you don't generally walk away from a high speed crash on the Isle of man. I think the fact he survived it was the thing that shocked him the most.
And it was his second big one too. He more than anyone knows that you don't get a 3rd go...
Guy Martin is a legend, so glad he was not badly hurt. The man always gives 100% in everything he does 🇬🇧🥇👏
unfortunately he has been with another crash in the NW200 and this one was a career ender. with BMW this time. but it was his own fault. massive high side at high speed and broke his back badly. really lucky he didn't stay crippled.
I've watched Guy race since 2004. every interview he's ever done pre race and post race, is at a hundred miles an hour. I've never seen so gobsmacked after a race crash. he's one lucky boy. really surprised Honda can't sort their bike out.
He can't say what he really wants to say...
such a real guy! gutted for him but so happy he's still with us.
That’s a tough spot to be in: riding a shit bike while wearing Honda and being asked who to blame....
Nicky Borrosino so is Honda shit ... no
@@nickkolowinski3331 that bike was dogshit and neither him or mcguinness should have gone anywhere near it.
@@t8283287 but why how can you be so sure
@@nicknotadick3027 did you watch the same video i did where the Honda failed? idiot.
@@nicknotadick3027 Because Honda themselves admitted that a fault in the bike's software caused the McGuinness crash at the NW200. The ECU incorrectly auto blipped the throttle.
Guy Martin is the most real and chill dudes ever. That's a fact.
obviously Guy is really annoyed... but it looks he can't say much... anyway, the most important is his health...
francois P. And his new tea stained clean teeth 😬
He was just short of swearing at Honda ... lol.. Guy is such a character
Can't say much if are dead either
my dad always said bikes can be mended people can not
To nice of a guy to kick off but he knows deep down the gear boxes are shit
I’ve been searching out rare Guy Martin videos for years and just found this one. Commenting to maybe help the algorithm. Never seen Guy this shook.
Same false neutral happened to me when I was testing the 2017 Fireblade SP on a racetrack... fortunately I had a room for escape and didn't crash out
Never seen him like that. All the best Guy and if it doesn't feel right don't try to force yourself to carry on going. You've proved yourself over and over again, sometimes you just have to hang it up and move on.
powerful interview right there. short as it was, you could feel his emotion through the screen.
felt like a kick in the guts but enjoyed the watch anyway
Lucky man, i lost a good friend at last years TT after a crash and you can tell from Guys face he knows he has been extremely lucky!
More than being scared he seems furious. Gotta love him for what and how he is!!!
One of the most down to earth, honest guys, anyone would be lucky to know, he knows what he loves, he loves what he knows, i have nothing but total respect for people like guy, i don't believe in hero's but if i did he would be one of the best. respect to you guy
#mytwocents
Waiting for the "big stop..." That's where it ends. Whew! I was scared shitless when I heard that engine go quiet.
One of the most honest and straight to the point rider out there great personality
"A box full of neutrals" is now my favourite term. Good to see Guy is alright (albeit shaken up).
that may be the first time for that phrase.
No
where was that phrase used before??
@@rearspeaker6364 To describe politicians?
@@themagicrat8803 must be a UK thing, don't know.....
deeply raw this is, you can tell how emotional and shook up he is, ride safe boys
First time I have seen this legend spooked. More anger than anything I think. True legend on two wheels.
I know how he feels. He’s reliving it over and over agin in this interview
Once you experience something like that you loose the momentum to win you will always be that little bit more cautious than you were it's like getting older you value your life and stop taking chances that put you in first place. Glad to see guys still standing and walked away from what could have been life threatening.
shit that's a serious interview , so glad your still alive and ok .
Got to love Guys way just to say it how it is and how he sees it, no sugar coating, just this is it take it or leave it, what a legend
wow,
So glad you walked away from that one Guy,. so sorry mate, God bless you. !
Glad you still here Guy !
Honda team are very very lucky !
The English are crazy haha, they love this stuff. Well, I as an American love watching it so...
Glad the English wolverine is alright.
Have a bit of a problem with his accent, not sure if it was engine breaking or gearbox problems?
If I understood him correctly he couldn't get a gear in, it always went to neutral... therefore no engine breaking capabilities.
Got a false neutral going like 140 mph and couldnt use engine breaking so he had to bail off.
"First I bermed the curb, then the wall, then......"
@Da Ca: One thing Guy Martin doesn't do is ramble nonsense, I & many others can understand him perfectly !
Well well aren't you a cheery fucker, do you insult everyone that disagrees with you.
Rogent X either that or a wall in someone's garden
I see what you did there :D
legend,I think not,no tt wins(or nw I think)all the tt winers that get no mention,I dont get it,neither does mick dunlop(read his book)
😂
So glad your in one piece Guy. Give up racing & continue making some of the best programs on ever on TV 👍
Next year man, i dunno why but when i first saw the TT I had high hopes for Guy Martin. I bet he's got something special for 2018. Best of luck
To quote Guy MARTIN is goes tarmac, sky, tarmac, sky tarmac, ambulance.glad he’s finished with it he’s a great lad and very brave 🏁
good Luck guy!!!
Nowadays you don’t see stuff like this ! Raw and crazy ! Now people would get PTSD lol… Guy is a freaking legend mate 🫵🏼🙏👑👑❤️❤️❤️… I’m
Glad he’s safe after all
He is still in shock
Guy, please just consider the future after this, your still a young fella their are plenty of other challenges out there for you......however hard just walk away, TT or not you are still a legend !!
I never know what tf this dude is saying but I love him anyway. Great rider and all around dude.
fire1937 ikr!
I got emotional watching this.Anyone who's lost someone to bikes knows how serious that was and none more so than Guy himself .
F1: Honda engines blow up
Indycar: Honda engines blow up
WSBK: bikes get delivered 1 month before the seasons starts
MotoGP: poor performance
IOM: McGuiness and Martin both crash. McGuiness probably throttle got stuck and now maybe a false neutral for Martin.
wasnt stoner riding a honda too when his throttle got fucked?
Bostin Aycock yes, at Suzuka 8 hours race. Initially Honda later apologized to Stoner for the machine error!
Srinjay Sarma that's good to know. Hopefully it should last the race distance without incident!
So happy this man finds ways to bounce. Man's a living legend.
Honda has serious issues. Casey Stoner walked away from them after a stuck throttle at Suzuka. McGuinness gets injured big time with a suspected stuck throttle and now this?!
this is were you see Guy proper shaken , he is a proper racer, we miss him out there racing, those battles with MD , LEGEND
We see why you stopped, you and McPint got seriously damaged on that Bike
since those times, Honda has missed the boat a little
Guy Respect bud, True Racer
Wait... Isn't this exactly what also happened to John Guinness on the Honda motorbike? 🤔
Damian De no
John's crash was an ECU failure. He shifted down but the throttle of the bike kept increasing beyond his control.
But the fact remains that Honda damn near killed 2 race legends in a month on the same bike that wasn't ready.
tiny not so sure about that fella mechanical shit happens
@@tiny456987 the question is: are these very very rare FLUKES or is honda 100% to blame for this.
@@agentofenhanced2428 . John and guy both left Honda. Imo there's your answer. Even in this interview guy is angry with Honda, doesn't want to say anything until the interviewer pulls it out of him.
I'm so so happy he's alive we need people like him
Ive seen him do some crazy shit on videos and what not, but Ive never seen him that shaken by something like this. Not gettin any younger there Guy, keep the shiny side up.

Mon pilote préféré du TT ...j'adore ce pilote, charismatique, de caractère fort, etc...Respect de la Belgique !
Having experienced pretty much the same thing at the same speeds, I can tell you the 30 or so seconds of sliding felt like 3 minutes. Literally had time to think about what i needed to do.
One thing I will say to anyone who finds themselves doing this, have a drink and sit your ass down. The adrenaline won't wear off for a few minutes, if you're not sat down when that happens you'll likely end up passed out. If you do have broken bones you won't feel it until it wears off.
Dave ffs - how fast was he going when he crashed?
@@jasonjackson5696 140ish into that bend, might have taken 20mph off before he hit the curb if he was lucky
How can you not like this man

It's not often that Guy is lost for words, that (understandably) shook him right up.
That Honda should be scrapped and forgotten! Glad Guy is allright!
Honda may have wrecked two good riders in one year.. how would these guys get back on with any confidence after these two failures???? GARBAGE
so glad he's okay...love that guy...totally brilliant bloke
Guy, walk away. Stay safe
