I think Daredevil: Born Again would be a close second for pure nostalgia with another exceptional creative team. If I was going to nominate a lesser title, that, I loved in the 80s, which probably wouldn't hold up to me reading it now, would be Batman & the Outsiders.
@@jumu446 I almost put the Frank Miller DD run on my list and Born Again in particular is such a gem! 👏 And I’ve never read Batman and the Outsiders but I have heard good things 🤷🏻♂️
@@TheComicBookReportBack then not every book got translated. I mostly read the Michelinie run of Spider-man, the leather jacket era of the avengers, the death en return of superman and the knightfall era of Batman.
Some great choices here. I love Ultimates - it brought me back into comics after about 15 years away. I also recently flew thru DD Marvel Knights Omni. Really enjoyed it. I read vols 1&2 of Morning Glories but as you implied, it was getting convoluted and as I k ew there was no conclusion, I bailed. Looks lovely though. ASM & FF obvious classics. I’d have Uncanny Omni 2 in here for Dark Phoenix saga. That’s the nostalgia-fest for me
Nostalgia reads: 1) Badger by Baron and Reinhold. 2) Steel by Priest and Cowan 3) Defenders omnibus 1 4) Quantum and Woody by Priest and Bright. 5) Shadowman by Bob Hall 6) Squadron Supreme by Grunewald, Hall, and Ryan. 7) John Sable Freelance by Mike Grell 8) Elf Quest by wendi and Richard Pini
@@TheComicBookReport You want to start with JS Freelance, that's the Mike Grell series. Available in trades from IDW. These can be got relatively cheaply secondhand.
Fun idea for a video! I’d have Captain America by Ed Brubaker, Daredevil by Bendis, Infinite Crisis, and then I’d share with you Death of Superman and Ultimate Spider-Man. All huge parts of my earliest comic reading
Here's one I guarantee no one's heard of: Wilderness, by Tim Truman. It's a biographical story about Simon Girty, an American frontiersman and renegade. He was captured as a child and raised by natives. When a treaty forced the return of all prisoners, Girty was sent back to the colonies, where he didn't fit in. He remained close with the nation that had captured him and worked as a scout for the British, and colonial militias. He identified more with the natives who raised him than the colonists and fought for the British during the American Revolution. He spent the rest of his life on the run or in exile. Great story. Fantastic art. It's based on a biography of Girty by Phillip Hoffman - also a spectacular read. This is nostalgic for me because I found my copy in a used book store 35 years ago. It was 2 volumes in a slip case, and came with a signed print. It was my first exposure to Tim Truman, who would become one of my favorite writers and artists, and one of my earliest encounters with comics that weren't super heroes or from the big two. Changed my perspective on sequential storytelling, and changed my life.
Oh my…..!!!! I liked Kevin Smith’s daredevil run but the intro by Affleck would immediately make me not pick this edition… one of the worse actors on the universe (or universes I guess).. he destroyed Daredevil and then some genius cast him for Batman… 😢😮
What are some of your favorite comics that make you feel nostalgic?
New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, is ultimate nostalgia for me!
@@jumu446 oh that’s a fantastic choice! That could’ve made my list as well 💪📚

Yeah they are definitely all stories that have stayed with me! I’m glad others have enjoyed them as well :) 📚📚📚
My nostalgia read’s are mostly 80’s and 90’s comic. Back then I read the Dutch translations and I like to read those stories now in original english.
Oh wonderful! 👏
Any specific books that come to mind? 📚

I personally like Affleck but Charlie Cox is an INCREDIBLE Daredevil! Did you watch that Netflix show?

Charlie Coz was great, and the series save the character after Affleck
