We haven't regretted buying residential property in the province (has gone up in value) and helping the younger nephews and nieces through high school and college - they have flourished and will eventually go abroad. Helping my wife's brothers with micro businesses has not worked out so well. My 2k soc sec, would only work for me here, if I sold my home and moved into someone elses house, renting a room from them for $650/m...the local going rate for renting a bedroom.

Good info, Rod. Don't know where the Philippine government comes up with 8.5% inflation. Realistically, I'm seeing more like 30%. IE, we're paying 15.7 pesos per kilowatt hour from the local power company here in Mindanao, up 40% from one year ago.

We don't know much about pesos. We can't relate to it. We constantly have to do calculations. Its cumbersome. I don't listen with a focus because of the peso thing on prices. It would be helpful if you use USD when you talk about costs. T4TV
I understand M S. I have had expats from many other nations state they are annoyed by me talking in US dollars. It took me some time to relate to pesos while here also. The other issue is the exchange rate has changed and will change so the conversion become obsolete.

You got to be crazy to buy a condo here to cheaply made electric bill is bad as back in America you'll be shocked 10-13 thousand pesos a month most people are gonna run there air con most the majority of the time
That's about what we're paying to run one aircon 24/7 in my office. Another air con maybe 6 hours a day. Btw, that's well over $200 USD for a small house.

75 to 100 is a 33% increase.
Any onions on Cebu?
Prices dropped by 1/3 for onions here in CamSur. Was thinking of growing my own.
Still pretty high here in Northern Mindanao. Price yesterday yet 600 PHP per kilo.
Did you hear about the Filipino bride who walk down the aisle with a bouquet of onions - lol. No joke, only in the Philippines!
We have onions but very expensive. Some imports are just arriving . 2 onions, 400 pesos a couple of weeks ago Kenny.
Rule # 1 - Don't ride 4(plus a pig) on a scooter.🤣
LOL! Thanks Daniel!
It's fair to assume blogger's talking about cost of living are offering the info to the biggest pop going to PI, Americans. Yet I, we always hear bloggers using the costs of living using Pesos.
Your money goes a little farther here but not much this isn't the 80s no more
Good point and it will probably keep getting more expensive, but there are options here Jerry.
im in sydeny, i reckon it will still feel like 80s compared to this police state lol still, ill be careful wat i spend there, n i eat cheap. as my grandpa used to say, stay away from poor women if you like to eat. and so i will lol im no sucker lol wana go for the motorbike rides n boat rides, marine life etc
I'm afraid today the Philippines ain't cheap if you ain't got much money.
You have retirement visa?
I have a 9g visa Marc.
Rod, I just thought you were tripping or me. Lol
LOL!
Aug 2023 Philippines inflation rate is %4.7
Official "rates" of inflation and unemployment are often not very close to reality for many unfortunately.
@@LtDave I live here myself electric is ruff now it will surprise you at the cost of it
PHILIPPINES CURRENCY IS WORTHLESS 🇵🇭
Thanks for the Info Milton Friedman
