Felicity it’s interesting. I don’t know if you follow the channel but they are incredibly good trainers. Jamie is the first to hold her hands up if she made mistakes. She rehabilitates problem birds and has shown over and again the success tmw he has with working with them. This video for instance, shows an incredibly scared parrot. If you watched all the way through you would know the. It’s has exhibited fear for the 8 years previous. Jamie’s sole intention is to rehabilitate the bird so it can go to a good home. If she waited until the bird came out on its own, regardless of time, she is eventually giving the bird the message that fear is ok. She has to help it overcome the fear and after allowing a long time for it to come out alone, she helps it. As soon as the bird is out the cage, it willingly climbs into her arm and sees her as a safe place. So much so that she has to work with it to get it off her arm. She’s a very good trainer.
I wonder if after he’s settled or doing something new, petting his head is a MAJOR REWARD. Breaks my heart to see any creature that Terrified. I wonder why?

She’s constantly stressed, plucking her feathers, she hates the Dad, poor girl needs a better home. The Mom knows she’s not happy, but is terrified whoever she gives Angie to will abuse her. Oof, that's not a conversation that I'd want to have to tackle - convincing your in-laws that they can't take proper care of their pet, and should give it up - good luck with that, lol. :-)
You'd probably have more success using this channel to educate your in-laws as to what changes they could make to the bird's environment that would improve its quality of life. No matter justified it is, or how gently you try and break it to your MIL that she can't provide the home the bird needs, she's gonna take it badly. Probably as a negative reflection on her, maybe even an insult. That's not gonna make her receptive to your advice. People get incredibly defensive about their relationships with their pets. Even when there's a glaringly obvious fault on the part of the owner (which is the true cause of 99% of 'problem pets') getting the owner to recognise that the problem lies with THEIR behaviour, and not the pet's, is the key battle which most of these animal whisperer types have to win to solve the problem. If your MIL loves the bird as much as you say, surely she'd be willing to make some improvements to the bird's life, which stop short of giving it up? That MIGHT be the ideal solution for the bird (even with the added stress of relocation), but it's hardly ideal for your MIL, which makes it less likely to be achievable.

Have you considered a harness?
S-so it’s okay to hold their legs? I did that with my cockatiel because he is a scaredy bird but I thought I was hurting him so I stopped 🥺
You need to desensitize your bird. Slowly and kindly but it’ll make a whole world of difference and make your bird more confident.
I always cry when it involves animals, they are so independent from us.❤️
Bean trusted you so quickly!!! I feel so sorry for him being so scared, but look how he accepted some new challenges today!!! You certainly have a gift!!!
Omgoodness, you are such a very kind woman! I’m glad for people like you to love and nurture these sweet birds. Thank you!
I'm already in love with Bean.💖 There is just a sweet soul in there. My dream bird is a Grey... and I hope to adopt... so watching you work through these issues is great.
Poor baby; he’s not led a secure life until he met this caregiver; everything is scary for him. Lots of luck, and bless you for working with him….at HIS pace.
6:15 eye pinning in fast forward. He's enjoying snack time!
@@margaretlavender4418 It means the bird has intense interest in what he's looking at or in what he is experiencing. Sometimes they eye pin at a friend or mate.
@@margaretlavender4418 literally, it means their pupils narrow to a pinpoint. usually an expression of interest, pleasure, or curiosity... but it can also mean a strong DISpleasure with something. if you're still getting to know a bird, it might be a sign they're about to attack.
@@tzxazrael Agreed. When my Smokey's eyes pin it almost always means I need to get my fingers out of the general vicinity quickly.
Wow, I do not have birds but the way you worked with him is amazing and the fact you refused to be a fear crutch. I never thought of it that way but that's 10000% it! I hope Bean is doing okay.
Poor lil thing. Never know what these animals go thru. I'm so happy hes with you. Yiu seem so patient and gentle. Hang n there are 🙏🙏🙏❤
So sweet! What a lucky little bird! Thank goodness he found his guardian angel!
As a bird owner, I love watching the progress with the birds ( I've also bought many of the toys on your website. My birds love them)
Thanks so much!
You are an awesome bird whisperer. I am going to watch Mr Bean's journey with you. He's so sweet
7:08 look at that messy beak! 🥰 Bean is so precious❤️
At least the bird knows you are a safe place.
His panting breaks my heart
I know mane 😭. Give me a hug. No homo 😭.
idiot holding his foot then saying he cannot fly. creep bird abuser
@@redrumax you are mean but I do understand, I twisted my bird leg because something scared her and flied.
@@redrumax I don't think you can hold on to this guy's foot with 1 thumb
@@redrumax you know how bird training works?
He's beautiful...I love him.. never let him go. So many are made to leave the people they love and it devastates them for life...like a child.. you never abandon them...
Good luck!! Bean is so cute, I’m so glad that he is being treated with such patience and kindness even though you are only fostering him. Usually foster parents aren’t ever as educated, dedicated, or gentle as you. You’re an amazing person, god bless you
The best things about your content is I learn so much and never need to own a captive bird. I never will add to the suffering and I can watch you perform miracles. Respect and love
This is EXACTLY my Grey's reaction to wooden perches. I can't wait to see how you handle this so I can help mine.
The poor little guy. Thanx for taking such good care of him!!!!!
My heart! He's so sweet
Never get mad at him... he's just a little bird....love....
I am so impressed with the patience you have shown this beautiful bird. I loved how you included him by giving him bits of vegi's as you were making yourself lunch and by the way you kept right on talking to him in a soft voice. I'm glad there are people like you in the world who have been blessed and gifted to care for these animals. I won't say 'good luck' to you because I think you already have the situation under control. I look forward to your videos. Take care (and give Bean a little scratch on his back for me. LOL)
I’m not a lover of birds but I hate to see any animal in distress, you’re doing amazing work with him, he’s very sweet.
bean is just adorable 🥺💗
Bean is so beautiful 😍 great rewards getting him to trust you... ❤ 😀 your making really great progress w him.. African Grey's love being Social, love attention n they have a great disposition! They're sweet as can be once he warms up to you... He'll b part of the family in no time
Awe poor Beanie! I'm absolutely in love with this little man, he's going to be so extra wonderful once you teach him not everything is potentially bad... He's just such a lovely little goober!!! 💙
Our Eccie is kind of the same way.... Her breeder wasn't the best and she was terrified of everything when I met her two years ago. She's much better now and we've bonded enough that now when she is scared of something, I can typically show her it's fine just by interacting with it myself. She'll forget she's scared of anything if I somehow involve it with me eating, but really it's all about controlling the environment. I hope Mr. Bean Bob Sponge Butt does well! He already seems to love you which looks like it's making him more eager!
You have the patience of a saint! God bless you for working with this beautiful creature.
She’s smart. I wouldn’t have thought to take my sweater off like that 😂
Kindness to animals is a virtue. Good on you!
“Can I have my sweater back” bean, “uhhh nope” he’ll be amazing and will look great with the babies
Bean is a beautiful Congo african grey. And is becoming not so afraid of everything.
birds a paid actor
lol!
Sweet baby! He's probably missing his family. At least he trusts you, and steps up without biting. Good job!
