I don't understand how people can not like him!! Even when he's not saying anything particularly funny, he's just so odd and quirky and charming that I find it impossible not to smile when I'm watching him.
"I believe you- thousands wouldn't" has been a common phrase in Britain since the nineteenth or twentieth century. 'indicative either of friendship victorious over incredulity or tactfully implying that the addressee is a liar.' In the US it has apparently become "there are millions who wouldn't" and there's even an equivalent phrase in French. It is definitely "thousands wouldn't."
his best work so far, simply brilliant standup from a future great at his best. Give it 30 years and people will speak about him like they do so affectionatly for the late Bill Hicks
please dont listen to people who dont even know russell Brand personally. Sick of all that nonsense. i thnk he is a good man and i wouldnt say he is different...he is ...HIMSELF. and more people need to be themselves so others can understand people like russell Brand. so I THINK....he's a good guy :D funny too. what i mean is.....BE YOURSELF AAAND....LOVE IT :D
I find it amazing how some of my friends don't like his jokes cause of the language. However, he is QUITE intelligent and his jokes make me even more happy for that fact.
Haha thanks, mate. I'm not too concerned about him winning over my country, though. The fact that he has been met with such tirelessly explosive controversy is murderously humorous in itself. This shows the world how stiff & woefully sensitive most Americans are. It's hilarious how the offence they took from Russell's comedy turned into burning abhorrence so quickly. The furor surrounding Russell's comments makes me feel as though I live in China or Russia - "free speech only when we agree."
I happen to have a "thing" for Russell- nuff said - I LOVE his current hair- Rumble- but this daring do is unbef'ingleavibull! And the props! And those VERY GONADISTIC jeans- woo hoo yes!!! and he's funny too. Miss Golightly
The number of times i've watched this show and only just noticed Noel Gallagher is sitting there at 4:30. I think the only person who could eclipse someone like Noel is Russel. Gotta love him
@TalesFromTheKeyboard. You really gotta broaden your stand-up horizon if you think Carlin was a "bad" act. You might disagree with his points but his way of delivering those points were perfect.
@skateHYPE He was famous well before Katy Perry was famous. He is a columnist for the Guardian writing about sport in a comedic sense :) But, now he's in films and such :)
This sketch reminds me of the film 'In and Out' especially the scene where the main character is playing an audio tape teaching him how to be a 'man' and also where the reporter at the end admits to being gay and that when he came out of the closet he was then free to speak with good pronunciation.
the phrase is 'I believe you, thousands wouldn't'. It means that although any sensible person would not believe you ... I would. It's a light joke, and is DEFINTELY thousands wouldn't.
I know, we all do. Look on the bright side, Russell's got a film coming out in a while, he'll probably do another series of ponderland and he's still touring and so are boosh. I understand though, it's like and end of an era, like when the libertines split up, well, when Pete got chucked out.
Carlin was probably the best ever, no question and you're right - Brand doesn't come close. My point is there is a strong focus in many of his gigs on analysising popular culture and language. In that sense there is a comparison to be made but I doubt Brand will be able to flex and turn this character into something with that longevity. Having said that, in the early days Carlin was one-liner-merchant and changed. Without the 60s/70s as a catalyst though, it's unlikely Brand can do so
which show is this, I know it says shame, but he did he did a show in 2006 called live, another a year later called doing life, scandalous at the O2 arena in 2009 which I've seen, live in new York which I've seen, and the messiah complex which was pure genius!
@joshcarr777 You're correct. I got bollixed up, as I had intended to write "You are aware... ... are you not?" An understandable, yet regrettable, error. I shall abdicate the Vocabulary Queen crown at once.
I'm so in love with him!
His looks, his way of speaking, his whole charisma, I JUST LOVE IT!!
Having loved him so long now what do you think of his transition?
@@gratefuldoge8598 Lol. Right? I loved him too 15 years ago.
@@gratefuldoge8598what happened?
He's changed so much
Russell has been behaving like this long before Pirates of Carribbean came along.
I don't understand how people can not like him!! Even when he's not saying anything particularly funny, he's just so odd and quirky and charming that I find it impossible not to smile when I'm watching him.
That exactly how I felt about him 11 years ago when you wrote this comment. My opinion of him over the years has steadily declined.
@PaulTheSkeptic I find it the opposite.
@@PaulTheSkeptic He was always a prick. It's just taken a long time for people to see it.
I'VE WATCHED THIS 7 TIMES IN SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON THIS PLANET AND NEVER GET TIRED OF THIS BLOKE :P
It's nice to see a comedian making fun of themselves for a change rather than anyone else.
Lewis CK... 🤷♂

I'm from the US and understand him clearly...and ADORE him! He's one of the smartest comedians in every way. Love him and love Demitri Martin.
I'm from America and have loved Russell for years now, he was great last night at the VMA's, everyone needs to learn what comedy is, it seems
A SMART and fantastically energetic performance. I adore his work.
his best work so far, simply brilliant standup from a future great at his best. Give it 30 years and people will speak about him like they do so affectionatly for the late Bill Hicks

It's probably my hundredth time watching Shame all over again. And it's STILL funny.
I find it amazing how some of my friends don't like his jokes cause of the language. However, he is QUITE intelligent and his jokes make me even more happy for that fact.

4:25 Noel Gallagher in the audience!!!!
The number of times i've watched this show and only just noticed Noel Gallagher is sitting there at 4:30. I think the only person who could eclipse someone like Noel is Russel. Gotta love him
Scary games are the greatest. I wish more people knew about pooping themselves. Gotta spread the good word.
Man Russel has changed a lot but still is nice over a decade later
Americans tends to dominate stand up (by a lot) but the British have definitely put their mark on comedy, I personally like the style.
:) He is!
He's one of my favorite comedians. I have many.
@TalesFromTheKeyboard. You really gotta broaden your stand-up horizon if you think Carlin was a "bad" act. You might disagree with his points but his way of delivering those points were perfect.
Nomen clatchure is a method used by chamists to name various compounds using the periodical table.

OMG I totally agree!!! I love Russell and Tim by far my favorite comedians. XD
I love his hair!
I kept waiting for the funny bit... and waiting... and waiting...
the phrase is 'I believe you, thousands wouldn't'. It means that although any sensible person would not believe you ... I would. It's a light joke, and is DEFINTELY thousands wouldn't.
If you don't like it/him, don't watch it/him.
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything.
Personally, I think he's brilliant and I watch him.
i dont know wy but he should of been a character in Harry potter
"yuuuuhuuuu!!....thats my bag" lol i love russell
He is now my favorite comedian. :D
Love it!!
Too bad some people can't understand it because he uses "big words". Lol
He's very unique and obviously very secure with who he is.
i love him ..

@rosakop1 Thanks for the info. Amazing that two countries that speak the same language can have such different slang.
@JakeSCANDALS it's "The last international playboys" by Morrissey, I believe.
I'm thinkin', I've gotta collect that bag in a minite!
LMFAO
i love russell
When he was impersonating a ''proper man'' I was laughing so fucking hard
Ray Winstone's impression just slayed me
I adore his command of English. It just shows that there is nothing wrong with being a bit on the verbose side.
This is prob his best stand up!
I think he's amazing! I love his comedy!
omg he mentions chomsky! i am so impressed

Good comment, I agree entirely. I also hope Russell will win over your country, but he has also been a love him or hate him kind of guy.
haha he was at Disneyland yesterday, and my friend got a picture with him!
