They made thor weak because if thor was as strong as he was in infinity war then he could have destroyed Thanos without help of iron man and Captain America so endgame would have never happened.
Sure thanos could be him in hand to hand combat but if IW Thor was there he would just do is lightning jump and half of thanos army is dead. From there he would just shoot thanos with lightning and cut off the head this time

I agree 1000% Hulk should have had some sort of redemption in End Game. I get having Hulk get beat up before but in End Game they should have had a angrier stronger version of the Hulk save Cap, Thor, and Iron Man. Maybe not beat Thanos but give him a good beating. Every shot he took in endgame was for the head, proving that Endgame Thor has the best mindset. He has the full Lightning powers of himself, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker and he’s just as agile as Infinity War Thor. Endgame Thor is the most powerful Thor(at least before Thor love and thunder, haven’t seen it yet)

Thor aint just a depressed fat. He shoulders the blame on failing to save the entire universe. He’s the only one who’s powerful enough to stop Thanos and failed to do so due to just one slight mistake which is not aiming for the head. In fact, Thor did a pretty good job keeping himself intact from the immense mental pressure.

one theory i've seen is that Thanos was holding back in Infinity War, but Endgame he didn't need to. i don't quite remember it but it went somewhere along the lines of: Infinity War he only wanted to delete half the universe and wanted to be fair(the genocide "at random" line when talking to Strange), so he only killed when he had to. He wanted to stones to select the ones that died. End Game he wanted to delete everything and rebuild it, so it didn't really matter and didn't need to hold back.

He was weak because of his depression. You said it, he lived for 1500 years. For about 1490 of those years, he lived like a frat boy. Arrogant and prideful without any real hardships. Then in roughly a decade he lost his powers, lost his mother, lost his father, lost his hammer again, learned about his sister then killed her by sacrificing his homeland, lost half his people, lost his best friend, lost his brother, then failed to kill Thanos before he wiped out half of the universe. He was not in the best mind space for a final climactic battle, yet he fought it anyway.

Nah, he was weak, he was still depending on a weapon to summon lightning, he lost stormbreaker, then he had to use thunderbolt. And in the finale battle, he didn't even use his own lightning, he used zeus's from the weapon. In my opinion, the most powerful version of mcu thor so far is in ragnarok, not infinity war and not love and thunder.
Thanos was absolutely going all out in endgame while he didn't want any unnecessary deaths in infinity war because he wanted who died and lived left entirely up to the snap.

The directors literally talked about this. He wasn’t weak and it had nothing to do with hierarchy of power. Thor was strong enough to take on Thanos and beat him, especially with storm breaker and without Thanos having all the stones. The reason he appeared weak was because he had no faith in himself. In his mind he had failed over and over and everyone he loved was dying. He didn’t think he was strong enough but he indeed was. Two other characters also stood against Thanos and were more powerful than him. Marvel and Scarlet Witch. Thanos was outmatched in pure power but he had an army and knew once he had the stones it was over
Both are true. The writers needed to power down Thor a bit, and his story arc is how they went about it. With All Thor has been through leading up to and including Infinity War, it's no wonder he was depressed. I think his character was written well for the most part.

It sounds like you're excusing an error in the writing/logical consistency within the script, by explaining why it was convenient for the writers. Thor turning into a fat depressed sad-sack of shit wasn't just lamn because people didn't like an emasculated pathetic version of Thor, people didn't like it because it makes very little sense for his character to have become that. It's incredably jarring and hard for much of the audience to believe that this 1500 year old warrior alien would devolve into an anxiety-ridden undisciplined goofball when he had the remander of his people to care for. He had already been through 3 movies where his arc was learning that he needed to take responsibility as a leader and not let set-backs destroy his resolve and self confidence. Thor is constantly reset as if he has learned nothing from the experiences in the previous films, like none of it ever happened. The MCU turned what was once a very competent and stalwart character into a complete joke, and even in Thor Love and Thunder he has reverted back to a pathetic caricature of himself. Just an absolute idiot that allows his own hubris and incompetence to put other people in danger. Instead of jaded, battlehardened, seasoned, intellegent warrior that's an awesome specimen of positive masculinity, Thor is now a blubbering, utterly incompetent nervous wreck, all so the writers can insert more jokes every ten minutes with his stupidity as the punchline. Bravo.
I have felt this since Thor Ragnarok. Don’t get me wrong, Ragnarok was amazing. But damnn, it’s just like you said. This character keeps learning lessons, and acquiring or discovering more power and we haven’t gotten to see this growth. His brother died His people died He was just going for the kill. All he had on his mind was revenge and that really made him powerful.
In endgame thanos was angry since he realized that human did not accept his victory by half population wipe out. So in end game thanos was fighting with intention to kill evryone. Whereas, in infinity war his objective was to wipe out half of the population.
Let's paint a scenario where an NBA superstar has been great since he was a rookie and he's in his prime, and he's been practicing srsly since he was like 7yrs old. Then suddenly stops playing for several months, doesn't even workout or touch a basketball for those months, then suddenly plays a game against one of his biggesr rivals who's been practicing consistently, you can't expect that guy to win after months without practicing, even if he has the better legacy
I think the main reason why everyone was getting bodies In endgame by thanos was because he wasn’t holding back, he was out for blood. In infinity war, he only wanted to bring balance to the universe. In endgame, he saw how earth reacted to the snap and saw them unfit to live and wanted to snap them out of existence entirely
The worst part about endgame is right after the bombing, thanks was just sitting there with Thor watching, with six infinity stones thanos didn’t stop his axe(he could have, he just didn’t expect it to get through what he did) so it is so stupid that Thor didn’t just throw the axe at him from where he was and thanos didn’t have his helmet on either. I don’t think that helmet could stop the axe but even if it could he didn’t have it on yet.

Because that's how Thor is normally portrayed against Thanos. Thor around the infinity watch era was in Warriors madness and has the power stone and was beat by Thanos. The same Thanos that tanked a god blast from Odin and sent Galactus flying. One shotting Silver Surfer Beating up on the Avangers on the regular. He has once or twice had a seat at the table with abstracts.
Thor was mentally weak in Endgame this is repeated throughout the movie and it greatly affected his performance. Also gods can manipulate their surrounding and even disguise themselves like when Thor can look like an average Joe' and change into his Asgardian uniform in an instant and how he can make Mjolnir look like an umbrella. Thor felt like a fat loser in his mind and projected it to reality
He wasn't weak. Thanos in Infinity War wasn't even trying to kill anyone. He was going easy because he just wanted the stones and to complete his mission. In Endgame he didn't care anymore and wanted to kill them. Watch the movies back to back and you can see the huge difference.
He wasn't weak he felt like he failed cause his entire race of asgardians died in the hands of Thanos and he vowed to kill him when Thanos told thor he should have aimed for the head it pissed thor off and he let Thanos slip through his hands .
And he couldn't help himself with wanting to give Thanos dialogue while stabbing him with Stormbreaker. Thanos points out not just what he should have done, but how Thor allowed his ego to get in the way of what could have been a clear win. Because of Thor choosing not to land with a killing blow, it cost half of existence. God or not, that would seriously weaken one's resolve. Endgame Thor is a result of survivor's guilt and trauma. He didn't believe himself to be worthy.
People need to understand that both are different thanos especially on power level the one in infinity war is slowly getting weaker remember when hulk used those stone it almost lost he's arm same goes to thanos the more he used those stone the more it gives toll on him while the one in endgame he never used those stone so he's in full power on that time. When characters save high power sets they can trade off wins. Thanos 2018 could of been stronger than Stormbreaker Thor but was caught off guard. In Endgame, this was IFGAF Thanos. He had his battle gear and wasn't concerned about wiping out 50 percent of the population.

one theory i've seen is that Thanos was holding back in Infinity War, but Endgame he didn't need to. i don't quite remember it but it went somewhere along the lines of:
Infinity War he only wanted to delete half the universe and wanted to be fair(the genocide "at random" line when talking to Strange), so he only killed when he had to. He wanted to stones to select the ones that died.
End Game he wanted to delete everything and rebuild it, so it didn't really matter and didn't need to hold back.

They didn't add the gamma crap until Endgame and even then, they also forgot Hulk can ABSORB gamma radiation.

He was weak because of his depression. You said it, he lived for 1500 years. For about 1490 of those years, he lived like a frat boy. Arrogant and prideful without any real hardships. Then in roughly a decade he lost his powers, lost his mother, lost his father, lost his hammer again, learned about his sister then killed her by sacrificing his homeland, lost half his people, lost his best friend, lost his brother, then failed to kill Thanos before he wiped out half of the universe.
He was not in the best mind space for a final climactic battle, yet he fought it anyway.
I do think he’s a lot stronger in love and thunder , he has a more understanding of his power the older he becomes the more powerful he is

Nah, he was weak, he was still depending on a weapon to summon lightning, he lost stormbreaker, then he had to use thunderbolt. And in the finale battle, he didn't even use his own lightning, he used zeus's from the weapon. In my opinion, the most powerful version of mcu thor so far is in ragnarok, not infinity war and not love and thunder.
Thanos was absolutely going all out in endgame while he didn't want any unnecessary deaths in infinity war because he wanted who died and lived left entirely up to the snap.

The directors literally talked about this. He wasn’t weak and it had nothing to do with hierarchy of power. Thor was strong enough to take on Thanos and beat him, especially with storm breaker and without Thanos having all the stones. The reason he appeared weak was because he had no faith in himself. In his mind he had failed over and over and everyone he loved was dying. He didn’t think he was strong enough but he indeed was. Two other characters also stood against Thanos and were more powerful than him. Marvel and Scarlet Witch. Thanos was outmatched in pure power but he had an army and knew once he had the stones it was over

It sounds like you're excusing an error in the writing/logical consistency within the script, by explaining why it was convenient for the writers. Thor turning into a fat depressed sad-sack of shit wasn't just lamn because people didn't like an emasculated pathetic version of Thor, people didn't like it because it makes very little sense for his character to have become that. It's incredably jarring and hard for much of the audience to believe that this 1500 year old warrior alien would devolve into an anxiety-ridden undisciplined goofball when he had the remander of his people to care for. He had already been through 3 movies where his arc was learning that he needed to take responsibility as a leader and not let set-backs destroy his resolve and self confidence.
Thor is constantly reset as if he has learned nothing from the experiences in the previous films, like none of it ever happened. The MCU turned what was once a very competent and stalwart character into a complete joke, and even in Thor Love and Thunder he has reverted back to a pathetic caricature of himself. Just an absolute idiot that allows his own hubris and incompetence to put other people in danger.
Instead of jaded, battlehardened, seasoned, intellegent warrior that's an awesome specimen of positive masculinity, Thor is now a blubbering, utterly incompetent nervous wreck, all so the writers can insert more jokes every ten minutes with his stupidity as the punchline. Bravo.
I have felt this since Thor Ragnarok. Don’t get me wrong, Ragnarok was amazing. But damnn, it’s just like you said. The simplest answer is that Thor was mentally not stable !! Mental strength is really important even for the gods! Remember the fight he had with hella? He was about to lose because he wasn’t sure that he has the power to defeat her. Odin reminded him and the push he got because of his fathers motivation truly unlocked his full potential at that moment!

In endgame thanos was angry since he realized that human did not accept his victory by half population wipe out. So in end game thanos was fighting with intention to kill evryone. Whereas, in infinity war his objective was to wipe out half of the population.
Let's paint a scenario where an NBA superstar has been great since he was a rookie and he's in his prime, and he's been practicing srsly since he was like 7yrs old. Then suddenly stops playing for several months, doesn't even workout or touch a basketball for those months, then suddenly plays a game against one of his biggesr rivals who's been practicing consistently, you can't expect that guy to win after months without practicing, even if he has the better legacy
I think the main reason why everyone was getting bodies In endgame by thanos was because he wasn’t holding back, he was out for blood. In infinity war, he only wanted to bring balance to the universe. In endgame, he saw how earth reacted to the snap and saw them unfit to live and wanted to snap them out of existence entirely
The worst part about endgame is right after the bombing, thanks was just sitting there with Thor watching, with six infinity stones thanos didn’t stop his axe(he could have, he just didn’t expect it to get through what he did) so it is so stupid that Thor didn’t just throw the axe at him from where he was and thanos didn’t have his helmet on either. I don’t think that helmet could stop the axe but even if it could he didn’t have it on yet.

He wasn't weak. Thanos in Infinity War wasn't even trying to kill anyone. He was going easy because he just wanted the stones and to complete his mission. In Endgame he didn't care anymore and wanted to kill them. Watch the movies back to back and you can see the huge difference.

He didn't believe himself to be worthy.

When characters save high power sets they can trade off wins. Thanos 2018 could of been stronger than Stormbreaker Thor but was caught off guard. In Endgame, this was IFGAF Thanos. He had his battle gear and wasn't concerned about wiping out 50 percent of the population.
