In this video I used acrylic and metallic colors but you can use watercolor as well. Take a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/y2_ianOyuoI/v-deo.html for more ideas on what paints to use to color air dry clay.
It took awhile, if I remember correctly about a week. And you don't want to dry outside. Besides bird poo which is super dangerous ;) the work more likely to crack if dried fast. Better to dry slow inside
Yes, I always apply sealer before paint. This way paint applies much smoother, otherwise clay will absorb paint and do it differently based on thickness. To fix colors can apply sealer after painting as well. Thank you for watching the video and asking question!
DAS says that time it takes for clay to dry depends on thickness. If walls of the box half inch (1cm) thick it will take 24 hours to dry. If walls are thicker, will take longer. Hopefully your work is dry by now and you can paint it.
Always dry your clay projects slowly. Cover loosely with plastic and let it sit for few days. And don't use solid objects as armature. Clay shrinks when drying and if armature is not shrinking with it, clay will crack
Very important to select appropriate clay for the project. There are clays that are very fragile when dried. For sculptures I use Laguna Mexo self drying clay. It easy to work with and it strong when dried.
Students will always listen in your classroom. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless!

Thank you! Using real stone as a model helped a lot !
Choosing DAS stone air dry clay was also very helpful, required very little coloring to get desired result
Yes I actually got that same clay from a friend and it really does look like stone
@@sarayeretnov1745 Keep in mind that DAS air dry clay is quite different from regular clay and other air dry clays.
So now I know something I can make for my birthday! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

Thank you very much!
The textures you create look so natural. You definitely have a special talent for it. I wish I had even a small portion of that. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much!
Good
Thank you!
Amazing❤never worked with air dry Clay..can you clean it with wet wipe after painting and drying? Thanks❤
Thank you! If you spray work after completion with sealant, will be no issue with wiping it
О русская, крутое видео
Pls tell if we can use white glue to adhere bulkier pieces together in crafts.
I usually use epoxy. It is much stronger and can be transparent so it is invisible
What kind of paint should I use on DAS clay after dry? Thanks!
In this video I used acrylic and metallic colors but you can use watercolor as well. Take a look at this video ua-cam.com/video/y2_ianOyuoI/v-deo.html for more ideas on what paints to use to color air dry clay.
Can you put DAS clay on foil to save clay or would that not work?
Yes, you can make armature from foil and apply DAS clay on top
Can you mix in acrylic paint with das clay to change its color
You absolutely can mix acrylic paint with clay to tint it. I did it for this project ua-cam.com/video/GSJP2d4qxuc/v-deo.html. Wear gloves!
Had great energy in the video, yeah.
Thank you for your kind words!
are another brand that’s strong when it dries?
Out of the ones I used Laguna Mexo (WC-640 and WC-641) air dry clay is the strongest.
How long does it take to dry if I were to not put it outside(I fear bird poo falling on my creation)?
It took awhile, if I remember correctly about a week. And you don't want to dry outside. Besides bird poo which is super dangerous ;) the work more likely to crack if dried fast. Better to dry slow inside
@@CeramicsOasis Yeah. I agree. And thanks.
Wait, sealer is applied before paint?
Yes, I always apply sealer before paint. This way paint applies much smoother, otherwise clay will absorb paint and do it differently based on thickness. To fix colors can apply sealer after painting as well.
Thank you for watching the video and asking question!
I’ve started working on a sculpture and its kinda a pain at the end and doesnt stick to cardboard
To make clay project to stick to cardboard use hot glue if light or epoxy if heavy
Hi, I used this clay but it didn't dry in the middle is there something I did wrong?
DAS says that time it takes for clay to dry depends on thickness. If walls of the box half inch (1cm) thick it will take 24 hours to dry. If walls are thicker, will take longer. Hopefully your work is dry by now and you can paint it.
@@CeramicsOasis Thank you. it's winter at the moment so maybe when it's summer here it'll dry better. Cheers
Wish I would’ve watched this before I did my project with dry clay .... it all cracked !
Always dry your clay projects slowly. Cover loosely with plastic and let it sit for few days. And don't use solid objects as armature. Clay shrinks when drying and if armature is not shrinking with it, clay will crack
when my scupltures dry they break easily, they’re not strong enough.
Very important to select appropriate clay for the project. There are clays that are very fragile when dried. For sculptures I use Laguna Mexo self drying clay. It easy to work with and it strong when dried.
