I have all 15 editions. I find 15 the most informative. Steven Cooper is a good editor,big addition to the stagf.
The G 1thru 10 is a scale of the quality of the points with G-1 being the lowest, G-10 the highest ... Not many G10s out there... Btw Bob called me out of the blue and asked me to send him pics of just my West Coast stuff ... Broke my heart as my Clovis from AZ is my best ever find ... Here's the video of it ... These books are great, but I have a piece that my dad found back in the 80's and I couldnt find anything that looked familiar with it. It was made of reddish stone, 3 1/2 in in length, it looks like it was a knife, the tip must have been broken at some point by the person who made & used it because it looks like it was rounded and repaired for further use. Its really nice looking.
At one time Bob Overstreet lived in Cleveland, Tennessee. This is where his 1st book was published, which I had him sign, along with his good friend, Steve Addison. I always wondered what this book is worth?

In the 9TH Edition or later editions, look up Malaga Cove points in the Far West section (California). All those in there but 2 are my personal finds.

I was just looking at one of these today at my old man’s. He’s got one of these books. It’s from 98’ so I don’t know how accurate the prices are but I just really love looking through them.
I’d like a book like this but for effigies.

Are all these editions updated of pretty much same arrowheads in all of them?
Many of the points pictured in this guide are questionable as far as being modern or being actually old, but getting worse every edition. Beware of that. For general information it's fine and gives a good introduction. Remember, experience is everything. Be careful about COA (Certificate of Autrhenticy) providers. Many are scammers, don't actually know what they are doing, and just in it for the COA fee. Old vested collectors know who is Right and credible, and who is not reputable. Good luck, and be very careful if you decide to buy anything.

G 10 is the highest grade for artifacts. Like stamps or coins the quality or value of a piece is based on a condition scale rating artifacts from 1 to 10. 1 being a poor example and 10 being the best of course.
i found /dug 2 arrowhead/spearheads? up in quesnel on my aunts property in the early 70s. was gonna take it to sfu university to get it identified .i remember my aunt kickin me off her site as soon as i found them.lmao but i still have em.

I'm getting ready to review "North American Indian Artifacts" by Lar Hothem. It's a very interesting book and I think covers a broader range of artifacts than the OSG. Just re reading it and finishing up my notes. This video was my first attempt at a review. So....I'm working on my presentation

All the relics on both those pages at 5:13 are my finds except the Clovis points and even the one from Tulare Lake is mine.(bottom row, 2nd from the left).And out in the Thumbnail Guide for FW, the Vandenberg Contracting Stem is mine too. Sadly my Son took it in a case of my points, off to college with him and they never came back ...
Now I'm depressed...

Question for you are all these overstreet editions the same or are they updated somehow? I'm looking for a copy and dont know which one to get
Found a clear quartz arrowhead (coastal NC) while looking for granite rocks to use as borders for my potted plants... I've Googled & Googled but can't find any SOLID info about whether it's worth anything substantial. It IS small - approximate length & width: 1.25 in x .75 - but I thought it MAY be special bc it's clear quartz, and bc it LOOKS to be the same shape as many of the very early pieces I've seen depicted online... Question is: HOW do I determine its worth/rarity?? Antiquities dealers around here know NOTHING about Native American artifacts.
I’ve never known anyone to get rich from artifacts personally. However if you sell to the wrong people you find yourself rich with time on your hands…in the federal penitentiary! Be careful my friend

I'm that guy with 60k year old artifacts all over my 200 acres in the san luiz valley Basin in colorado. My people that I study, are last meandertaul, but the 1st American indians.. Go watch my videos, it shows what your describing.
You can pick up points not just in private property.
Overstreet is a joke, it's good for the novice who doesn't know anything, a lot of things are off in there, but people need to continue reading real publication's by real archaeologist's, not guys who are trying to control the market on artifacts

About every state as a Archaeology Society and they put out some great publication's, just about every one has a point identification, plus information on any recorded site's within the state, and there's other good sources, you just have to search, projectile points dot com is good for types as well, but they're a lot like overstreet, not everything is perfect or right, it takes year's of reading everything from your area and year's of studying your finds or people you know, prehistoric artifacts and the people who left them are a learning process that's never ending
G10 is the grade
What if i found a arrowhead about 2" in height 1" across with a straight \ of almost clear quarts through it? Im from georgia btw and it looks identical to the fluted paleo on the far right of the page u said you love to find one of those
