A word of warning about the cost of maintaining pleated garments. I once had a full, woolen skirt with knife pleats. When I moved to a new city, all of a sudden my local dry cleaner wanted to charge me PER PLEAT! Yikes! The cost of one cleaning would have been more than I paid for it new. So as great as pleats are, make sure you can maintain the garment yourself or that you can afford its maintenance.
I’ve never heard of that before - yikes!
Such an amazing tutorial! Very clear and informative step by steps! Thank you :)
Thank you very much! I’m glad you liked it
This is hands down the best instructional video. This is the extent of the information I really need. And got exactly that. I didn’t have to skip thru a 45min video of a complete garment being made, just to get to this. Perfect
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
Thank you souch for the tutorial. I have a dream sweet sixteen dress but no one makes something that looks remotely like the design so I decided I'll make my own. I've never seen before so it's definitely gonna be a journey so thank you for this tutorial
Good luck with your creation!

Ahhh this is so helpful!!! Quick question: do you know if you’re making a skirt with accordion pleats, can you still use the 3x waist measure trick to get the length of fabric, or do you have to use a different equation?
Just 3 times your waist measurement will do the job :)
@@KirileeCosplay amazing!! Thank you very much. Oh also, if I was planning to do a pleated bodice as well (vertical pleats across the full front) would the same theory apply as well? Cut out 3x the horizontal length of the pattern? Sorry if I'm not using the right terms, I am baby sewer 😬
No you are completely correct :)

Whenever I make the pleat, the fabric never folds right and they start off fine but turn out crooked or don’t fold at all, what should I do?
Maybe try ironing as you go

Hello! New subscriber here. -Kirsten
Awesome!
Can you teach me how to make a pleated skirt ?
Sure. Get a length of fabric three times the length of your waist and pleat down using one of the methods. Sew sides together and add a zip.
A kick pleat pls?
A kick pleat is a single inverted box pleat at the bottom of a skirt
