Mvt. 6, Langsam (excerpts)
arranged by Jimmie Reynolds
Jimmy Howard Reynolds arrangement. I directed this with my High School Band back in the mid 1970s when it was first published. We could only dream of a performance like this!
Such uplifting music!
We will have bands again.
We will have concerts again.
been looking for a recording of this on here for years, and we finally get one that JUST SO HAPPENS TO BE BY THE PRESIDENTS OWN
A beautifully controlled and crafted performance. Great breath control in quieter dynamics. The balance right across the whole band was terrific. 'The President's Own' Marine band at the top of their game.
Totally agree. The trumpets had PERFECT control throughout.
This is my father’s transcription. He would have loved this performance.
No kidding? That's great. Gustav would have approved, I think. Of course he would have had some suggestions, but he did that to his own work as well. haha
I enjoyed your fathers version very much.
Love this piece, great sound..it’s absolutely majestic ..you are very great 👍, love you..Thank you United States Marine Band
What every transcription can aspire to, elevate and shine the original in a new light and bring more beauty to the world.
Who is the superfan in the front? I have seen this lucky guy sitting there in a few videos over the years lol
Gustav mahler, würde sich freuen. Gott segnet Euch alle.
Excellent work, maestro Fettig. Of course you have a marvelous band at your disposal, but the way you maintain the tension of this wonderful piece, written mainly for strings who are allowed to breathe whenever they have to, is truly remarkable. You have my whole admiration, Colonel.
Please do the entire symphony.
Wonderful!
Recording of the entire symphony coming soon??? please!

Why in Eb?
Probably because some of the wind Instruments could play in a more natural range for them.
Transposition from D to E flat for woodwinds. Much easier to play.
One of the best wind ensembles in the world, but I find band arrangements of orchestral works to be a little awkward.
Wow! What a wonderful performance. A fantastic performance. It was marvelous and majestic. Although Mahler was a turn of the century composer, he still had some of that long-hair musical attributes. Th only thing wrong is that the conductor is BALD.
I noticed that and one of the clarinet players is bald too lol, otherwise you're right.
I don't understand this comment at all, but I love it!!
Sorry, just doesn't work, at least not in this sleepy, boring, lugubrious performance, with a wind band. Clarinets are NOT violins. One of the most glorious finales in all the orchestral repertoire, capped by perhaps Mahler's most profound timpani strokes (along with #4), and not one shot of the timpanist. This music should make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
That’s the wind band world for you!!! Bald men everywhere😂🤣
