This was my introduction to Mahler. I was 12, standing at the kitchen sink doing the dishes one evening, when I heard this coming from our hifi enthusiast neighbour's window. It was so beautiful and moving to me that I found myself holding my breath to hear it better. My neighbour kindly obliged me with a cassette copy, and so began my lifelong love of Mahler's music. I grew up in a working class Australian town where classical music was only heard in television ads, if at all, so I will always be grateful for that happy accident of being in the right place, at the right moment, to discover something so wonderful and precious, that has been a source of joy and comfort and beauty for almost forty years. PS, when the neighbours moved to Canada a few years later, they left me the vinyl LP as a parting gift. Thank you W and L!
One of the most beautiful master pieces of music ever written. It speaks to my heart, my emotions and my aspirations to share this experience with as many as possible. Should be a must-do for every stressed person to sit down and take a bath in the fabulous Mahler sound.
This video is exquisite and encapsulates, in many ways, what I’m unable to express the deep emotions I feel whenever I listen to this part of Mahler’s 3rd symphony. I thank you so much for creating this.
At the risk of seeming thoroughly ungrateful, I wish the creators of this glorious video hadn't decided to display photos of Mahler at the bottom corners of the screen. They didn't do this when creating other magical videos to accompany the sublime music. The photography is stunning but for me at least, it could have been even more effective.
Yes.....Love, true 💘... Is Written in a BOOK OF PROPHECY which Reads that We will make man in our image... Genesis 1:26... Let US Make MAN IN OUR IMAGE... THE HOLY BIBLE IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET AND IT IS TIME FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO KNOW THAT IT IS TIME TO FULFILL THE WORD.... SING ZION....SING
Does anyone have any feeling that the recording may be distorted and slower than normal- I simply cannot believe Abbado held that last chord so long. Seems a bit artificial? Just wondering.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful anecdote.
That was such a wonderful incident, thank you so much for sharing it.
Wow!
Simply one of the most beautiful things ever made by human beings.
Mahler's works are just out of this world.
Easy for you to say that, mate
I cry every time I listen to this music.
It is beyond, this mundane world.
The last moments of the Symphony brings you to heavenly place !!!!

The best of Mahler`s slow movements, even better than the more famous (and also excelent) adagietto.
DFX?
@@danbrown4090concordo
Slow movements of 9, 6 and 4…
@@nunotanackovic3398 yes, Mahler 4, third movement might be my favorite so far.
The artistry - What can you say. Simply superb.
Alma didnt deserve such love!
Fantastično. Toliko inspirativno da uzdiže i dušu i um i srce. Neopisivo lepo.
This really is all of my favorite music all in one video. Thank you so much!

Master piece
lovely music and visions to enjoy

This is the music of the soul that speaks about life and death in a language that surpasses any word. Translation courtesy of Google translate...
Beautifully crafted video.

absolutely gorgeous
Sublime and Magnificent!
Sublime
Just beautifull!,
Magnificent and touching!
The 2nd main theme is so like :I;ll Be Seeing You in all the old familiar placs"
thanks, now I will never be able to unhear that anymore ;-) similar to 'All by myself' and Rachmaninov
The maker of this video has created a loving tribute to Alma and Gustav.
A rather feeble version of this most emotional masterpiece !
Are we listening to the same recording?
It could be argued that all music began to decline at this point, because there is nothing more beautiful than this movement.
Questa sinfonia inizia strumentale poi diventa corale e poi torna strumentale
The Original German power ballad. To live for you, to die for you…
Tres
.bien
Herbert Von Karajan did not include this in his recording of Mahler's great adagios.
This is heaven or just before entering.

Merci Hans Rott...
And a bigger thanks to Beethoven for the key theme!
Hattie, I love you for
always loving me.
wow Alma was quite a looker !
"Glowing strings"? Yup, they're great. And how 'bout them *horns* ?
Think of this: a lesser composer would have ended around 26:00. Just think about that for a while.
He did not know Alma Schindler when he wrote the 3rd
music expresses that which words cannot, and this is no truer than in mahler's finale to his 3rd symphony.
Sounds so similar to Symphony no 4 Adagio
4:23...777 5:09...

Jajajaja

Correct: You can hear the cross fade that extends that final chord between 26:28 and 26:30.
Song of Solomon 4:7.... I love you Jesus... Thank you for loving me.... Sophia Nicole... The Church
I think that Mahler was influenced by fellow student Hans Rott much on this melody ? Debunk if necessary.
Mahler è sempre commovente.
