- Here is a comparison of 6 high-speed dental drills used for carving and engraving. This test is in a piece of walnut wood. These are some of the test I used during the reviews for my book.
- SCM 400XS
- Shofu Air Lab-Z
- NSK Presto
- Turbo 300
- Vortex F5
- Turbo Carver
Mr. Wolford, we could not have asked for a better side by side comparison. Thank you for taking the time and saving me the trial and error.
Thanks, great comparison!
It appears to me that they all do essentially the very same results. For me it would come down to the noise factor, the preference would be the east amount of noise. Thanks for doing this.
Noise level? How would you rank them. Also overall performance? Thx
Thanks for watching. That’s a complex question. I go over all of this in my book “Dental Drill Art”.
The Turbo Carver appeared to be the weakest of the bunch. No?
Kelly Craig the Turbo Carver would not be my first choice for hard woods. However, many people use them for eggshell carving and they seem to do fine.
What? You mean there are hobbies other than woodwork?
hi roger that was very interesting indeed thanks for taking the time to make it
just got a filling
Hi Roger. Great stuff. I use the 400xs it is an amazing tool. It is so easy to use with the stenciling system. I still use my dremil for my rough work. I use mine all the time.
But where can you buy this
The NSK seems notably stronger...Puts a lot of heat down though!
Which one would you recommend?
Thank you so much for the video...they are soo expensive though... you don't have a old one you would be willing to part with? For $ of coarse I'm not a mooch ...recently laid off i need some sort of supplemental income slash Hobby...lol no shame jeez that sounds bad
and there you just had a filling with different handpieces
The line by NSK is much cleaner! I mean there are no filaments. Am I right Mr. Wolford?
where can you buy the scm 400xs?
