I gotta say this video was incredibly helpful! I'm currently doing a van conversion on an 06 sprinter and want to put a Thule awning on it but you made it easy to follow. I originally was thinking of mounting it to the rails but as you said, it's probably better to attach to the Thule cross bars, more secure that way. Also I had been trying to figure out the difference between "wall mount, rack mount, and roof mount."

ComeIntoTheOut- Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad it helped out. How is the overall conversion going for you!?

@@BookItTravel it's going some what well. I'm dealing with back order issues at the moment and I'm having a hard time committing to certain things like which size sink should I go with.

    Congrats!
Yea, I had a bit of a time figuring out a configuration for my Ford Transit Connect. I like the side tent concept and will need the rack mount awning to connect the tent to. I also want the Motion Cargo Large up there too. I had to go back to the beginning and start over by choosing the Track Rack for the Transit Connect. I am not sure if I can have both mounted at the same time, I will call customer service when the time comes. What I like about the Track Rack is that it's rated for 500 lbs of weight, not that I intend to load it up with that much weight, but it's better to not fall short later on.
Are you satisfied with the quality of the awning? Do you keep it installed full time? Are you extending out with a tent and/or the rain panels?

Hey! Appreciate the support and questions. Best of luck with the Track Rack! Love the awning. It stays installed as it is heavy and bulky to uninstall. We keep it in during high winds and do not plan on adding a tent option. We sleep in the van. How long have you had your Transit!?

@@BookItTravel Funny, in Thule's demo video, they make it look so easy to install and uninstall. If you need to keep it installed, then I will for sure. I will be traveling solo so wrangling that thing around won't be an option. To summarize: For several years, I reviewed all options to travel around the U.S.A. with my dog. I narrowed it down to starting out with either a Ford Transit Connect or The Ford T250 knowing that the FTC would be too small for the both of us, I kept it on the back burner and kept my sights on the T250 and if life didn't through a wrench at me, I would have bought one. Last year, was a rough year. I wound up in the hospital in June for 24 hours. For what exactly, I do not know and they couldn't diagnose anything. In hindsight, I think I experienced my first severe migraine ever, and/or food poisoning. That excursion wiped out my down payment for the T-250. Later on last year, October, I was still without a set of wheels and undecided. My dog was diagnosed as having T-Cell lymphoma, treatable, but not curable. He was insured and I had to make a decision FAST to get him from Ormond Beach, FL to Jacksonville, FL once a month for his chemotherapy. I decided to take a shot and see what the local Ford dealer had advertised .... specials, and what they had on the lot. The dealership was advertising no down payment, and no payments for three months for qualified applicants. Luckily, I JUST boosted my credit score up well over 800 points. So I contacted the saleswoman who I was exchanging emails with about FTC. When we spoke prior, they didn't have any on the lots, it was the end of the year and I told her that I would contact her as soon as I knew 2021's were in. Well, my dog's diagnosis held me to my word. I was fortunate that they JUST got the one in their lot. So, wishing 24 hrs., the saleswoman picked me up at my house with that Ford Transit Connect and we went for a test drive. I said, "I'll take it". A few hours later, I was the owner of a Ford Transit Connect and my dog loved it and was so happy and comfortable for his commute to and from chemotherapy. He enjoyed his local trips to the dog friendly beaches too. He passed away a little after mid June. I am picking myself up now and ready to move forward and configure my van and go on the road solo. I should be ready in a few months. My other reasoning for a van is that I live on beachside, and I had to evacuate the island ever since Matthew. A nice van will get me and my valuables out of here in a timely fashion and I won't have to stay in seedy no tell motels. Actually, looking into a van as an emergency escape vehicle was my primary reason, but I always have to find more to close the deal, lol. So, that's when I decided to travel throughout the U.S.A. in it six months out of the year. I have to remain in Florida for the other six for tx reason's.
Glad that you are happy with your awning, and that it is holding up for you. I really would feel better with an extended tent option to be able to stretch out and keep the bugs off of me too. Should make a nice hangout spot when I am staying with friends or if I meet and make new ones.
