The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. Was going to show this to my wife to explain Rally Racing and why I want to get into it as an amateur driver. I wasn't absolutely sure that I wouldn't be showing her this until I saw the rallycar on fire.

i respect all Motorsport drivers, skills and concentration needed is just amazing. F1 runs on closed circuits....u will remember more than 70% of the track few laps into your practice runs and they run on 21 diff tracks throughout the year..... Whereas a WRC 2016 to date.....since the beginning of this year had run 114 stages across 6 countries already.....and more to come......you can probably have an impression of the stages u ran the previous year....but not 100%.....however they push their cars more than 100% on stages tht they have some impression only.....WRC drivers or other rally drivers....hats off to you guys who dare to make friends with ditches...logs...trees...cliffs....rocks....dirt... inches close track side spectators...u name it....its just another diff level compared to others..

It's a shame that the sport hasn't really caught on in America... Very rarely is a WRC event televised in the States. I yearn for the days there's a WRC rally held in the Adirondacks or Yosemite.

I've gotten into rally recently and have loved the Subarus, Mitsubishi, and ford rally cars. I just got Dirt Really 2.0 from Xbox game pass to try it out and I have to say that this is fun yet extremely hard🤣 props to the real people who actually do this! The focus is real. It's the most I try hard everyday lol even more than COD games lol. But I still don't understand about 98% of the sport and cars in general lol.
The U.S isn't cool enough to host a WRC Rally event :(

Yea especially when we don't fucking get it on our channels. There are so many locations from New England to the Pacific Northwest to the Sierra Nevadas and the Rockies as well as the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico if only rally is more popular here

I'm 22 and i have been a WRC fan for some years now. This is the most dangerous, most tactical racing in my opinion...drive by at those speeds and paying attention at the co-driver while you doin so...thats just insane! To become a WRC driver, as good as them...it takes years and a lot of driving hours...lets not forget the money, cuz each car, cost some hundrends thousands euros...

Rally may be the slower of motorsports but consider this:
1: it's faaaaar from as expensive though it's not cheap either
2: rally drivers drive on 4 times as many different surfaces as circuit races (Tarmac, gravel, snow, yes, even water)
3: you barely have space for the car on the roads, now that's no margin for error
4: Rallying goes everywhere, it's on everyday roads. Anything else needs a stadium built up!
Conclusion: rallying is just that much more exciting to watch.
WRC is a very good sport, I enjoy watching drivers when they drive :)

@Molo9000 More important than the power output in these cars is the torque. They have massive torque: +600 Nm, almost at any engine speed. That's why you could dump the clutch and all the 4 wheels would spin and not stall the engine.

Rally is the best motorsport out there hands down. Nothing else is as tough.
There is something strangely calming about watching the dirt tail of a car taking a flawless line. Its like for a few seconds your watching the line blur between man and machine. Like the car is just an extension of man.
It must be pretty cool to film these races.

WRC is simply the best! I love the combination of real (looking) cars, real roads, and fast driving. i've been wrc fan since the mid '90s, and i sincerely hope that the FIA bureaurocrats will stop ruining this beautiful sport and go back to the roots.
