13:34 “Learn the CORRECT answers FIRST”; best single piece of advice. The second is to frequently take subsection quizzes on what you have learned. Learn another subsection or two and take the subsection quizzes. Once you’ve learned a full section, take a section quiz for all the subsections in the section that you have studied. Keep following this approach as you learn more subsections and sections, and make sure to take multi-section quizzes occasionally as you learn more sections. You want to keep building up and reinforcing the correct answers in your mind. I’d suggest waiting until you are consistently passing the section quizzes covering all the questions before taking your first practice exam. I totally agree that prematurely jumping into practice exams will create chaos in your mind. I followed this approach when I took my Technician exam decades ago, and followed it this past month before getting my General. Just ordered the materials for the Extra so I can get that too. This isn’t difficult, but it does take time to absorb the information. Once you get your license, you can go back and really learn the material. Good luck to all!
You are EXACTLY correct with this assessment my friend!! May others see this and follow it. Please let me know how you do on the Extra Exam. I know you will crush it :-)
I knew it would take time for people to find them so I kept on making them even when the numbers were low. My focus is teaching this stuff, not promoting myself or the channel. I don't make a living on UA-cam like many others.
The technician test is very basic and any online / free source is more than enough. For general and extra, its possible to use test taking techniques like memorization to spot correct answers but this is not a good idea, as there's a big difference between test taking and learning. For example, the general test had a question that had two lines of mathematical calculation but the answer had a unique word that didn't appear anywhere else on the test.
There is more than one approach to take this test. You have to pick what works best for you. What I explained is ONE way to do this. Most of the test is directed for those who want to understand the electrical concepts behind ham radio. Good general principles. This is great for those who are more technically inclined to grasp this stuff from the bottom up. People like me, who are not technical but would rather focus on practical concepts that apply to using ham radio, like this method I explained. I needed to pass the test then learn how to use and deploy ham radio properly through practice and studying. Mine is top down. Different approaches so work with the method that will help you become a master at this craft. Thanks for posting!!

Heard you mention in the vanity call that you have to keep your number of the call zone you live in. That’s not the case anymore just for accuracy. Also AE7Q’s site was invaluable in seeing what calls were coming available as well as predicting whether a call would be awarded.
@@hamradiomadesimple yes sir… I actually think it was a pretty good policy back in the past so you knew a general location just by the district designated. It made sense back when W3RMX moved to Cali, he’d change to W6RMX. I do understand why the rule changed though. With the number of hams and the scarcity of 1x2 and 2x1 call signs, it’s outdated. Even a lot of 1x3’s and 2x2’s are taken these days. Having plenty of hams is a great problem to have. 73 de W3OY

You can do it! I had the same fears and realize that if you learn the system correctly, you can pass the test. The real learning comes once you start buying the equipment.
Hope you are improving health-wise. Is it still possible to get your notes, hate to ask but staying busy has been my friend in a health crisis. If you’re not up to it no worries.
If you are asking do you need a new license to operate the Ham Radio Bands? Yes, there are three levels of Ham Radio Operator License. 1st one is Technician Class (mostly UHF/VHF Bands with some 6M & 10M HF). 2nd is General Class License which gives you about 90% of all the bands. 3rd is Extra Class License which gives you all the Bands. What is your goal and plan that drives your interest? Maybe I can help you.
Sorry for the brain freeze. Multitasking can make my brain circuits short out at times. Thanks for your understanding. BTW, I have a video on taking the test if you want to use it.

Helpful videos. If I want to take the exam for a General license, do I need to pass the Technician exam first?
Yes you do. Many study for both at the same time. I did.
Excellent vid!
Wow, you watch several of my videos and left a very encouraging comment on each one! Thanks again.
