It's very simple. Football has been ruined by several things. One- huge amounts of money, to the point where too many players don't care/get complacent (will we EVER see passion like Keane vs Viera ever again?). Two- Referees being far too soft. In my opinion, football has gone way too far towards player protection. I love to see passionate tackles. If it wins the ball relatively cleanly, I'm happy with it. Is there a risk of injuring the oppositions? Sometimes. Does that always mean it's a foul. Not for me. Three- Players rolling around/cheating. Worst examples I've seen of it are the Pep Barca side, and the Mourinho Porto side. Awful awful awful awful awful. Ruins the game. Tries to cheat the game. For me, dives should get a yellow in game, then, if deemed to be unsporting afterwards, there should be a three match ban. STOP DIVING. Four- time wasting. The World Cup showed how we can stop it. ALL WASTED TIME GETS ADDED ON. It will improve the game, prevent time wasting, and, for a while, give mammoth 10 minute extra time that will punish the side that tried to waste loads of time. But that's just me.
Worst current example.ALSO Portuguese are The Nuno and current Wolves teams (and I have always liked Wolves since their 1966/67 promotion team). Next time Wolves are on TV and leading with 30 minutes to go , count how many go down. Around 2 months ago SEVEN different Wolves plays went down and yet they RARELY EVER do when they are losing matches.....FUNNY THAT...
If football was serious about things like diving they would do something about it. A dive where no contact takes place, 10 game ban. It would stop overnight. Time wasting: When the ball isn't in play the clock stops. That makes it pointless. Respect for refs: If a player that isn't the captain questions the call, it's a booking. This would stop after the first weekend of the rule being brought in. It's about money. Football wants controversy, it's sporting clickbait. This segment being a great example. They wants these talking points, they want people worked up. Football authorities dont want a pure form of football, they want it contorted.
If this was a World Cup and if a player from Portugal, Spain etc had went down like that vs England to get a sending off Neville would be saying it was a dive. Because it was a dive.
The issue is the officials have shown that if you don't go down, if you don't roll around and act like you're dying that they do nothing about it. IF the officials start dealing with things WHEN players stay up then the diving around will stop.
kane pushes over demari gray, foul (potential but would be harsh yellow) he then intentionally kicks doucore which is malicious play and excessive force, (straight red) then grabs doucores shirt and pulls him, and then gets pushed and dives holding the other side of his face, (yellow for simulation). The fact that kane didn't recieve a straight red for this but doucore somehow did is disgraceful and biast refereeing clearly
The problem is players don’t get red carded as much if you don’t go down in that situation. You can’t blame Kane for taking advantage of poor refereeing
Both seem to in their own way be OK with cheating to get a harsher decision from the Reff. Another reason I stopped my interest in football way back in the 90s.
If Kane doesn't go to ground it turns into a shoving match and both him and doucoure get yellow cards. The quality of refereeing forces players to do this or the opponent will get away with it.
Hand in the face is a red and has been for years. Doucoure surely knows the rules? He’s getting a red regardless. Little tantrum has cost him - serves him right.
nah gary hit it spot on with this one, if he doesn’t go to ground it could easily not be a red. end of story. i don’t support either team. if you don’t want kane going to ground then don’t put fingers in his eye it’s that simple.
Because it shouldn't have been a red card... so then it would've been the right decision... if you go down and roll around to get someone sent off tbh I've lost all respect for you as a man, cause I've seen little kids be tougher than kane looked in that moment, it's like when 3 year olds fight and one exaggerates getting hit by the other one to make the parent react
The fact is Kane is not as good as people think he is ,it was handbags at 5 paces ,now don’t get me wrong I wanted Everton to loose but they didn’t and now you can see what Conte was ranting about.
As an arsenal fan i have to say, a finger in the eye is different from a normal hand in the face. Think of it this way, in a professional UFC fight if he had put his fingers in the eye like that he'd potenintially have had a point taken.
I don’t get why this is even being debated tbh, I swear I see players rolling around screaming in agony over a tiny bit of contact like every game, I mean look at Neymar lol.
Kane makes the most of it but I’ve seen players make a meal out of less, and it barely even gets brought up if it’s given as a free kick that leads to a goal tbh
Imagine walking past someone in the street and as they point out something to a friend they hit u in the face. Now imagine falling to the ground after it and rolling about 😂😂😂 it's ridiculous
They should've both got a yellow and kept the game moving and forgot about it, we should't reward kane for acting like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum and punish doucoure for acting like a man and standing up for his teammate and himself
But what gets me is nobody is talking about Harry Kane full pelt booting Doucoure in the leg when the ball isn’t there, which courses Doucoure to put his hand in his face. If that’s not an aggressive, violent act and a red card then I don’t know what is
Players have to go down otherwise the refs do nothing. Richarlison did the same thing to Ramsdale, becuase Ramsdale didn’t roll on the ground the ref and VAR did nothing. Until the refs get better I don’t blame any player for doing this.
Imagine if this was Bruno Fernandes or another foreign player, you would never hear the end of it from the media and fans. They would probably want them banned, call them embarrassing and a disgrace. But because he's England's captain, he will have excuses made up for him and it will all be fine. He literally manufactured the whole situation and it's called clever. The equaliser was poetic justice.
One thing people need to make clear is that it isn’t an English player thing, it’s a Harry Kane thing. Plenty of English players such as Sterling, Rashford, Grealish, Maguire etc would’ve received vastly more criticism than Kane does.
Kane's nationality is incidental. Both pundits here are scathing. One of the most criticised divers in EPL history was Andy Johnson and in the days of Div 1, Frannie Lee, so stop trying to insinuate that English players get a pass FFS
it's red but he didnt have to go down. In a fight if you get touched in the face like that would you go down and let your opponent kick the ish outta you or will u stand and try to defend yourself
Gotta agree with Carra at the end there "Imagine someone doing that in front of your wife". You wouldn't go down like that. I agree it's a sending off, but no need for that reaction. We want to see less of those theatrics and more of the correct decisions being made
He'd have a harder time in a foreign league though; would be waiting for the cards coming out as he adjusts to playing by the same rules as everyone else chasing a trophy.
Honestly have no idea why people are so annoyed with Kane going down and making the most of the incident - that's the modern game, everyone does the same thing, they all make the most of situations. We'd damn well expect him to do it if he was playing for England and there was an opportunity to get an opposition player sent off.
Same tbh I want arsenal over city like let there be competition and difference but if arsenal loses as they one game in hand and den draws city will defo win as they won’t bottle it like that . Or if arsenal gets 2 loses in a row and city doesn’t draw and win den yeee
There is where i lose respect for football. The childish behaviour on the pitch by players constantly diving and rushing the ref for appeals. Rugby does this far better, ref will speak with captains because that whats the captains there for. I get its part of the game, but we can do without alot of this nonsense. The prime example is bruno fernandes. Bruno tends to get fewer fouls/ pens given to him (now) because he’s known to go down easy. As a united fan it gets frustrating as refs brush off potential pen appeals because its bruno, but it completely makes sense why.
Exactly bro. Don’t understand the backlash. Tnere a been far far worse incidents of players “diving”. Doucoure struck him in the face with force of course he’s gonna go down 😂
Seconds before, Kane had lost the ball and it was his annoyance that led to the push/foul/walk over Gray, he then whacked Doucoure out of frustration. Kane clearly lost his rag and then milked the contact.
@@mediacenterman8583 Also he pulled his shirt forcing Doucoure into him and partly (still not excusable) he was reaching to stop them clashing. Kane is a disgrace, why do people laud cheats as smart or clever?!
I do not excuse any over dramatisation or diving, in fact, I despise seeing it. But maybe the problem is that referees only give the the foul or get the card out when a player goes down. I've seen so many incidents where a player gets fouled and stays in his feet in the most honest manner, only for the referee to deem "there was not enough contact" to blow his whistle. In a sense, officials are encouraging this type of behaviour. The same thing occurs with diving, so many dives or players going down so easily to try and fool the ref and they almost never get punished.
1:22 exactly, part of the game which people don't like BUT if he doesn't get that player sent off BY ANY MEANS we're having a go at him Gary 100% right. We don't want people to dive or milk injuries but the alternative is we want the ref to send the player off without needing it to be made blatantly obvious. The sad reality is if he doesn't do that there's a good chance it won't be a red and players will think it's ok to be doing that which would be assault anywhere else. I get Jamie absolutely because it's not nice and we want everyone to be nice and play fair but there is $$$ at stake, you don't take chances with stuff like that.
The issue isnt with Kane, regardless of going down or not it’s a red card, the issue is if he stays up the refs might not give a red and that’s the issue. Half the players would act and roll about if red were given when they should be
Wasn’t a dive was clearly in his eyes. Docoure is in the wrong and should have been sent off. Carrgher L take. Suarez use to do stuff like that all the time if their was contact to his face.
Keane got absolute nailed nearly a leg breaker got straight back up and scored the equalizer kane gets a hand in the face and stays on the ground for 5 minutes
People may say that Kane gets special treatment because he’s England’s best player, but I also think he‘s getting more of a grilling for this than most other players would. This kind of play acting is endemic in football. Doesn’t make it right - I hate that the game has become like this. But it’s a fact of the game the game these days.
Watch the 2006 World Cup final again and one thing you'll see and hear is the disdain for theatrics and diving. You hear the commentators talking about how ridiculous it is that footballers now did this.
Not sure why there is so much focus on it, every player in the prem goes down after any contact with their face. Every single week there's multiple instances where a player will go down after getting their cheek grazed by a hand, forearm, elbow,, whatever.
If the Refs and VAR started giving Reds for tackles and challenges where people stay on thier feet then this would stop. How many times do we see players get pulled/obstructed/fouled in the box and dont go down and a penalty is not given. Yet if they go down its given.
Nobody's even mentioning that Kane is fouling Doucoure here too like... grabbing his shirt, holding him in - instant reaction is to shrug off - only place left to do that is Kane's face.. look at Doucoure's right hand too he's pushing him away.
All that after Kane had fouled Gray and then kicked him while he was on the ground, then Kane went into a tackle on Doucoure after the whistle. That's four counts of aggression by Kane, all of which are potentially yellow cards. Something that is not getting a mention is Kane should have been given a red for two yellows.
Jamie should have gone down there, blatant red for Neville.

And he would be right. Just dont try to spin it as ”smart play” when your own compatriot does it.
Its called double standards.
Not diving when there is contact. This was exaggeration, not simulation. Kane went full Slaven Bilic vs Laurent Blanc at France 1998 WC SF
The issue is the officials have shown that if you don't go down, if you don't roll around and act like you're dying that they do nothing about it. IF the officials start dealing with things WHEN players stay up then the diving around will stop.
Kane is full of 'gamesmanship' this year especially. You watch these Spurs games, full matches, you'll see it regularly.
This year? He has been doing this since he was loaned out. A very crafty player
Lolol there’s some great screenshots to be had from this vid
I just find it insane that both doucoure and moura got three game ban and mouras red was WAY worse. A potential leg breaker vs a dive
kane pushes over demari gray, foul (potential but would be harsh yellow) he then intentionally kicks doucore which is malicious play and excessive force, (straight red) then grabs doucores shirt and pulls him, and then gets pushed and dives holding the other side of his face, (yellow for simulation). The fact that kane didn't recieve a straight red for this but doucore somehow did is disgraceful and biast refereeing clearly
The problem is players don’t get red carded as much if you don’t go down in that situation. You can’t blame Kane for taking advantage of poor refereeing
Kane went full Slaven Bilic vs Laurent Blanc at France 1998 WC SF
Both seem to in their own way be OK with cheating to get a harsher decision from the Reff.
Another reason I stopped my interest in football way back in the 90s.
These 2 together are fantastic lmao. To funny
If Kane doesn't go to ground it turns into a shoving match and both him and doucoure get yellow cards. The quality of refereeing forces players to do this or the opponent will get away with it.
That's a good point. You have to play the game as it is, not how you want it to be.
Doucoure was just hangry from fasting all day man, allow it.
I agree. The refereeing incompetence is what's pushing players to play acting.
Like Casemiro?
Hand in the face is a red and has been for years. Doucoure surely knows the rules? He’s getting a red regardless. Little tantrum has cost him - serves him right.
If your opinion is the opposite of Gary Neville's - on any occasion - you're probably a very reasonable football fan, with logical opinions. 👍🏻
nah gary hit it spot on with this one, if he doesn’t go to ground it could easily not be a red. end of story. i don’t support either team. if you don’t want kane going to ground then don’t put fingers in his eye it’s that simple.
I bet Gary was slightly tempted to actually hit Carra 😂
What these pundits fail to understand constantly, is that if you don't fall to the ground and make the most of it, the ref isn't giving a red card.
Hand to the face is always going to be a red, didn’t give the ref a choice. Agree with the sentiment though
Give me examples of a hand in the face that was obviously a red, but a yellow was given? Solely because the player didn't go down.
What do you mean they don’t understand that? Neville literally said that exact thing at 1:30
Because it shouldn't have been a red card... so then it would've been the right decision... if you go down and roll around to get someone sent off tbh I've lost all respect for you as a man, cause I've seen little kids be tougher than kane looked in that moment, it's like when 3 year olds fight and one exaggerates getting hit by the other one to make the parent react
@AH Not always. If the player doesn't go down clutching their face there's a high chance it's just a yellow.
I was low-key expecting Carragher to do a Bane impression as Neville had his hand on his face like a mask.
😂
You merely adopted the dark, i was born it - bane
Don't forget Kane's favourite trick. Waiting for the centreback to jump and then moonwalking in to them to buy a free kick.
The fact is Kane is not as good as people think he is ,it was handbags at 5 paces ,now don’t get me wrong I wanted Everton to loose but they didn’t and now you can see what Conte was ranting about.
Doucoure tried the "Vulcan Mind Meld" 🤣🤣🤣
Vince absolutely loves watching these 2 horse around. That's it guys keep up the entertainment for old vincey
As an arsenal fan i have to say, a finger in the eye is different from a normal hand in the face. Think of it this way, in a professional UFC fight if he had put his fingers in the eye like that he'd potenintially have had a point taken.
Doesn't justify his super delayed fake reaction
I don’t get why this is even being debated tbh, I swear I see players rolling around screaming in agony over a tiny bit of contact like every game, I mean look at Neymar lol.
Love how Neville doesn't like answering the same questions he asks Carra.
Then why did he take 5 days to go down? 😂 blatant dive, punish it
Going down easily and diving are different things
Gary’s right though, divings part of the game now
@@GIBBO4182 it wasn’t going down easy it was the delayed reaction
@@nonofyourbuisness8373 did he get touched? Yes…so not a dive🤷🏻♂️
Such a flawed answer
If that’s not an aggressive, violent act and a red card then I don’t know what is
I don't think Doucoure even meant to touch his face, just push him off him cos Kane had hold of his shirt
If it was bruno fernandes the rat would still be on the floor rolling about this afternoon in an empty stadium
Kane's nationality is incidental. Both pundits here are scathing. One of the most criticised divers in EPL history was Andy Johnson and in the days of Div 1, Frannie Lee, so stop trying to insinuate that English players get a pass FFS
I love how high-pitched Neville's voice went. How can you say it didn't go in his eye. haha. made me chuckle.
Carragher is spot on
This is part of the game. Touched in the face, go down, red card. All part and parcel of modern football
So gary calls him james carragher and then pushes his face and that's not a red card then I don't know what is anymore 😂
That’s a mitrovic level ban
it's red but he didnt have to go down.
We want to see less of those theatrics and more of the correct decisions being made
" I've got no problem with people diving" 😂
I’m sure he means with contact
@@tomashehir but it's a contact sport.
Debate aside, I hope we can all join together in wishing Harry a speedy recovery from this brutal assault
😂
Why are we not talking about the kick Kane gave the player on the floor, moments before the almost career ending caress on the face happened?
Career ending caress🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ayyoooooo
Kane will ALWAYS be protected, he's the golden child for either club or country.
First who will win premier league I’m saying Arsenal as a Liverpool fan
I agree arsenal
Same tbh I want arsenal over city like let there be competition and difference but if arsenal loses as they one game in hand and den draws city will defo win as they won’t bottle it like that . Or if arsenal gets 2 loses in a row and city doesn’t draw and win den yeee
@@emrekarakoc8124cheers Geoff.
Arsenal. Chelsea fan
Not Man United, but at least they were in the title race for 3 days 😂😂🤡🤡
There is where i lose respect for football. The childish behaviour on the pitch by players constantly diving and rushing the ref for appeals. Rugby does this far better, ref will speak with captains because that whats the captains there for.
I get its part of the game, but we can do without alot of this nonsense. The prime example is bruno fernandes. Bruno tends to get fewer fouls/ pens given to him (now) because he’s known to go down easy. As a united fan it gets frustrating as refs brush off potential pen appeals because its bruno, but it completely makes sense why.
As a West Ham fan I don't have a problem with that Harry did. At the end of the day, it's not his fault that Doucoure stuck his hand in his face.
Exactly bro. Don’t understand the backlash. Tnere a been far far worse incidents of players “diving”. Doucoure struck him in the face with force of course he’s gonna go down 😂
People acting like it’s never happened before! 😂
I think it's also a thing where if you go down you guarantee that the situation will at least be looked at
people are crazy out here I'm telling you this Kane-hate is strange.
Arsenal fan here. Well done Harry. It's part of the game
Gary is full of it.
No one talks about how Kane kicked greys legs when he is on the floor no card for that
Seconds before, Kane had lost the ball and it was his annoyance that led to the push/foul/walk over Gray, he then whacked Doucoure out of frustration. Kane clearly lost his rag and then milked the contact.
@@mediacenterman8583 Also he pulled his shirt forcing Doucoure into him and partly (still not excusable) he was reaching to stop them clashing. Kane is a disgrace, why do people laud cheats as smart or clever?!
pathetic from Kane. knows exactly what hes doing in the entire incident, he literally tried to volley Doucoure’s shin
Doucoure’s a G, told Harry to get the hell of him 😂 still got the draw 🎉
players need to dive because officials dont give it unless they sell it. Sort officiating out, and players won't need to be dramatic.
It’s strange to me how this gets way more attention than the potentially career ruining challenge Moura did🤷🏻♂️
Correct
Because it was so egregious nobody can argue about it
@@detached336 yet there are 2 people just in this video who are🤷🏻♂️
I do not excuse any over dramatisation or diving, in fact, I despise seeing it.
You know Neville is defending his mate when his voice goes high…
spare me the moralizing. players exaggerate contact because they dont trust the referees to make the correct decision otherwise, its that simple
Gary is spot on
1:22 exactly, part of the game which people don't like BUT if he doesn't get that player sent off BY ANY MEANS we're having a go at him Gary 100% right.
If I was Jamie carragher's son I'd be embarrassed 😅
The issue isnt with Kane, regardless of going down or not it’s a red card, the issue is if he stays up the refs might not give a red and that’s the issue. Half the players would act and roll about if red were given when they should be
Wasn’t a dive was clearly in his eyes. Docoure is in the wrong and should have been sent off. Carrgher L take. Suarez use to do stuff like that all the time if their was contact to his face.
Doucoure was just hangry from fasting all day man, allow it.
He went down like a 5 year old boy....😩😩😩
I agree with Jamie
When an English player dives he’s clever but when a foreign players dives he’s a disgrace 😂
Don’t blame Harry end of the day he trying to win for his team and no I’m not a spurs fan
Gary is spot on with everything here
Everton was playing so well before the red, wish they got to finish the game with 11 players
"I've got no problem with people diving or trying to win a penalty" - Jamie Carragher 2023
hes lost the plot
You just know Gary didn't wash his hands after wiping his 🟤
"What would a punch look like" 😂😂😂
Keane got absolute nailed nearly a leg breaker got straight back up and scored the equalizer kane gets a hand in the face and stays on the ground for 5 minutes
Doucoure thought that he was Baron Van Raschke for a moment.
Neville would be the first one screaming if it wasn’t Sir Harry Kane of Kaneshire.
Gary meat rides Kane immensely
Jamie is the legend ..loved the end part😂❤🙌
Kane gets so much benefit of doubt from the English media..
United fan but agree with carra
Not sure why there is so much focus on it, every player in the prem goes down after any contact with their face. Every single week there's multiple instances where a player will go down after getting their cheek grazed by a hand, forearm, elbow,, whatever.
Gary, what is meant for sportsmanship?
I like how they sort of hate each other but get on with each other too 😂
If the Refs and VAR started giving Reds for tackles and challenges where people stay on thier feet then this would stop.
Gary Neville being as embarrassing as Harry Kane.
