Lyrics
Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh God, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)
Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da...
Oh, I haven't got one
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out

Death is a wonderful part of life - make yours count by having lived a fulfilling life
There is a light that never goes out (?)
One time I was in a coffee shop at 10 at night, during a thunderstorm, when this song came on the radio. I put away what I was doing. I soaked in the experience. I'm pretty sure my life peaked at that moment. The music washed around me, harmonizing with the drama of the thunder and lightning surrounding the shop. All the others in the coffeeshop looked perfectly in place. I at that time was trying to escape an argumentative mother and a family too chaotic to enjoy. For the few minutes this song played, everything made sense.
oh, that's beautiful
I hope you find peace soon
I thought I was so in love, at that time...great lyrics.l.
Cheers M8.
That's actually beautiful man
That was one of my mom’s favorite songs. I always listen to this song, and every time I do, I close my eyes and can recall the great moments I spent with her. The sentence ‘There’s a light that never goes out’ is so powerful. My mother passed away a year ago, but her light will never go out inside my heart. She will always be alive. And this song is a bond between me and her memory

A lot of us don’t. Moreover never will.
Godspeed.
Don't forget the songs that made you laugh, and the songs that made you cry.
@@TraceLight if you are depressed and suicidal, please get help. It can spiral down so quickly. I have lost 2 friends to suicide. I will never know if there could have been a way to prevent it and for them to find happiness and fulfillment. I understand the pain that can drive someone to suicide, however if one can hang on and get through the darkness, what Morrisey says is true... "there is a light and it never goes out."
@@APoleYouKnow oh yes. There are many. I still love those songs. ❤

The Perks of Being a Wallflower:
"I love The Smiths. Best break-up band ever"

Girls into bands like the smiths or Radiohead are too idealized lmao
Helena Gutierrez what brought you here?
I have a love hate relationship with that movie/book
@@dalythompson7192 what do you mean?
My favourite Smith's song and ironically it's been a lifesaver.
I CAN NEVER STOP LOVING THE SMITHSSSSS
Lyrics
Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore
Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought oh God, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)
Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da...
Oh, I haven't got one
And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine
Oh, there is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out
There is a light and it never goes out

@@trinettebower9990 The light that never goes out lyric that Morrissy states refers to the spiritual light that people say they experience either near death, it's a spiritual light that does not hurt to look into and guides us to the other side. A heavenly light. I'm not joking when i say that song and lyric is very very powerful and a wonderous part of the song.
Only song to fill me with enthusiasm
the killer
If I die by getting hit by a double decker bus I want this song playing in my headphones at the time
Relatable
You died because your were wearing headphones while driving and you didn't hear the truck horn.
Holy shit i'm not the only one having these weird ideas

The Smiths can make such a depressing, morbid song sound so beautiful!
Un peu comme the bed de lou reed
Rare sont ceux qui arrivent à cette performance
En France nous avons Baudelaire ( littéraire français)
You mean Morrissey can take Johnny Marrs beautiful happy melodies and make them morbidly depressing.
RIP Andy Rourke
The lyrics are so sad but very powerful. An 80s masterpiece!
Hey man cheer up.. There's a light that never goes out.

The most beautiful lovesong ever.❤️
When I asked my husband what “our song” is, to him, he said it’s this one. It’s seen us through about 20 years of being in love. And, that’s the sweetest thing. We’re very lucky.
I’m in love with this band’s sound.
@SIMPSON Bart I’m a young teenager, why?
try this one: big country - chance
me too, i love morrisseys haunting voice and dont even get me started on the instrumentals, especially marrs guitar

Music 10/10. Lyrics 10/10.
After the death of my mother, I was homeless and lost for a time and this song helped me survive. It spoke to me.
How'd you become homeless? I just want to know because I'm 19, my mom is 53. I live with her and my dad and I work from home (nsfw artist). I wouldn't consider myself a doomer. My parents love me alot despite me being annoyed by them sometimes. I never took any drugs before but I never lost my virginity and or had a girlfriend :(
Sorry that was a bit off topic but i don't want my parents to die and i have nothing basically
My mother was a single mom, a poor immigrant. When she passed I had no where to go and no money. It sounds like u have a better situation.
@@JohnnyPunish Yeah i do and i'm thankful. I hope you're doing alright tho.
I relate, when my husband recently died, I can't seem to go out alone, this is how I feel, knowing what I know now.. thanks for comment
@weesch duran Good News: Your mom lives everytime you mention her. My mom passed 36 years ago. She is with me everyday. And your mom is with you. And don't worry, we old parents know ours kids make mistakes. It is okay. Parents know this. I am sure your mom knows. Live well my friend and make your mom proud by doing good
