Thank you for this amazing quality! My mom is the original Evil Queen from 1992 and im posting this all around today for the grand re opening since the Queen isn't returning!
I saw this that year as a kid a couldn't believe how magical it was! I had chills the whole show and couldn't stop talking about it at school to the other kids!
I got to go to a cast member (and their families) preview of this show when I was a kid. my face was right up against the railing bars around the rivers of America the entire time. I was totally amazed.
This was one of my last performances in Fantasmic before I left......Kaa....Smee......Ursula......Pluto.....whoever took this video was a very good videographer..Thank You for allowing me to be able to share it with my family and friends....Disney was an awesome place to work..I had 8 Magical Years there !!! I'd do it all again!!! Much Love !!!!!!
Nice! I think there are a lot of us from the older days who came to this video. I was a river driver between 2000-2003 on the attractions side for the show, then a show support barge driver between 2003-ish - 2006. It was still this version of the show (minus the Ursula barge). Those were fun times. BTW, if you worked on the West Side during that era, then the name Brad Lee must sound familiar.
Wow! I never thought I'd see a good video of the 1992 Fantasmic! Thanks for sharing! Not only do you have the best 1992 Fantasmic video, you have the best footage of Ursula. It's amusing to see how the show has changed and even how it's stayed the same. For me, the biggest difference is that the actors exaggerate their movements so much more now; I actually thought Mickey was lacking his usual enthusiasm at the beginning until I realized everyone was more subdued than I'm used to. That change was definitely an improvement. Thanks again for sharing some Disneyland history!
This may sound silly but honestly one of the best parts of the whole show for me and adds that sense of wonderment that makes the finale even better is the brief appearance of Steamboat Willie Mickey, the one that started it all. Glad that element of Fantasmic has been there since Day 1.
Also, let's note the fact that this was probably one of the best Disney night shows ever. Back in the day, there were possibly only two disney night shows. This and the fireworks at magic kingdom. There was no Ilummination of Earth (A.K.A Epcot's Fireworks), no MGM's Fantasmic until 1998, No Star Wars fireworks until 2016, no World of Colors until 2010, and no Animal Kingdom nightime shows until 2017. Hell there wasn't even Animal Kingdom yet. These were pretty much the only nighttime firework show you can see. Not saying its no longer a great hit its still the best, but i can imagine how much extreme attention it had.
Chao Flaka this was before Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, the Toy Story franchise, Mulan, Tarzan, Hercules, and yes, before the Lion King. It was in the earlier part of the Disney renaissance.
although when "Fantasmic:!" opened at Disneyland in '92, they showed this 3 x's a night, *AND "Fantasy In The Sky" , AND* 2 performances of "Main Street Electrical Parade.
Thanks for posting.... call me crazy but I bought a Disneyland Annual pass in 1992.... I would drive down from San Francisco about twice a month to watch this.... front row.... Disney was so magical then,,,,
Who is here in 2020 quarantine time...? I miss Disneyland so much... I love the new Fantasmic show but do miss some of the old things like the whole Evil Queen part.... now she appears as the old lady only and Mickey didn’t talk as much.. now he has more dialogue... I will always love the original more... so many memories with my family... can’t wait to go to Disneyland once it is safe to go...
This quality is amazing for the first showing of Disneyland's Fantasmic! I love the show and I think that this version is showing us how the show originally used to go on. Now, there's more elements in the show that make it much more magical and more immersive than it did when it premiered, but it still has the one story that makes us wanting to see it over and over again no matter our age, still awesome as it was back when it debuted. AWESOME VIDEO
To me, the show is a big part of the Disney and Disneyland family, and it brings together the good and the bad, and overall, all the characters created in Disney history, all the way from Walt the man himself, to today, and it just keeps getting better! Walt would be so happy and proud
Coming back and watching this now, it's funny to see the flickering of the film they used for the mist screens; I've become so attuned to the HD projection nowadays.
I do love Rapunzel but I miss Snow White’s float ❤️ reminds me of my childhood, saw this in 1992 when I was 6 and was completely mesmerized. My dad recorded it and I watched it constantly
@@MeowMeow_95_ shut up you don't know all the coordination and choreography they have to do. To bad you will never be successful to do something like this and see how hard it is

This is quite good footage for something that long ago. Show must have been revolutionary when it premiered. First few minutes of soundtrack and narration seem similar to that still used in Florida.
Truly an amazing show. Disneyland would not be Disneyland without Fantasmic. As a kid, it just made you imagine and believe in Magic ! Can not wait to bring my future kids to see Fantasmic 🎆🏰🎆
My family would take a road trip from Utah to SoCal about every other summer growing up. My uncle lives in San Diego, which has no shortage of fun things to do, but heading up to the I-5 to Disneyland was always the pinnacle of the trip. I have thousands of wonderful Disneyland memories, but I will never forget how overwhelmed I was the first time I saw Fantasmic in 1992 as a twelve-year-old. It was on our last night at the park, and it was the perfect way to wrap up 2 days at the happiest place on earth. Watching this video brought back a swarm of memories, thank you so much for sharing!!
Oh dude I just realized this was a few years before Toy Story, I was looking for Woody and co. in the back of the Mark Twain 😂 Glad to see Roger Rabbit again 😊
I thank goodness people like you had the foresight to record such incredible things. I remember the crocodile chasing Hook, Ursula and that dragon. I watched the show multiple times with my boys from the Disney Gallery balcony one time bringing my parents knowing they would enjoy the show, but were unable to endure the milling crowds below. Now, as an old man, I sit and watch this with tears streaming from my eyes at the fond memories.
I was 10 years old when this was shot! Wow! Thanks so much for the nostalgia. I remember how AMAZED we all were at this show (still are). But remember when this technology blew us all away???
The new version brought me here. I remember seeing this in person back in july 1999 on my first trip ever to DL. I didn't know anything about the show so it really took me by surpirse, it was like nothing I've ever seen in my life. Brings back good feelings. Thanks for sharing!
Imagine the feelings people felt seeing this on opening day. Since I was born in 94, I never got to experience opening day, but I do remember seeing it with my family for the first time in 99 when I was five. I was amazed by everything in the show. At that age, I thought the Disney magic was all real.
R.I.P. Eddie Carroll, Linda Gary and Wayne Allwine (the voices of Jiminy Cricket, Maleficent and Mickey Mouse). The three of 'em passed away and went up to heaven too soon.
thank you so much for sharing this and bringing my childhood back to me. Disneyland and these shows mean everything to me and its nice to be able to look back at it before it changed, and when i was a kid. my dad always made sure we watched all the shows, and now as i get older and my dad is now about to turn 70 and i realize he wont always be around... things like this will always remind me of him and the amazing disney filled childhood he provided for me. i try to keep the traditions going with my kids now. thank you for this.
I used to take my daughter to Disneyland when she was young, I can't tell you how many times we've seen Fantasmic! I love this ORIGINAL version! To me, the new version lost it's Magic sadly. Thank you for sharing this! Great memories!
Both shows had the head on a stick before. Disneyland got Murphy in 2009, and Florida's version opened in 1998, so the OG dragon couldn't have been brought to Hollywood studios because the timeline doesn't make sense.
I remember the original dragon look! Though I will say that the footage of the dragon in the projector really needed a tune-up, those shots looked really dark and indistinct.
Thank you for uploading this. I was Snow White and I am sadden to see they removed her float today and I think replaced it with Tangled. Thank you for capturing this classic moment in time.
I’m *so* grateful this video exists. This was from a time when Disneyland was still magical, their employees and heads of department CARED about the impressions they left with their guests and they worked OVERTIME to make sure that their productions were absolutely TOP NOTCH, and invested the time and money into proper care and regular maintenance of the show and its effects. Unfortunately, though I don’t think that they’ll ever announce it to the public - the budget cuts and lack of care/maintenance is probably what lead to the modern day version of the dragon (2023) going up in flames and traumatizing their audience. THANK YOU for keeping the magic alive with this video. It is a treasured and cherished recording of a bygone era.
Disney parks are FAR from the dire situation the movies are in. You might be exaggerating lol. Except for some of the hotel changes and some of the music choices in some parades & fireworks, the bubble effect from Disney is still pretty much the same.
We loved this show! We have a home video on 8mm. This was back when there was a nice grassy area bordering the river. I camped out there for hours so our little ones could sit up front and see.
I knew it! I knew it! Once I told my mom.. on fantasmic used to be an Ursula’s animatronic/ balloon in the middle of the show.. both my parents told me.. I was imagining.. but I was sure about it! I had 5 or 6 (maybe) the first time we watched.. but still on my mind.. I knew I was right! In 1992 versión the had an Ursula animatronic!
This version is SO MUCH BETTER than the new one. I don't like the new female solo singer's voice, but I especially don't like her phrasing. Also the singer in the Little Mermaid song is so much better in this one. The whole soundtrack is better in this one. Also, the new show has a lot of amazing special effects, but it's pretty much all special-effects and nothing else. This one has so much heart. And the quality of the video is amazing from 1992.
keymusic yes I recently saw the new version and was really confused thinking… This is not the phantasmic I remember. It was really nice to find the version from era when I went.
keymusic - You nailed it! The new singers sound weak compared to the originals. To make it worse, both the singers you hear in the original are dead 😭 R.I.P. Jane and Mark
I have such fond memories of experiencing this circa late 96/97ish from the desert party above pirates. I’m a WDW person but this put land on the radar besides the obvious for me. Nothing and I mean nothing will come close to OG Anaheim Fantasmic. Ok. Reflections of earth is neck and neck but they do tie each other. Just absolute class, perfection and Disney Magic.
I remember watching this show a LOOOONG time ago before I was even a teenager. Wasn't there a giant Kaa and giant Ursala that went across the Rivers of America back then? I saw that Kaa was in this video, but not on the water.

My one complaint about this video is that during the Mark Twain boat at the end, the camera stays focus on steamboat Mickey other than looking at the whole boat so we can see what Disney characters were used at the time
omg they used to have an Ursula? WHAT?!?! THATS SO COOL! I was born in 1996, and didnt go to Disneyland until 2004-2005. Either I was too young to remember Ursula being in the show, or they may have taken her out by then! LOL
By far one of the best sound systems ever put together just for this show in 92. Sounds so good! I believe they kept most of it but I’m not sure. Meyer Sound and d&b audiotechnik
I miss the old show. The amount of pyrotechnics they used for the finale was ridiculous back then. You couldn’t see Mickey often because of the thick smoke! I miss that!
We went to the 20 year anniversary event. It was so fun. Living so far away, we don't usually get to be a part of the pass events as they are gone so fast or we're not going to be in the area then.
I was 10 years old and this still gives me chills!! And I still prefer the ending of this original: those pyrotechnics absolutely BLAZED the night sky-- for 15 seconds it looked like it was daytime. Would love to know why the shift away from that was made (assuming safety first, of course) but wow was it amazing to see.
Horse-drawn street cars, horseless carriage, omnibus, Disneyland railroad, main street cinema, tiki room, jungle cruise, pirates of the Caribbean, haunted mansion, explorer canoes, fronteirland shootin arcade, big thunder mountain railroad, mark twain steamboat, sailing ship Columbia, rafts to Tom Sawyer Island, Fantasmic, sleeping beauty castle, snow whites scary adventure, Pinocchio's daring journey, king Arthur carousel, Dumbo the flying elephant, Casey Jr. Circus train, storybook land canal boats, it's a small world, autopia, matterhorn, mad tea party, Alice in wonderland, Mr. Toads wild ride, Peter pan's flight, rocket jets, space mountain, submarines, and the monorail are all listed under attractions in the 1992 guidebook and still exist in some form today. I only skipped over a handful that aren't still there... although as far as live shows go, fantasmic is the most in-tact of them all (assuming it's still essentially the same show once it returns)
Damn steamboat willie was popping back then lmao! Did you see all the characters on that boat?!?! They didn’t even have space to walk lol! They even included the damn jazz players from the pre show up on top! Hahaha! 😂 for me the noticeable changes were the female solo voice which was the best of course... 2017 female sounds like she’s about to lose her breath, no Tiana Woody, Buzz, Jessie, or army man at the end on the boat, and that Ursula float... I honestly did not remember that! It did look pretty unrealistic so I understand why the removed it. Oh and the dragon had long drapes lol. Oh and I don’t know if it’s me... but I could have sworn there were people waving sparkling fiber optics tinsel pompoms like the kind the fairies have in paint the night before steam boat willie came around the corner... 🤔 I’m not sure but I thought that use to happen. I dunno, I could be wrong.

omg they used to have an Ursula? WHAT?!?! THATS SO COOL! I was born in 1996, and didnt go to Disneyland until 2004-2005. Either I was too young to remember Ursula being in the show, or they may have taken her out by then! LOL
DannyAwesome63 they took her out in the 90s.
They moved her to japan? Hm let me go try and see...
By far one of the best sound systems ever put together just for this show in 92. Sounds so good! I believe they kept most of it but I’m not sure.
Meyer Sound and d&b audiotechnik
The best version of Fantasmic. No comparison.
Glad Disney never forgot Dumbo’s acid trip 6:53
More like a birthday present for me because you uploaded this video on my birthday
God the differences between then and now. But the original version is still really good.
Almost cried watching this. Such an awesome show.
I miss the old show. The amount of pyrotechnics they used for the finale was ridiculous back then. You couldn’t see Mickey often because of the thick smoke! I miss that!
I love all the sparkly dresses
Lynda Fall So do 👁.

+Sergio Meza Fantasmic will actually return before Star Wars Land is completed. It is scheduled to return next summer.
The wait is over Fantasmic has reopened with new effects and more characters.
This is amazing 😍 thank you
The Ursula float/puppet looks even more like Divine than the animated Ursula. Haha
Boy, it’s really weird to see Brer Fox and the Big Bad Wolf celebrate with the heroes at the end
We went to the 20 year anniversary event. It was so fun. Living so far away, we don't usually get to be a part of the pass events as they are gone so fast or we're not going to be in the area then.
its actually insane that all of this is from 92 and is the first year of the show
I got to see this show back them. I loved the huge Ursula animatronic
@@zeldafan1942 she was amazing and huge
@@lyndafall8818 I only recently discovered her animatronic!
I'll always have a heart with the classic, but I do really like the updated one. People are just scared of changes.
groovdafied Yeah Old rides getting replaced I get sad” when they change...
Absolutely breathtaking! The new version sucks I'm gonna go into city hall at Disneyland and complain every time I go.
David Hernandez please do! And email Disney on their website
David Hernandez too bad so sad
Write a snail mail letter, too. They pay attention when you take the time to actually write.
Though this was 4 years ago its quite hilarious to see you all complaining. The new one does not suck you guys just have a phobia of change
@@kpov2533 it still sucks absolute donkey balls
I knew there were more scenes on the water projectors that were removed!!!
PRUE ! Which ones?
Crawling3nmyskin the flowers at 4:10 were changed for sure since the opening but since fantasmic 2.0 it’s a completely different show
Saw this version when I was about five when Ursula comes out I remember I freaked out LOL
5:01 the BEST part and it fucking sucks Disneyland took it out for The Lion King.
just a awesome video.
Yes! Finally the fantasmic I know and love! Used to see this show all the time when i lived in so cal. New show doesn’t have the same magic.
I was 2 so this looks awesome.
Feels kind of funny seeing Chip & Dale and Roger Rabbit at the bow of the ship instead of the Toy Story characters!
I was born in 1994 yet I saw fantasmic at Disneyland when I was little but I don't remember what year nevertheless so much memories :)
I am CRYING that this is almost exactly the current WDW show save for a few scenes from movies post 1992
I watch this back when I was 7 year old
I am curious as to how the water projections worked way back in 1992. Did they already have digital projection systems or was it film?
Physical film. They didn’t begin using digital projection for the show till 2008.
so fantasmic show appeared for the first time in 1992?
10CIRL Yup May 13th 1992
I just did that same year.
I'm the same age as you, 28 years old.
Disneyworld was ‘99 or ‘98 I think and Disneyland was ‘92
People Nowdays: WOOOOO YEEAAHH LETTS GOOOO

30 years later
Hi I'm from the future lmao coming back here from 2023 and wow omg dude holy smokes this is old as heck
The new virson is ok I saw the old virson in person and iiked it a lot more
To think this is one of the only remaining attractions from that time now.
They used the same soundtrack for the intro? Until now the voices still sounds amazing 😍😍
I miss the fireworks during the Sorcerer's apprentice portion.
Still the best night shoe in 2024
Damn steamboat willie was popping back then lmao!
