The character was created from scratch after Marlon Brando (Moreau) struck up a friendship and insisted his new pal get a part in the movie. Mephisto is a known member of the South Park branch of NAMBLA (North American Marlon Brando Look-Alikes). Mini-Me from Austin Powers was also based off Brando's dwarf friend. Dude had no idea how iconic he was gonna make this random little guy he met lmao

Many programs that arrange for meals for the poor have special deals with local grocery stores to get bulk discounts, so donating the same amount of money as that can of creamed corn can end up feeding a whole family instead. With higher quality food at that.

There was a South Park First-Person Shooter game on PS1 where the Turkeys were the main enemies. You had to shoot them with a Sling shot. Exploring through South Park in a First Person persective was kinda fun but unfortunately the controls were not great.
when I was in High School we did a field Trip where we helped with a Canned Food Drive. it was unpacking Donated Boxes and sorting the Food. I have never seen so many Cans of Beans in my Life.
This episode hits my childhood pretty good, in my hometown there was a diner called Starvin' Arvin's--after this episode I always laughed when I saw the name.

I strongly suggest watching the episodes The Death Camp of Tolerance (season 6 episode 14) and Safe Space (season 19 episode 5). Those episodes just hit differently now because of the times we’re living. P. S. You’re one of my favorite South Park reactors mostly because of your analysis/summaries of the episodes, but also because of your Japanese translations.
When Jerry Seinfeld wanted to be a guest voice on South Park, they offered to have him be a turkey in this episode, as they had George Clooney be Sparky in an earlier one (and Jay Leno was Kitty in the Season 1 finale) - but Jerry's agent didn't think that would be dignified, or some such...

Solid choice deciding to go back and watch season 1... these new Johnny-come-lately fans who say the first seasons were crap... honestly don't know what they're talking about. Season 1 was solid gold. That's why the show grew into the monster hit that it became. Yes, the stories were much simpler, the writing was simpler, the animation was uglier, the town of South Park itself was much smaller and less complicated (a podunk little one-cop police station with Barbrady instead of a multi-storey building with Harrison Yates and many others)... but all of that stuff is, at least what used to be, what made South Park South Park... The new episodes can be great but there is a certain kind of elegance and charm that the older show had that the new, often overbusy, overwritten shows lack.
