Not even UA-cam's heavy compression could mask the beauty of the sound produced by those ribbon speakers and those SETs.
wow, the sound even through headphones is unbelievable!
The sound is live, but the sound track does not allow you to judge the quality.
I'm just back from 2018 and I can say hand on heart this is the best sounding system on UA-cam that AVshowreports has done. I also want these speakers :-)
2020 This is still one of the best amp/speaker combo's I've heard on this channel. I hear the GM70's a very distinctive valve sound :-)
Speakers are lightning fast, what a great way to be sucked into the depth of these speakers!
Great sound through headphones even with UA-cam limitations. Will need to look into these components for sure.
I'm thrilled about the Leonardo speakers! I remember the Apogees back in the 80's, and back then those speakers were just out the this world. Unfortunately the Apogees were also close to impossible to handle. The classic set-up at the time (as I recall it) was the massive class A series from Krell
And the only way to afford a Krell Class A was to be pushing Class A's on the streets.
The little Apogees, right now I don't remember the model's name, full ribbon speakers were fed by two Sony class-A monoblocks and the sound was so pure and transparent, by the way, the Sonys threw a wave of heat that even one and a half meter above the top panel, you could feel in your face like if a stove were put instead. That happened in 1994 or 95
This is ultra performance, heard this track many times, not with this much depth and detail....Wow!
James Jones whats the name of the track
That rug!
Amazing Speakers. I love the Apogees. These are the evolved versions.
I was curious why audiophile demonstrations don't use full range and dynamics of, ie Rock or Pop, live music to demonstrate the performances of speakers?
I don`t know if you are aware or not but Apogee speakers are still being manufactured in Australia. The models produced are Duetta,Diva,Scintilla and Fullrange but are enhanced versions of the originals;Neo magnets,CNC cut ribbons,Corian, stainless steel and aluminium used for the panel inplace of MDF.As a consequence they are much more expensive than the originals but higher performance. They have much higher efficiency and higher impedance;the Fullrange, called Definitive,is rated at 100db/watt with 4ohm impedance and costs over $100,000.
Incredible sound!
Sound so natural, nice!!
i wonder if those giant black speakers produce some awesome loud thumping bass? highs sound incredible
These will be my next speakers...……..coming from an Avalon and Apogee guy.
I really really want to see a super high end audio system playing Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton, Air Supply, Michael Learns to Rock, Celine Dion, or at least Kenny G
Perhaps Foreigner or even Supertramp??
OMG! This is hifi-heaven. 🤩
Those planar magnetics sound impressive. Very handsome looking too.. I just find it strange that there are exhaust fans (?) on top of the power trafos on the GM70 amps. That vintage FR cart sounds gorgeous.
Very good sound, how about play with magnepan speaker?
any commment please.
Awesome 👍🏽
This is only one single loudspeaker production I can appreciate, better than Apogee better than Steinway. The reversed phase must be sound simultaneously. I cannot accept any kind of cabinet any kind of enclosure, neither horn nor transmission-line. Yet I am afraid that the baffle board vibrates, even if not so large. The purity, especially high frequency of this loudspeaker is wonderful.
Dig that crazy haircut 😆
Awesome!!!
WOW!
If these speakers played in the Kharma room of 2018!!!
Please can someone tell me who is making that music thank you very much
buy this system...it's a small price toupee....when it becomes a family Hairloom...now combing UA-cam for more hifi vids..( over your head ?)
Nice!!
Peter, what do you think of the Leonardo speakers vs the Alsyvox Botticelli?
They are Alsyvox speakers..I think they've just renamed
Christ, I want those speakers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great choice in shirt(for tv)
Very nice sound
The Candy Man can! Oh the Candy Man can....
Leonardo Model 8 ($65,000/pair) planar ribbon speaker.
How bout In Memory of Elizabeth Reed live at Fillmore. I wanna hear REAL music on these systems.
Superb
Nerdville!
Grest Sound even from my fone
Hi’s are great
Mids and low end seem to bloom and lack definition
Sure huge soundscape that is enveloping
Still my feedback stands for now against others that I’ve listened to from Peter.
Can someone please tell Bill it’s pronounced “Toar-bee-yohn “
It’s named after a fine Swiss watch component designed by Breguet to compensate for variations in gravity on a watch mechanism as a watch rotated on the wrist. A watch incorporating a Tourbillon complication is of the highest quality and desirability.
really like the video as always. Just really wish you guys would play something that the rest of us peions would listen to. Ya'll keep using that track that ive never heard and have no idea what it should sound like so that leaves me with no reference to compare with what Im hearing on my setup. Id like to hear what these systems would do with some actual party music. Like some hard rock/ heavy metal type music or some of the hip hop/r and b type as well. Music like that would give me a better idea of what those high dollar systems are capable of. I dunno. just my 2 cents.
We try to keep a "standard reference" track so the viewers have a base line. We cannot use classic rock or pop music due to copyrights :) You should get this CD or LP and play the track Nublato and hear it for yourself.
AVshowreports will do chief! Only problem is that the nearest half decent record and cd shops are an hour and a half away. But it's still going on my shopping list.
FPS_Machete_[HD] maybe you could order it online
is the name of the cd standard reference and track name nublato?
You are listening mainly to a bass clarinet and an accordeon. If you don't know that, keep your money in your pocket.
Wow
Great sound on the recording. That microphone must cost like 20k USD.
Either the music played was all playing in the mid range, or the speakers are not impressive at the high range and deep bass.
This is UA-cam REMEMBER!!!!
I was going to ask why women have no interest in hifi ( of much else other than fashion, homes and babies), when i became distracted by an even more prescient question: Is hat guy wearing a hat or an absurd wig? Surely that's not his own hair?...IS IT?
