It is a fact, written in stone somewhere, that no matter how much room you have…there is never enough! When my craft room is clean I just sit and look at it. I can’t be creative until I get going with a mess! I think we nurses have a definite “divide” in the brain…creative Vs the nursing process side where we have to be logical and organized. Sometimes the two sides do clash! I think the guilt we fell because our craft areas need to be more organized comes from the nursing side that craves a plan and a logical path. Let it go! Easier said than done! Good luck with Howie, my hubby had the saphenous veins stripped and it made a huge difference!
The fact that you answered my question about missing New York after watching this video makes me love you more! I'm always glad when you share about your personal life. I made such a connection with you when you and your hubs were in the nightmare last year. There are many who truly care for you and your family, and sees you as a friend/sister and not only a teacher. You're all of those to me. (Yeah I'm a soft hearted sap, I know.) Thank you so much for the update! Love and healing blessings to you and yours! 😘
They are saying they are going to let him come home tomorrow. That means 3 days from now in hospital speak, but I am glad they are planning his discharge!
I will keep your hubby and you in my thoughts and prayers my dear. Take some time for yourself. My craft Area is a disaster area too!!! Take it easy if you can.
Lori, my crafting desk has always been a mess. I am scrapbooker, card maker and now colorist thanks to you!. I would always start with a clean desk and then wind up working in a 6 in square as everything would crowd into my spot. Obviously we aren’t the only ones with that problem. I have been following Tim Holtz for over 20 years and have bought many of his products. He has this issue too and came out with the media mat. That has helped me immensely. It’s raised so my stuff stays around the perimeter and all the stuff he sells from alcohol inks, glues, pastes, archival inks, etc all wipe up with alcohol or hand sanitizer. Works great!
My daughter is the opposite. She's super creative. But her space has to be spotless. Completely clean down to dust free. So she keeps her stuff extremely organized. Glad to hear your going to start doing something with this idea of yours. Hope you husband's recovery goes well and quickly. 😉
Keeping you n your family in my prayers. Lymphedema is no joke. In 2008 my Mom had Cancer. I was so concerned about her I ignored myself. My left calf got to 46 inches around. To the point I couldn't wear pants or undies cause it was so large. I was literally dragging my left leg when trying to walk. Anyway 5 days after my Mom had exploritory surgery that determined she had days not weeks to survive I collapsed. I was rushed to hospital. Put in the room she had been in the day before because Mom had gone home to my sister's house. I was hours away from complete heart failure. I was then diagnosed with congestive heart failure. 10 days in hospital. Infections cellulitis and MRSA on top of the lymphedema had me on Vancomycin. It literally killed my veins. They wound up putting a PIC line in. I came home from hospital on Vanc with IV line still attached so my daughter could give me vanc at home for another 2 weeks. So if you have chronically swollen body parts get them checked out ASAP. Don't ignore it. And the Drs were wrong about Mom. We had 6 months to say goodbye.
Family comes first! All else is secondary! Just remember......If you're sick all things start to fall apart. Be Well! Have some chicken soup and relax! Were all here for you ❤
Good morning my teacher! I bet my desk looks like yours. If my desk gets all organized, I can't work. Praying for your hubby. Ooooo the colors looks yummy 🤤!
Thank you. For telling us about your husband’s illness, first of all. I think this information might have important implications for my health problems. Again thank you. Also for your comments about your desk and how you function best. I have had years of people criticizing me for my way of functioning and it is a great relief to know there are other people who work like I do.
Mazel Tov! So great that the doctors discovered the source of your husband's problem it must be a huge relief. Thank you for sharing the situation with us Lori.
"functional" is a relative word"= ) my brain works just like yours and wish I knew and embraced this when I was younger because I always thought there was something wrong with me, but as an adult I got tested and learned both my personality and thought process accounts for less than 5% of the population. This is a gift from God, not a problem and the last part of my life I am going to celebrate it and honor this gift. Since I operate so much on the right side of my brain, though, I have found my left side works so much better, for example I taught math and science years. I can't wait for you to get your stuff on the market Lori, I will be first in line as I always am to support your endeavors. While I have had fun experimenting I do not enjoy it like you do, though I have worked really hard to get the jewels, pastels and skin tone sets right because using them with markers is a key selling point. I just want to use what works and gets me down the road ;), I have so many books to finish before my life ends and this will help so much. Much love to you and know my heart and prayers are with you and the hubby...
Thanks for the update, prayers for your husband and your whole family. I made base paste and I will wait patiently for your etsy store to open and support you there!
Sending best thoughts to you and your dear husband. About your Wonderful Base Paste, it is a very big deal that you formulated each color so successfully. It is indeed something that a art supply manufacturer would and should pay you very well for. It may be more your style to make the set to sell directly, but man, so much easier if you would consider selling them. Wishing you well. Well deserved.
I'm so very happy Howie is on his way to a full recovery. I figured you were dealing with something like what you are. Sending healing vibes and energy and prayers for your entire family. I am very happy to learn you will be selling your paste. I truly wanted to make my own, but I just don't have the attention span it takes to make it. Thank you for all that you do, Lori.
Lori, I just heard about your husband. All of us from the coloring community are mourning along with you. I lost my dad on June 1 of this year. It was sudden and unexpected. Sorry for your loss.
Prayers for you and your family. Congrats & blessings on your new product. Im collecting ingredients to eventually make base paste myself but for myself only. Nothing fancy. I have the oil pastels so why not ha. But also Im excited to see yours in your shop
"All you need is a good teacher." I am so moved by your generosity sharing your knowledge with us/me. Best to your husband and to you. And again thank you for being "a good teacher."
Wow!!! Much prayers for your Hubby, you, dad and daughter; I hope you get well soon. The pan pastels are fascinating in every way. And your desk is totally understandable to me. My sister is a neat freak. I am the not neat artist. There is conflict, but she doesn't understand me, and I can't be like her. We sortof compromise? But she is perpetually growling because the only way I can be neat enough to suit her is to give up all hobbies, and that's not going to happen in my lifetime.
I have no desire whatsoever to get the ingredients and make my own from your recipe. My desire lies in buying them from you and supporting you as you sure do DESERVE it! Go Lori! Go Lori! Go Lori!! I hope that you are going to patent them (before someone else does!)
Sending prayers and love for you and your family. My craft space is a mess for sure! I'm so excited about your Etsy shop selling base paste!!! I don't have the space or ability to make my own. We are raising our 5yo grandson after his Mom and our beloved daughter died in April. It's been a tough around here, and my time to do crafting has been severely limited. Things are beginning to level out now, and we're moving onward. The news about Howie's diagnosis and upcoming surgery is very good. I'll keep that in my prayers. It's amazing the detail you're going to in creating your base pastes for the different media. You're a remarkable teacher - I just got my Star-Joy Golds last weekend and I'm going through your videos to learn how to use them.Don't stress about getting content out to us - we understand and we are patient. Do what you can as you can. You are much-loved and much-appreciated!
I call the messy artist desk/craft space "Organized Chaos." I function best artistically when everything is strewn about!! Sending healing vibes to your husband as well as you and yours! Covid blows. My mom had it when it 1st broke out and we didn't even know it was covid yet. We thought she was going to die because she couldn't breathe but she made it through. My grandma and I caught it after her. Gma was hardly struck by it meanwhile my covid resulted in loss (and lag) of taste/smell and severe and scary chest and lung spasms. It was WILD. Meanwhile my bro never got it (thankfully)! Lol
We are all over the Covid. I have a drop of a residual cough but that's it. Oh I forgot about the loss of taste/smell. I had that this time and I am so glad it didn't last. Everything tasted like tin. It was horrible and I couldn't smell anything at all. My Daughter had it the mildest. If I didn't have a test kit available she never would have known. She had a fever and stuffy nose for one day. That was it. I only tested her because we had it, but she didn't get it from us. She got it from her friend, who had it really bad. At the time they didn't know. It was going around her work place.
Sending lots of love and wellness thoughts to you and your hubby. I hope you will get some answers soon. Well done on the base paste, I’m so glad you’re going to sell this, you’ve already put a lot into it and can see there’s a lot more to it than we’d initially think. Perfection takes time, and you’re right if you want to sell it it needs to be right. So exciting! Xxx
Chemistry major here- please be careful sticking your fingers in the pigments because many have heavy metals such as cobalt in them. Some of the synthetic pigments are toxic too.
Lori, my prayers are with you and Howie and family. Glad to hear you’re getting answers. I’m very happy to hear you will be selling your base paste. I’m totally amazed at all you do and what you all have been and are going through and still having time for us. I’m learning so much from you. Please take time for yourself too. Thank you is not strong enough to express my gratitude but it’ll have to do 🙏
Hi Lori. So sorry to hear about your hubby but so glad they can do a procedure to help him now. I often wonder how he is after being so ill last year and how you are as his carer. Very happy to hear you are going to sell the base paints. I love your pencils and their magical blending properties.
Fascinating what you have come up with. Your are always creating. I am excited about your new product. I kept telling myself I need to make the base paint. Now you have made my day by making a product I can purchase. I am so excited that your family is getting better. Your husband surgery will be a blessing. I know he has suffered for a long time. Prayers to you and your family Love you
I hope everything goes well with your husband and that the doctors figured out what's wrong. I always feel like that's the worst part of any condition, the wait for a diagnosis so it can be treated. I really hope it all works out and that stress no longer has to hang over your head. On the topic of base paste I'm really excited. I know it won't be cheap but your product will 💯% be worth it. So I'll start saving up for it now. May you have great success. Oh by the way I'm happy to know why my apartment is a mess, it's because I'm an artist, lol.
I am so glad you’re going to be selling these. I’ve been watching and I just have to get realistic with myself. I do not have the time to make these but I certainly want to use them. Can’t wait. Sending good vibes to you and your fam jam 😻
I just bought a Prussian blue pigment that will make the sky look like an unexplored galaxy. I can't wait to use it. Prussian blue mixed with titanium white make the most beautiful sky.
@@ColorMyWorld oh I am so excited 🤩 This is such a neat product. It’s amazing how much work you have put into this. Every day I’m so glad I found your channel . It has really elevated by art game. 🙏
I had no idea about your situation. It is good to hear that he is on the mend, I am glad to hear that. With that difference in pigments in mind I held off on mixing anything because of being very well aware of it and thought that there would have to be changes, some are heavier molecules than others and some aren’t naturally attracted to certain substances. Well I guess all the chemistry and microbiology classes helped there but also just using different media and being familiar with how certain pigments behave shows up. So I am happy for you. Seems like a big jar of white will be a big seller and or buff titanium to allow for lightening up colors and maybe that would help keep a refined palette. With the amount of time your hubby and family have been ill, it sure wouldn’t bother me to ask for plenty of extra 4x4s to wipe the excess base paste. Yeesh. My desk is a disaster too and it’s just the way I like it until my next project. Best wishes for your family and upcoming products, passing along good vibes.
hope all goes well for your husband and everyone gets better soon! love how you explained that pigments are actually chemical compounds! awesome video to come out on my birthday! (well it's my brother's birthday too lol (we are not twins tho))
Oh dear! I've had covid twice too. I'm sorry to hear your spouse has been so ill. I've been making some of your base paste here in my home, and want to try the marker paste too sometime. A blending paste would be awesome! Hoping you get your hubby and your zip back soon.❤️
I am over it. Just a slight cough and that's it. The blending paste is really nice. I have used it for several things. It has a very slight lemon / lavender scent that doesn't transmit to the paper, but you can smell it if you stick your nose in the pot. I am using a blend of oils that include lavender and I added a drop of the lemon to mellow it out.
Hi I’m so happy to hear that you are going to be selling your colors. Will you be selling them individually or will they be in and packages together how are they going to be marketed. Because I want one of each color lol, I am so excited for you on this project. And I am excited for us out here that are going to enjoy your colors when we paint. I hope your husband gets better real soon. Looking forward to seeing these covers in person thank you honey
Thank you. I did a community post yesterday. My Hubby is out of ICU and getting stronger each day. We believe Covid was at the root of this now but not "Covid". It was his preexisting conditions that were aggravated by the Covid. I'll be back with videos next week. I have been running around and by night I am just falling into bed. Things should return to normal shortly.
Thank God your husband is able to get his surgery right away. I’m still waiting but the wait for non- essential surgery these days is so LONG it’s almost good when surgery is necessary. It will be a lot of worry off your back when your husband’s health is back on track again. By Fall he will be his old self again and you will be launching your new enterprise. Best of luck.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Hope your husband's illness is able to be resolved. So sorry covid9 got you a 2nd time. Staying very hopeful your new product takes off on Etsy! Take care.
So glad to hear from you and very sorry about all the ills. My father had the same problem with veins in his legs. He had cellulitis, he had dementia, he refused to control the type 2 diabetes he developed..... it was very difficult. I really missed your videos! Your desk is fine! I get anxious without clutter. I no longer have an art space, I don't even have room for a desk or computer. My adult son and I share 2 rooms (not bedrooms! 2 rooms total. about 500 sq ft.!) Btw, your accent makes me happy 😃 Ttyl 😉 LM
Go slow and test things so you know how you like it. Keep a log and adjust it as you like it. Too hard, add more mineral oil, too soft add more bees wax. Add the bees wax slowly because the paste will go from mush to perfect really quickly. Too much wax and it gets hard like a crayon.
So in practicing witchcraft we use to have to make a book of our craft. We called it A Book Of Shadows... maybe you should call your artcraft book-A Book Of Shadows!
Yay! Vicious circle about to be stopped! Best wishes for the end of repetitious hospital events. BTW What's happening with the Star Joy Gold atm? What fun playing with recipes!
Hope your husband gets better soon. Glad they will be able to help him. With your new recipe, do you still need to wipe off the excess? This is so great!!
It depends if it's going to stand alone or be used as only a base. I usually run a tissue over it to remove any excess wax. It makes it very smooth and then pencil over it.
The darkest blacks Ive seen, have come from Charcoal. Might try adding charcoal powder into the mix, to see if that would increase the darkness. A thing to consider about the sizes of products, is that certain colors are used more than others. For example, White, Black, and probably the Blender... would likely get more use, and would be better sold in larger container amounts.
Yes about the larger size for the white black and blender. I will have that option. As for the black, I am using mars black and Iron Oxide as of now. I don't want to get too dark or the color will flatten things out. I may do a black and a super black and add another pigment called black 3.0. Well it's made by the same company but it could be 2.0 in the dry pigment form. It's expensive but it is BLACK! Lucky you only need a little.
Maybe you have already done this, but check with a patent lawyer because some one else could copy your formula, patent it and prohibit you from selling it. Or someone could accuse you of stealing their formula😳 Maybe it is unlikely but unscrupulous people could sue you and stop you until it gets resolved in court etc. and not necessarily in your favor. Just hope you are seeking advice. Keeping you and especially your hubby in prayer. 💞

My desk is a disaster too and it’s just the way I like it until my next project. Best wishes for your family and upcoming products, passing along good vibes.
Prayers up.
hope all goes well for your husband and everyone gets better soon! love how you explained that pigments are actually chemical compounds! awesome video to come out on my birthday!
Sending prayers
Hi I’m so happy to hear that you are going to be selling your colors. Will you be selling them individually or will they be in and packages together how are they going to be marketed. Because I want one of each color lol, I am so excited for you on this project. And I am excited for us out here that are going to enjoy your colors when we paint. I hope your husband gets better real soon. Looking forward to seeing these covers in person thank you honey
You've been in my thoughts. I hope you and your husband are okay. ❤️❤️
I’m sorry you & your hubby have to go through this. I hope he gets well soon. Love your info about it all. Totally understandable👍🏻🙂
2 rooms total. about 500 sq ft.!)
Btw, your accent makes me happy 😃 Ttyl 😉

Now you tell when my little pots, linseed oil, wax pellets & soft pastels came in today!
Blessed Be I just might

Yay! Vicious circle about to be stopped! Best wishes for the end of repetitious hospital events. BTW What's happening with the Star Joy Gold atm? What fun playing with recipes!
Will keep you & your dear husband in my daily Rosary.
Can I place an order?
When I got my little jars today I THOUGHT they looked too if!
Gee, do you have enough on your plate?
Did he get “the jab”.
