    i'm a vizzutti's fun but i have to say that the sergei's works on trumpet (in particular on flugel) will be remembered in the story of music.
    i think that music world has to say 'thank you' to Sergei Nakariakov..

    Nice flugel playing - an instrument we really don't hear enough.

    This track is from the latest CD "The Trumpet Concertos" that has come out in Japan last year. It can be ordered on japanese amazon.

    Also, More often, however, the fourth valve is used in place of the first and third valve combination, which is somewhat sharp (which is compensated for on trumpets and cornets and some three-valve flugelhorns by a slide for the first or third valve).

    @Jt5184 I'm not quite sure. Anyway, Dokshitser is one of Sergei's biggest influences. It is the musician who made Sergei fall in love with the trumpet.

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by "crossover CD". However, there's a new CD in preparation. If all goes as planned it is going to be recorded over the summer.

    according to wiki: Some modern flugelhorns are built with a fourth valve, which takes them down in pitch a perfect fourth (similar to the fourth valve sometimes found on euphoniums, tubas, horns and piccolo trumpets, as well as the trigger on trombones). This adds a useful area of low range which, when coupled with the flugelhorn's dark sound, gives an interesting extension to the instrument's abilities.

    @Drworm89 It's a Bb Courtois trumpet... only with 4 valves.

    No "Ad Absurdum" is not on the 2009 CD. And as far as I know it won't be included in the 2010 one either.

    There's a master class nearly after every concert. BTW Sergei speaks excellent English and French.

    It is the CD that has Ad Absurdum on it, specially composed for Sergei...supposedly the first CD made after his contract expired with Teldec.

    @Jt5184 the man in the picture is Veniamin Margolin, who used to be the principal trumpet of the Leningrad Philharmonic (during the conductorship of Mravinsky).

    @davidfromcali Sergei speaks perfectly good English. He has a sense of humor and you would enjoy a Master Class.

    Can someone please explain how the 4th valve is used verses the 3 valve horns. I am curious what notes you would use it for.

  • @kruzzik
    @kruzzik  13 років тому

    @zander392 He is quite happy with it. Otherwise he wouldn't have been playing it for years :)
