I agree!
He does not make a cogent argument relating human evolution and mariculture because one does not exist. As such, he has an opinion without any empiracle evidence. Without causality there is nothing learned.
i think there are some misinterpretations about adding bottled bacteria and biodiversity. a few years ago i remember a presentation i think from macna with dr. tim. i believe he mentiones that bacteria still have a lifespan. so in relation to dong’s analytic approach about cavemen’s average lifespan vs. today, that would be relevant. but one thing i don’t think he understands is that in reefing today, a lot of reefers use dry/ dry-liverock as a substrate. i think a good guest to have next time would be dr. tim, keith
Interesting perspective! It seems like less biodiversity would make the system more prone to new (and maybe even old) pathogens, though. In other words, less biodiversity is good until it’s not. Just a thought.

We reefers need to take everything with a grain of salt-don’t believe the sales pitch for every new fad. Just be patient and do what’s been proven over a prolonged time to work.
Interesting comparison but I think that the average lifespan of humans has increased so much due to healthcare and not so much about biodiversity... There's still biodiversity in the environment but we have healthcare to treat those that are sick... Take the healthcare out of the equation and the human lifespan would probably be a lot lower than what it currently is. I think we should add bottle bacteria if we really know if it's going to be beneficial to the tank and not because of the argument of increasing the biodiversity.... But the video content is still good.. 😊
If we knew what the correct bacteria 🦠🧫 and biodiversity was...then ok...but we don't.
The shrinking biodiversity in nature and our diets are definitely having an negative impact on out health. There have been coral research that found better growth and health in natural seawater vs synthetic.
