What I don’t understand is why they couldn’t just keep it? The show is getting replaced with an unannounced monsters show. when the entrance to a (instead now a mini monsters land) could’ve been moved back a little and still have the coaster and the monster sushi restaurant. with a mini muppets courtyard in front. It’s a studio park so each ride doesn’t have to have a full land.
Move it over by Rock 'n' Rollercoaster in a theater. And trade off theater showtimes of Muppetvision 3D and a new Muppets show. And move the fountain over there also.
I feel like everyone who covers parks news has independently come up with that idea. It just feels too obvious of a good idea to turn that area into Muppets Courtyard version 2. But this also requires the Disney Parks executives to listen to good ideas.
I completely agree that the Disney company has been treating the Muppets like a red-headed stepchild for a very long time now, which is a shame. If they actually leveraged the Muppets to their full potential, they would realize that the fandom is still out there for them.
This is the problem. Everyone likes the Muppets but, as a franchise, they are dated and there is nothing to do with them. They keep trying but it all fails because, as much as everyone professes to love the Muppets, they really don't care all that much. They've kept terrible Muppet Vision much longer then they should've and they're still keeping them in the park so everyone would give them a break.
How about moving Muppet Vision 3D into the Magic Eye Theater at Epcot? It is already a 3D Theater that shows Pixar shorts as filler - a waste of space. The special effects in this theater were amazing. I wonder if they all still operate? Can you imagine the entire theatre shaking during the final explosion of Muppet Vision? This would be a great place to honor Jim Henson as a creative genius. The meet and great areas could be used for Kermit/Miss Piggy, now that Mickey has a new home. The preshow movie could be a tribute to Jim Henson and the evolution of the Muppets- interspersed with a few of the clips from the current preshow. Now that jumping fountains are a thing at Moana, that entire area could be rethemed with Muppet photo-ops like the Miss Piggy Fountain from the curent Muppet Courtyard. And I would sob with joy if I could walk through the old rainbow tunnel while Kermit sings The Rainbow Connection. I think Figment and Kermit would be wonderful neighbors in the Imagination Pavilion.
Anyone shorter than 48 inches isn't riding RNRC. So that's great. One of the few things in that park geared to all ages is being eliminated, while "moving" the muppets to a ride that many can't or won't ride.
To fix Hollywood Studios Disney needed (past tense) to: - Replace Launch Bay with Mickey and Minnies and update Animation Courtyard - Update Great Movie Ride with Disney and Fox Films - Switch Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge placement for pathway benefits to ensure there’s no dead ends
My nephew turns 1 on new years. He would have loved Muppets 3D. i loved it in the 90's. They could have kept it in Monsters land. Animal could scare the pants off Mike&Sully fr😂
I'm sorry but that Muppets re-theme is going to be crazy lazy and suck big time and we all know it. They are putting it there because they knew the backlash with 0 Muppets in the parks would be too big for them to deal with. It's going to mostly focus on the human musician's music / image - and the Muppets will be tacked on. Also stop trying to make the Electric Mayhem a thing Disney - the series you made bombed. Now somehow a ride will make them popular? Just sell The Muppets back to Henson already.
Last time I checked the parks are not a museum… they had a great 30 year run but it’s time to move on. You know nothing last forever at these parks and they won’t expand the park with its limited borders!

So excited to pre-order this book for my teenager, Alicia! We’ve been watching your Epic Uni videos every week as a family! 🤩 Wondering if I can order a signed copy anywhere though???
It is unforgivable that SeaWorld treats their Muppets better than Disney treats their Muppets. Hopefully the Kermit hot air balloon and Miss Piggy fountain finds their way to the Rock N Roller Coaster area.
Universal japan does also with a full sesame street land, rides, food areas and live shows. They have done more with the muppets than disney has for decades in the park!
I love your idea about changing Catalina Eddie's! The paint can and brush and footprints would be marvelous. I love the idea about that whole area being Muppets. If you're going to change something you have to think about what is around it. Disney totally needs to hire you!
I am deeply sad about muppet visions closure I was really excited by monsters and to a degree I still am but the muppets mean so much to me I’ve loved them since I was 2 years old when my dad showed me Swedish chef videos then when I was three my aunt bought me the first three seasons of the muppet show on dvd she passed away shortly after. 2011 muppets movie is one of my favorite films and muppet vision is my favorite attraction in the Disney parks. While I’m glad the muppets will stick around with the new rock n roller coaster I don’t like roller coasters that go upside down I feel like this ride will alienate a lot of people that like the muppets. Secondly I hope muppet vision is relocated somewhere literally anywhere putting it on Disney plus is such a cop out that attraction was intended to viewed in a physical space Jim Henson would Be rolling in his grave if Disney just slapped it on streaming. Walt Disney alsa said that there was enough land at Walt Disney World for all of their ideas. The Walt Disney Company is just making terrible use of the space it has. 😢 Most of the space is being used for increasingly-less-themed hotels. On a different note, this is probably your favorite podcast episode ever--it was hilarious and serious in equal measure. 😊
If the cars ride comes to magic kingdom, could they close the cars thing at the studios and put muppet vision there instead. Also the pizza planet truck appears in monsters inc and monsters university so wouldn’t they just retheme the pizza building to pizza planet.
Isn't there a parking lot used behind Muppets that they can build an all new Monsters Inc land in? Would have been a perfect segway from Muppets area to Monsters Inc area
I think they should build monsters Inc. over in animation courtyard, there’s way more space to work with and it’s just a bigger spot and it’s a really boring dead area now and we don’t need Star Wars launch by anymore, that way they can keep all of Muppets courtyard, the way the new concept art looks they have to catty corner, the ride building for the coaster which means they have to get rid of some cast member parking and that back road has to be rerouted to go like around the building and add more cast member parking spaces back somehow. But since they’re moving Muppets to rocking roller coaster, why not move Muppet vision 3-D where the villains show is gonna be next-door, once they finish the villain show they can just take that out and put them up vision 3-D in that building and make it a permanent location you know and just redo the effects in there and do a little bit of interior work so you can keep doing the same effects and animatronics.

I don’t want it to happen but I did always feel that Tower could be a fun retheme to Muppets. A Muppet ran hotel could be great and their antics being what causes the elevator to go crazy. Imagined that area becoming a new Muppet courtyard with the RnRC retheme to Electric Mayhem and the Muppets and then turn Racing Academy theatre into a new MuppetVision. Would hate to see the spooky theme go but Muppet hotel would be fun
As a someone on the west coast who hasn't been to Disney World, the way I've seen people talk about Pizzerizzo after the news is fascinating. Don’t hold your breath for anything new Disney promises. The very few things they managed to come through with took years and I mean years and was sub-par at best and a complete failure in truth. I can always dream. I will be doing my dreaming while enjoying Epic Universe.
As much as Muppets 3D is historical and all that... it's also, well, tired. You mentioned that Disney's been letting the area slide for years, and it's true of the attraction even more than the land. Things in the queue don't work and haven't for ages, all the paint is worn and the seats are frayed. 3D isn't particularly exciting or novel anymore, and people are kind of done with the whole 4D concept too... Universal killed Shrek4D years ago. I think it's honestly time... tbh, as much as WE love the muppets, most kids these days haven't ever seen an episode of the Muppet Show (as much as that's a crime)... it's a mainstay from the 80s and 90s but that was a long time ago, unfortunately. I also think Tower of Terror is getting a retheme eventually. Not immediately or even soon... but it's going to be extremely out of place at the end of the street now. It would actually make sense to make the whole end of that street Muppets, but I agree it's unlikely. However there's not enough room for a marvel land, so I don't think they'll swap it to GotG unless they blow out the walls on that end of the park and make a mini-Marvel-world over there around it. Regardless, they abandoned their 'Hollywood Analogue' conceit ages ago, so having this decrepit hotel sitting down there no longer makes a lot of narrative sense. I think what will keep it around is just that it's possible, so they aren't going to retire it until the Monsters/Muppet move is done and they don't have a big chunk of the park closed.
The theater seats have all been redone this year actually, and all effects have been turned back on, and new projection mapping was recently added, so the show is in the best shape it’s been in in years-I do get get your point though.
As someone who has never been to Disney I don’t really have any hard feelings with losing muppets but I’m more than excited for the new Monsters Inc land! I’ll definitely go visit as soon as this opens!
I said almost all the same things Alicia said about this. Well, not the nonsense about loving Monsters, Inc. (Corny AF.) But I said I think they really WANT to dump MuppetVision, because it's Bob Iger. Of course he can't allow attraction counts to rise!!! But it REEKS of another Main Street Electrical Parade "going away forever!" lie. If the outcry is bad enough, they can just announce its return, and then play Captain EO with it until they make people not care again. I also said they should turn at least part of the Sunset market area into food trucks for the Muppet Studios. When they built Sunset Showcase, I said it would eventually be for MuppetVision, because they belong in Hollywood. They just needed to find something to put in that area. They finally did... I have to disagree that this will be a good land. That coaster is going to SUUUUUCK. It's basically going to be Puss in Boots, but indoors... and in doors! (OMG, I'm turning corny AF!) It's going to be slow and short and have horrible throughput. I think they know this, which is the only reason they're adding a live show instead of porting M,ILF over here. They apparently learned nothing from the Crush Coaster. Otherwise, the only thing giving the land any IP value will be Harryhausen's and the Factory. Which means anybody wanting to be in the Monsters, Inc world will have to stand in a spot that encompasses both of those buildings AND NOT MOVE THEIR HEADS. This ain't no Cars Land, and this ain't no Pandora, proving they also learned nothing from Galaxy's Edge. It's unfortunate that the best thing for Bob Iger is not the best thing for the park. What belongs in the space is a Star Wars attraction linking Star Tours to Galaxy's Edge, both physically and thematically. Something with a "We're in Star Wars!" theme, like... oh, I don't know... a speeder bike ride through the forests of Endor??? Cheap idiots.
It’s great in Shanghai. It won’t be a sloppy second until it’s cloned elsewhere, hence the “second”… that said I think it’s beautiful and like Ratatouille would love to see it come stateside.
What do you think they should do with Muppet*Vision 3D?

What is hollywood studios even about?
DISNEY!!! LISTEN. TO. ALICIA.
Nooooooooooooooooo
Monsters or Muppets....Super easy decision and they made the right one.
Zootopia is not a "sloppy second". It's great I've been there. And it's a THEA award winner in 2025 just like Fantasy Springs.
It’s great in Shanghai. It won’t be a sloppy second until it’s cloned elsewhere, hence the “second”… that said I think it’s beautiful and like Ratatouille would love to see it come stateside.
